Chapter 559 - 458: My Name is Tushan Jing Ci You Must Remember It

Chapter 559: Chapter 458: My Name is Tushan Jing Ci, You Must Remember It

Before he knew it, two months had passed.

During that time, Xiao Mo’s days began the moment he opened his eyes, consisting of little more than carrying firewood and starting fires.

He still had no clue how to approach the three tasks mentioned by the Hundred Generations Book.

After all, at his age, he was too weak to even truss a chicken. Just as Master Niu had said, the moment he stepped outside Tushan Mansion, he’d probably be turned into baby greens. How could he even think about anything else?

Xiao Mo felt the only thing he could do for now was to stay in the Tushan Mansion, build up his body, and simply get by day to day.

And while he worked himself to the bone in Tushan Mansion, he at least got to eat his fill.

In the Demon Race’s World, where humans were treated worse than dogs, being able to eat a full meal every day was a luxury for most ordinary people.

After two months of nourishment, Xiao Mo had put on some much-needed weight, and his strength had grown considerably.

At night, although the woodshed where he slept was a bit cold, his bed was on a pile of firewood, and his blanket was reasonably warm.

Besides, Master Niu was a decent sort. He had hinted that if Xiao Mo got too cold, he could light a fire for himself.

He would turn a blind eye.

Outside of his daily work, whenever Xiao Mo had a spare moment, he would sit with some of the Demon Race from the kitchen courtyard and listen to them chat.

He heard plenty of crude jokes and idle gossip—"That Cat Demon, Dongfeng, is so incredibly supple. A man could break his back trying to keep up with her," "The new cow demon in the mansion... her chest is like a pair of mountains. Just looking at them makes you hungry!" and "Master Niu snuck past Steward Bear’s courtyard and swiped two of Matron Bear’s halters."

But from these bits and pieces, Xiao Mo also began to understand the general situation of his surroundings.

The city he was in was called Xianhu City.

Xianhu City was under the jurisdiction of the Celestial Demon Country.

However, compared to the other cities of the Celestial Demon Country, Xianhu City was rather special.

Although the Celestial Demon Country would dispatch a Great Demon to govern it, the true master of Xianhu City was never the Great Demon of the Jade Realm who served as City Lord.

It was, in fact, Lady Tushan of the Tushan Mansion.

Without Lady Tushan’s approval, the City Lord of Xianhu City could get nothing done.

But Lady Tushan was a private, well-read, and reasonable person who rarely interfered in the city’s affairs. As a result, both the Celestial Demon Country and the successive City Lords of Xianhu City treated her with the utmost respect and dared not act presumptuously.

Lady Tushan had a daughter, the Young Miss of Tushan Mansion.

’If I’m not mistaken,’ Xiao Mo thought, ’she’s most likely the little girl I met before.’

This Young Miss was known to be playful and often ran around the courtyards.

When Xiao Mo had been warned, "When you see the Young Miss, you are not to touch a single hair on her head," he had initially assumed it was because of his lowly status as a member of the Human Race.

But as it turned out, every male creature in the entire mansion had to be careful.

Anything male was forbidden from touching a single hair on the Young Miss’s head!

As for why, nobody knew.

「Another half-month passed.」

That evening, after another busy day, Xiao Mo took a cold rinse in the courtyard before returning to his woodshed to rest.

Since summer had arrived and his body had grown stronger, he no longer needed to light a fire for warmth.

Gazing at the stars outside his window and listening to the chirping of cicadas in the courtyard, the exhausted Xiao Mo quickly fell asleep.

But just as he was sleeping soundly, the door to the woodshed creaked open.

An adorable little head poked through the crack.

The little girl with fox ears glanced left and right, her eyes falling on a child about her own age sleeping on the firewood pile.

After a moment’s hesitation, she tiptoed into the woodshed and closed the door behind her.

"Young Miss..."

"Where are you, Young Miss..."

"Young Miss, it’s late. Please stop playing and come out..."

"Young Miss..."

Before long, the sounds of shouting reached the woodshed.

Roused by the noise, Xiao Mo groggily opened his eyes.

As he was still wondering what was going on, he turned his head and saw a delicate, doll-like little girl hiding at the base of the towering pile of firewood.

In the moonlight, her large, limpid eyes shimmered with a silvery glow.

A snow-white fox tail peeked out from under her dress, swaying gently in the air.

Seeing the boy in the room awaken, the little girl looked slightly nervous.

But when she got a clear look at Xiao Mo’s face and recognized him, she suddenly relaxed, and her eyes began to sparkle.

CLANG.

Before Xiao Mo could say a single word to the fox-eared girl, the door was thrown open.

The girl immediately ducked her head, hugged her knees tightly, and wrapped her tail around herself, using the Lifebound Divine Ability of a Nine-tailed Celestial Fox to conceal her presence.

"Human brat, have you seen the Young Miss? Or heard anything at all?" Master Niu demanded, panting.

Xiao Mo glanced discreetly toward the corner.

He saw the "little furball" poke its head out and shake it frantically.

"No, Master Niu," Xiao Mo replied. "I heard people outside shouting for the Young Miss. Is something wrong?"

"It’s nothing serious. The Young Miss just snuck off to play somewhere again," Master Niu sighed, his tone one of pure resignation. "You just stay put and keep an eye on this place. Don’t go to sleep tonight. If you notice anything, tell me immediately, you hear?"

Without waiting for a reply, Master Niu dashed off.

Once Master Niu was gone, Xiao Mo closed the woodshed door and walked over to the fox-eared girl.

She unfurled from her "furball" state, let out a long sigh of relief, and patted her chest. Looking at the boy before her, she smiled and said:

"I... I remember you! You’re that Human Race servant from before! Your name is... Xiao... Xiao..."

"Xiao Mo," he replied with a smile.

"Right, right, you’re Xiao Mo!" The fox-eared girl nodded eagerly, her little tail swishing back and forth in the air as if waving hello. "Xiao Mo, thank you for not giving me away."

"It was nothing, Young Miss." Xiao Mo shook his head. "But it’s so late. Why are you...?"

"Hmph!" The fox-eared girl planted her hands on her hips and jutted out her small chin, looking rather cross. "Mother never lets me go out of the mansion to play, so I’m going to sneak out tonight, just this once!"

"Oh, right! Do you want to come with me? I hear it’s really fun out there!" she invited cheerfully.

"I’d better not, Young Miss," Xiao Mo politely declined. "I have to get up early tomorrow to carry firewood and start the kitchen fires."

’In Xiao Mo’s opinion, there was no way this little fox-eared girl would actually manage to sneak out.’

’If she got caught, she would only get a scolding from Lady Tushan.’

’But if I were to sneak out with her, I’d probably lose my life.’

"Okay..." The little girl lowered her head, disappointed. But she quickly perked up again. "Well then, Xiao Mo, I’m going out to play! When I get back, I’ll tell you all about the fun things outside!"

"Alright, Young Miss..." Xiao Mo said with a smile.

"I’m off!"

The fox-eared girl happily ran out of the woodshed.

But a moment later, she ran back in.

"Young Miss?" Xiao Mo asked, puzzled.

"I forgot! I forgot to tell you my name!"

The little girl was panting, her fox ears twitching.

"My name is Tushan Jing Ci."

"Tushan."

"Jing Ci."

"Make sure you remember it, okay?"
