Chapter 682: Can Be So Heartless

Chapter 682 -547: Can Be So Heartless

In the grand hall, all nine Grand Elders, with the exception of Tushan Xinhua, were present and seated on either side.

Grand Elder Tushan Meng was seated in the place of honor, personally presiding over the clan meeting.

The agenda for the meeting had two main parts.

The first was a review of the great battle on the front lines of Quicksand City.

The second was to collate all the intelligence that had been gathered recently concerning the Yuzhu Secret Realm.

Of course, among the topics related to the Yuzhu Secret Realm, the most critical and attention-grabbing was the Demon Pill that had been brought out of the realm, its current whereabouts unknown.

Never mind whether that Yuzhu master was truly a cultivator of the legendary Lost Second Realm.

The Demon Pill from an Ascension Realm Great Demon was, in itself, already precious beyond measure.

After all, looking across the entire world, how many cultivators had truly stepped into the Ascension Realm?

Every last one of them was an ancestral figure who presided over their own domain, looking down upon the mortal world.

What’s more, the Yuzhu lineage had not been seen in the world for tens of thousands of years.

Thus, even Tushan Meng herself felt a stir of curiosity regarding this particular Demon Pill.

After these miscellaneous matters were addressed, Tushan Meng and the Elders present began to discuss the future direction of the Demon Race’s World.

Almost everyone believed that the coming days would not be peaceful for the Demon Race’s World.

Chaos was highly likely to erupt across all regions.

After all, the Celestial Demon Alliance and the Holy Demon Alliance had already disintegrated, and even the Human Alliance was showing faint signs of splintering.

It was a near certainty that these three powers would no longer act as a bloc, but would instead fight for themselves.

But for the Ten Thousand Demon Alliance, which remained relatively stable, this chaotic situation could actually be considered a good thing.

Throughout the entire meeting, Tushan Jing Ci had not said a single word.

She just sat there quietly, listening wordlessly to everyone’s discussion and analysis. Her expression was as calm as still water, showing not a single ripple of emotion.

It was as if nothing in this world could ever again stir the faintest ripple in her heart.

“Jing Ci.”

After the meeting concluded, Tushan Meng spoke up, stopping Tushan Jing Ci, who was about to leave.

“Master.” Tushan Jing Ci turned and gave Tushan Meng a slight bow, her expression placid and unreadable.

“I should apologize to you about what happened to Xiao Mo,” Tushan Meng said slowly, her tone full of self-reproach. “Perhaps I never should have let Xiao Mo go to Quicksand City in the first place.”

“Master, you have no need to apologize to me.”

Tushan Jing Ci calmly shook her head, her voice even and unhurried.

“Going to Quicksand City was a decision Xiao Mo and I made together. No one could have expected something like that to happen. If you have no other orders, Master, I will take my leave.”

“Very well… Rest well for the next few days. You don’t need to worry too much about Tushan’s affairs.” Tushan Meng nodded. Her gaze landed on Tushan Jing Ci’s face, which was so calm it was almost rigid. A strange light flashed deep in her eyes, but she didn’t let it show.

“I know.” Tushan Jing Ci replied softly, then turned to leave the grand hall.

However, just as Tushan Jing Ci had taken only a few steps, she and everyone else present suddenly froze.

An invisible, oppressive force suddenly descended upon them.

They all sensed it at once—the Tushan Mountain Protection Array had activated on its own.

And there was only one reason the Tushan Array would react as if facing a formidable enemy: an Ascension Realm cultivator had arrived at Tushan.

“Is Miss Jing Ci present?”

A pleasant and clear voice, like a spring breeze blowing across the mountainside, echoed leisurely throughout Tushan.

Tushan Jing Ci took a step forward, her figure floating gracefully into the air.

Tushan Meng and the other nine Elders naturally followed close behind.

What met Tushan Jing Ci’s eyes were two women in Daoist Robes, their garments fluttering as they stood in the sky.

One of the women, judging by her appearance alone, looked to be about thirty years old and was exceedingly beautiful.

However, her actual age was likely over a thousand years.

The Daoist aura she exuded was shockingly dense; she was the one who had just triggered the Tushan Mountain Protection Array’s intense reaction.

At her side stood a young woman in her early twenties, wearing a thin veil that obscured her face.

For some reason, however, the moment Tushan Jing Ci looked at the young woman, a strange feeling arose in her heart.

It was as if she weren’t looking at another person, but was instead gazing into a bronze mirror, studying her own reflection.

The young woman, in turn, was blinking as she quietly gazed back at Tushan Jing Ci, her eyes holding an inexplicable meaning.

“So, it is Daoist Yun Xi who has come from so far away. Tushan has been remiss in its welcome. Please forgive our discourtesy, Daoist.”

Tushan Meng offered a respectful bow. Her expression was courteous and her words deferential, but in her heart, she was already on high alert.

“May I ask for what reason Daoist Yun Xi has personally graced our Tushan with your presence?”

“It is nothing so grand as giving guidance. I have merely come at the request of a young friend to deliver a letter to Miss Jing Ci and to give her a gift.” Yun Xi replied with a nod, her tone mild and calm.

“And which young friend might that be, Daoist Yun Xi?” Tushan Jing Ci asked in a low voice, which tightened unconsciously.

“The young friend Xiao Mo, of course,” Yun Xi said frankly.

The instant the name “Xiao Mo” left Yun Xi’s lips, Tushan Jing Ci’s eyes wavered. One hand involuntarily tightened its grip on her sleeve, and she bit down hard on her lip.
