Chapter 2043: Chapter 25: Peace of Mind
This was the deepest sleep Wufu had had in a while. When she woke up, the day was already bright. She looked to her side, it was empty, and she jumped off the bed with a start and ran out.
At the doorway, Lady Liang came in holding a baby wrap. Seeing her come out in just a single layer of clothing with bare feet, she chided, "What are you doing? Get back to bed!"
"Little Bun." Wufu looked at her arms; her son was yawning and smacking his little mouth, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"When I came in, I saw you and the baby sleeping soundly. As I got closer, I saw the little guy open his eyes and purse his lips, about to cry. Afraid he’d wake you, I took him out to feed him," Lady Liang walked to the bed, put the baby down, and said, "I’ve also bathed and changed him. Rest assured."
Wufu felt a bit embarrassed and said, "I slept so deeply, I didn’t notice a thing."
Luckily, this was Zhou Xueli’s house, and it was Lady Liang holding the child. If it were the enemy, both she and her baby might not have survived!
From another perspective, her alertness had lowered, and the current situation didn’t allow her to be so relaxed. It was too dangerous.
"You’re exhausted," Lady Liang looked at her and sighed, "These days, you’ve suffered."
Wufu didn’t go into detail, but even thinking about it, she didn’t dare to delve into what she’d been through. Others would’ve lost their lives long ago.
Hearing Lady Liang’s words, Wufu’s nose tingled with emotion, but she said, "It was destined that I’d face such a trial. Thankfully, I got through it. From now on, I’ll just wait to enjoy life."
She had to believe that the ordeal the He family girl spoke of was this one. Wasn’t it indeed a life-or-death trial?
Getting through it is all that matters!
"You’re someone who’s got five blessings; everything will go smoothly for you. Enough of those talks, I’ve asked Sister Gui to cook some chicken soup, it’ll be ready soon. Lie down a bit more, I’ll get it," Lady Liang said.
Wufu nodded and asked, "What about uncle?"
"He left when the day broke, don’t worry," Lady Liang patted her hand.
Wufu smiled, sat on the edge of the bed, picked up her son, and saw that he was well taken care of. Although the clothes and small quilt wrapping him weren’t of the finest materials, they were clean and tidy, and that was enough.
"You seem to have grown a little," Wufu extended her index finger to touch his little face.
The baby’s face had developed some, still thin and weak, yet no longer resembling a monkey like when he was just born.
Sensing someone watching her, Wufu looked up and saw a child clinging to the doorframe, half his head peeking in curiously. She couldn’t help but wave him over.
The boy, with a tuft of hair left on his forehead, ran over, and Wufu smiled and asked, "Are you Anan? How old are you?"
"I’m five years old," Anan displayed a set of little white teeth and looked at Little Bun, saying, "Brother, so small."
"Yes, brother. But he’s still small and can’t play with Anan yet. Wait until he grows, then he’ll play with you."
Anan nodded solemnly, "I know, my sister is the same."
"Good boy," Wufu patted the hair on his head.
"Anan, go play outside, don’t disturb your cousin’s rest," Lady Liang came in carrying a large tray.
Anan said "Oh," about to leave when Lady Liang called him back, "Remember what Mum told you, okay?"
"I know, I won’t tell anyone that cousin is staying with us," Anan said seriously.
"Good boy."
After he left, Wufu smiled at Lady Liang, "He’s smart, is it time for his education to start?"
"I plan to send him to my family’s place in a few days to have my father educate him," Lady Liang said as she ladled a bowl of soup and placed it on the small table, taking Little Bun into her arms, "Quickly, drink it while it’s hot."
Wufu nodded, hesitated to speak, but said nothing. Her situation was still uncertain, they could talk in the future.
