Chapter 2529 - 2315: I’ll Take Charge

Chapter 2529: Chapter 2315: I’ll Take Charge

"This is an intern from xxxx Medical College assigned to our Traditional Chinese Medicine Department. You two see who will take her." Wang Manshan said to Feng Huihui and Liu Liyang.

"Which class are you from?" Feng Huihui asked Chen Xue.

"Grade Two, Class One." Chen Xue answered.

"Wasn’t there no quota for Grade Two, Class One? Class Two had four spots, Class One had none." Feng Huihui asked Chen Xue.

"We did. Our class had one spot." Chen Xue answered.

"So it’s three from Class Two and one from Class One then?" Feng Huihui asked.

"Yes." Chen Xue answered.

"Director, I’ll take her." Feng Huihui volunteered.

"Alright, any other students that come will go to you." Wang Manshan said to Liu Liyang.

"Okay, Director, I’ll get going then."

"Mm."

"Come with me." Feng Huihui said to Chen Xue.

"Okay."

Feng Huihui led Chen Xue to an empty office.

"Clean this place up first." Feng Huihui pointed at the trash littering the floor and the dust covering the desks and said to Chen Xue.

"Teacher, this..."

"You must finish all of it by noon." Feng Huihui didn’t even give Chen Xue a chance to speak.

"Hurry up, there’s more work this afternoon." Feng Huihui said.

"Teacher Feng, I’m here to intern." Chen Xue said cautiously.

"Even for an internship, you have to get the office cleaned up before you can start." Feng Huihui said.

"But..."

"You’re here to intern, I’m your mentor. Whatever I tell you to do, you do. Understood?" Feng Huihui said coldly to Chen Xue.

"Got it..."

With a loud "bang," Feng Huihui shut the door, leaving Chen Xue alone in the office.

Chen Xue wrinkled her nose and tiptoed carefully around the office.

This office looked like no one had been here for a month. Dust covered the floor, piles of scrap paper were scattered across several desks, trash was thrown everywhere, and the air reeked of mildew.

"How am I supposed to clean this?" Chen Xue couldn’t help muttering to herself.

After thinking for a while, Chen Xue walked out of the office, went to the end of the corridor, and found the restroom.

Sure enough, the cleaning lady’s mop and bucket were in the restroom.

Chen Xue picked up the bucket, filled it with water, rinsed the mop, then carried the bucket and mop back to the office. She swept all the trash from the desks onto the floor, stirring up a cloud of dust that made her cough uncontrollably.

Then Chen Xue found a grimy, pitch-black rag in the office, tossed it straight into the bucket, washed it, and used it to wipe the desks and windowsills. She then found a broom and a trash bin to gather up the trash on the floor.

There was everything on the floor: scrap paper, dirt, takeaway food boxes, pens, cups, earphones, glasses, worn-out white coats, and so on. Chen Xue really did end up dumping out three full buckets of trash, then mopped the floor; she worked straight through the whole morning.

It was late autumn, and the office heating wasn’t on, so it was very cold, yet Chen Xue was sweating all over from the work.

The office was put in perfect order: desks arranged neatly, wiped to a bright shine, all the trash thrown out, windows clean and clear, the place completely transformed.

Hands on her hips, panting heavily, Chen Xue admired the fruits of her labor with satisfaction.

Not long after she finished cleaning, Feng Huihui came back.

"Done?" Feng Huihui asked Chen Xue, her face expressionless.

"Mm." Chen Xue nodded.

Like a leader making an inspection, Feng Huihui paced back and forth in the office, looking around. It was indeed spotless, there was nothing to nitpick.

"Hey? Where are the things that were on this desk?" Feng Huihui tapped the sun-reflecting surface of the desk with her knuckles and asked Chen Xue.

"Huh? What things?" Chen Xue asked nervously.

"The papers on this desk, they were all important!" Feng Huihui said to Chen Xue, somewhat annoyed.

"I—I thought they were useless and threw them away." Chen Xue said.

"You threw them away?" The moment she heard that, Feng Huihui panicked.

"Those were contact details for patients and their families, and you just tossed them? Where did you throw them?" Feng Huihui shouted at Chen Xue.

"Into the trash bin in the restroom." Chen Xue answered.

"Go find them. It’s a stack of documents, all names and phone numbers on it!" Feng Huihui pointed toward the door.

"Okay..."

Chen Xue walked out the door, let out a sigh, and went to the restroom, stopping in front of the trash bin.

The bin was already overflowing with the stuff Chen Xue had cleared out of the office.

Now she had to pull all that out and search for those scrap papers.

Fuming, Chen Xue kicked the trash bin over.

After rummaging through the garbage heap for a long time, Chen Xue finally found the contact information Feng Huihui had mentioned, already soaked and ruined by dirty water. Pinching her nose, Chen Xue carried the papers back to the office.

"Look what you’ve done! So careless with everything! You can’t even handle such a simple job as cleaning up?" Feng Huihui put her hands on her hips and scolded Chen Xue, gesturing sharply as she spoke.

"I’m sorry..." Chen Xue said, head lowered.

"I told you to tidy things up, not throw them away. Use your brain when you do things." Face flushed and breathing hard with anger, Feng Huihui impatiently pointed at the desk.

"Rewrite all these contact details that got soaked and dirty!"

Hearing Feng Huihui’s words, Chen Xue flared her nostrils and let out a heavy breath. She didn’t respond, just sat down directly on the chair by the desk.

"Hurry up, I need them this afternoon!" Hearing Chen Xue’s loud breathing, Feng Huihui got even angrier, turned back and shouted at her.

"Got it—" Chen Xue deliberately dragged out the word.

After saying that, Feng Huihui went out again.

Looking at the patient and family contact information soaked by dirty water, Chen Xue realized all of it dated back five years.

So this was clearly just Feng Huihui picking on her.
