I Was Forced To Marry The Phoenix Empress

Chapter 361: Early Morning

Chapter 361: Early Morning

Looking down at the piece of paper again, Yi Chen muttered with a sigh, "So, he’s really gone, huh..."

Knowing that he wouldn’t be seeing him for years already made him start to miss him a little. Especially after their interactions in the last fifteen days, where not only Feng Lei informed him about the dangers of the Crimson Fire Arts but also disclosed the truth about the Feng Clan’s past.

’Since he had declared it so confidently, the next time we’ll meet, Uncle is sure to be at the Core Building Stage...’ he thought while using that information as a sign to keep pushing himself further.

"So, what should I do now?" Yi Chen muttered the next instant while glancing out of the window to see the horizon, which had subtly started to turn orange.

After going through the letter, he was already as awake as he could be, and with no possibility of going back to sleep, he walked out to the courtyard.

Taking in a deep breath as the cold morning chill spread through his body, he made his way towards the banyan tree to sit at the spot where Feng Lei used to sit most of the time.

"I wonder where he went for secluded cultivation...is it far from here?" Yi Chen muttered to himself while glancing straight ahead at the sky, which was slowly turning brighter and brighter.

"S-Shit! I overslept!"

It was at that time that a surprised exclamation rang out from Qin Yao’s room, which brought a wide grin on Yi Chen’s face.

"Looks like he’s awake," Yi Chen muttered to himself as he saw Qin Yao rushing out of his room to knock on his door, only to act confused the next moment.

"Qin Yao, I’m here in the courtyard!"

Yi Chen’s voice rang inside, quickly bringing Qin Yao out of the manor to see him sitting cross-legged on the platform around the banyan tree.

"Brother Chen, what are you doing here? If you were already awake, then you could have woken me up..." Qin Yao muttered with a little grievance in his voice as he started to doubt whether they’d be able to finish making the extra meal for Feng Lei before he left the manor or not.

To those words, Yi Chen gave out a weak smile while saying, "It’s alright, Qin Yao. There’s no need for us to prepare Elder Lei’s breakfast."

"No need? Why? Did Master say that he didn’t want us to?" Qin Yao asked inquisitively the very next second.

"When I woke up and was about to wake you up, I found this sheet of paper in his room." Yi Chen said while passing the sheet to him.

"This..." A trace of confusion formed on Qin Yao’s face as he saw the sheet that Yi Chen had just taken out of his storage ring.

Grabbing onto the sheet, he glanced through the words that were written on the paper as his countenance visibly started to change.

"He left?... Just like that?" Qin Yao muttered with eyes widened, clearly finding it a little difficult to swallow.

He didn’t even get to bid him goodbye, for he had planned to do so today, as a feeling of emptiness began to well up in his heart.

Seeing this, Yi Chen took a few steps towards him and patted him on the shoulder, "While it’s a little sad, we must respect Elder Lei’s decision. Moreover, look at the brighter side. When you meet him again a few years later, you’ll be overcome with happiness, wouldn’t you?"

Yi Chen paused for a second and asked with a smile, "Can you imagine that scene in your head?"

"Mhm. I can..." Qin Yao answered while imagining the same scene, a subtle smile spreading over his disappointed expression as the scene of meeting Feng Lei again after several years played in his mind.

"Very well then. I need you to remember this image and keep working hard in the remaining period, for Elder Lei would surely be disappointed to see you at that time as a person who was overtaken by his sadness and ended up not focusing on his training. You don’t want that to happen, right?" Yi Chen asked while looking straight into his eyes.

"...I don’t."

"Very well then. Now, quickly go and freshen up then. Once we are finished with our morning tasks, we’ll give our bodies a rest and devote the entire day to meditating in preparation for the third stage of the entrance test." Yi Chen said while patting Qin Yao’s back the next second.

"Y-Yes, Brother Chen." Qin Yao nodded a second later while making his way inside, while Yi Chen used the time to do the breakfast preparation.

A few hours later, they started their meditation session, which continued until late evening before they finally called it a night a little earlier than usual so that their minds were appropriately rested for tomorrow’s entrance test.

"Tomorrow’s the day..." Yi Chen muttered while turning his head on the pillow to glance outside the window.

The crescent moon outside that shone as gently as always seemed to have a calming effect on his somewhat anxious mind, helping him fall asleep soon after.

The next morning, the two of them woke up early and, after having an early breakfast, were all set to leave the manor by seven in the morning.

The journey to the sect was long, which was why they were starting this early.

However, despite it being so early in the morning, when the two of them came out of the courtyard gate, they saw four figures who had been waiting for them.

"Yi Chen, you’re here!" Feng Haoran exclaimed with a bright expression on his face the moment he saw Yi Chen’s figure as he made his way towards him.

On both sides of him, the First, Second and Third elders were standing respectively.

They too carried a similarly cheerful expression as they followed behind Feng Haoran.

Yi Chen, who wasn’t expecting to see the three elders here as well, was a little taken aback. However, he soon regained himself and greeted them the next second.

"Greetings, Patriarch." He bowed towards Feng Haoran before doing the same towards the others.
