Doted By The Regent King

Chapter 2081: Bonds Between Teacher and Student

The Regent King’s arrival was akin to that of a sovereign descending; in the whole of Beiyan, the young emperor relied on the Regent King to govern. Now, with the unification of two countries, his status was even more exalted.

Therefore, the entire Meng family, amidst the envy and jealousy of onlookers, was busy with cleaning in anticipation. The head of the family, Eldest Master Meng, along with the family, awaited at the main gate for the grand presence.

A trusted aide dressed in a guard uniform galloped through the alley leading to the main gate of the Meng family, making way for a plain and unadorned carriage that followed. The Meng family people immediately stood upright.

Ah Jiu, dressed in luxurious purple and silver attire, was the first to step down from the carriage, helping out a lady in a long purple gown. The lady was holding a child in her arms, a majestic family of three.

“I’ve met the Lord and Princess Consort,” Eldest Master Meng, donned in formal robes, respectfully cupped his hands in salute.

Ah Jiu stepped forward a couple of steps and gently raised his hand: “Lord Meng, no need for such formalities. Today, I accompany the Princess Consort to visit the teacher; we are all family, feel relaxed.”

Eldest Master Meng’s eyes brightened, and he smiled: “My father is already waiting for the Lord and Princess Consort inside.”

Wufu approached, holding her son and slightly curtsied: “It’s been years unseen, Eldest Master’s charm remains unchanged, and Eldest Lady is eternally youthful.”

The Eldest Master Meng family dared not accept her salute, returned a half salute, and led the guests inside.

Old Master Meng was waiting in the Floral Hall, having already craned his neck for some time. Upon hearing the servant’s announcement, he straightened his sitting posture. Surely, he saw a pair of fine people come forward, the lady beside the man filled with grace was none other than his young female disciple?

Seeing Wufu with a child in her arms, a smile played at the corners of his mouth; Old Master Meng’s eyes grew slightly moist. To see this cherished albeit wayward disciple once in his lifetime, even in death he would find worth.

Wufu handed her son to Purple Jade, knelt on the prayer mat, and kowtowed three times to Old Master Meng: “Disciple pays respects to teacher.”

Being a disciple for a day equates to being like a father for life, these few resounding bows, the Old Master more than deserved them.

As the Meng Family people watched, they relaxed from the heart. The Princess Consort still remembered this teacher-student bond; it was more than sufficient.

“Rise,” Old Master Meng raised his hand.

Ah Jiu did not kneel but gave a long respectful bow to the Old Master.

Wufu held her son again, paid respect to the Old Master, and asked him to look at her son. They accepted the meeting gift and sat down to chat.

After some pleasantries, the Old Master requested Wufu and Ah Jiu to the study for a conversation, with the Eldest Master accompanying.

“Later, we’ll have a chat with Eldest Lady,” Wufu smiled at Eldest Lady Meng.

Eldest Lady Meng certainly obliged, arranging people to set up tea in the study, while she personally went to the kitchen to prepare the lunch.

In the study, the fragrance of tea lingered.

Old Master Meng noticed Wufu looking thin and her complexion not good, frowning: “Why does your complexion not look well?”

Wufu said: “For the past years, following the Lord in battles, I’ve received some injuries.”

Beyond this, she said nothing further.

Old Master Meng knew these injuries were certainly not trivial, but since the girl did not mention them, she definitely didn’t want him to worry, so he said: “You must take care of your body; now the world is at peace, since you have a child, spend these years peacefully nurturing your son and recovering.”

“Yes.”

Ah Jiu said: “Rest assured, old sir, even without your advice, I would not let her worry.”

Old Master Meng acknowledged, saying: “Indeed, that’s right.”

“Sihao is currently handling affairs at Chitang Pass City very well; once stability is achieved there, I plan for him to go to the Northwest. Now that two countries are unified, establishing peace is the priority, and if Sihao performs well, it’s possible the Meng family might produce a future Grand Historian of the Borderlands,” Ah Jiu said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Eldest Master Meng was instantly delighted; this was an indication to place significant responsibility on his son, he instinctively looked at his father.
