Chapter 364: Test Starts

’Zhou Mei?’ Yi Chen immediately thought after hearing the voice as he turned toward the direction.

She was standing next to a woman who seemed to be her guard and was energetically waving her hand at him.

Yi Chen waved back at her and, giving a nod to the coach driver, made his way towards her along with Qin Yao.

"How long ago did you arrive here?" Yi Chen asked with a curious expression.

"Not long at all. It’s only been five minutes since I got out of my carriage and I’ve been looking for you ever since." Zhou Mei answered instantly with an energetic glow in her eyes.

Seeing this, Yi Chen couldn’t help but chuckle, "It seems that you’re completely well rested for today’s test."

"Of course!" Zhou Mei grinned with a wide smile and continued, "I slept for almost twelve hours yesterday. Brother Chen may not believe me, but I really feel that if I were to go against you right now, there is a significant chance that I will beat you."

As she said those words, a serious countenance appeared on her face, making Yi Chen laugh out loud, "It indeed seems like you’ve rested more than enough."

At those words, Zhou Mei snorted through her nose in irritation while turning to her side, only to meet Qin Yao’s gaze.

"A-Ah, greetings, Senior Sister Zhou Mei." He greeted her with a cordial smile.

"Ah, Qin Yao, I remember. It’s been a while since we last met." Zhou Mei answered with a cordial smile as the two of them started exchanging some small talk.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen was craning his neck above the crowd of people in an attempt to look for others from the Feng Clan.

"Hm? Have they not arrived here yet?" Yi Chen muttered in confusion a few moments later, attracting both Qin Yao and Zhou Mei’s attention.

"Who is Brother Chen talking about?" Zhou Mei asked curiously.

"Just our fellow clansmen. I thought we would all have mostly arrived here by now, but I’m unable to find them in this crowd." Yi Chen muttered while pursing his lips.

"Oh, them. They are all gathered around that tree." Zhou Mei answered the next instant while pointing a few meters away, "I had gone there to look for you earlier only to find out that you have yet to arrive."

"Ah, so that’s where they are. Thanks, Little Mei." Yi Chen said with a smile and was about to tag along with Qin Yao when he noticed that apart from her guard, there wasn’t really anyone around Zhou Mei.

"Would you like to accompany us as well? It’s a good chance to familiarise yourself with your future fellow disciples." Yi Chen asked with an inviting smile.

"...I would love to." Zhou Mei, whose eyes had subtly dimmed sensing their departure, brightened the very instant she heard Yi Chen’s words.

"Haha, very well then. Come along." Yi Chen gestured with his hand, and a few minutes later the four of them (including Zhou Mei’s guard) arrived next to a few familiar faces.

"Brother Qin!"

Feng Min exclaimed with sparkling eyes the moment she noticed him in the crowd.

Seeing this, Qin Yao was also about to wave back at her with the same energy, but suddenly, noticing Yi Chen’s gaze, which was filled with amusement, from the corner of his eye, a wave of embarrassment washed over him.

"H-Hello..."

As a result, he was barely able to match Feng Min’s energy.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen’s gaze immediately fell on Feng Ning as he greeted her with a subtle bow.

After returning from the tomb, he was fully invested in his training, so apart from going out to meet Zhou Mei, he barely had any time to meet with Feng Ning and others with whom he had shared memorable moments during the Inter Clan Tournament.

Understanding the reason behind his smile, Feng Ning let out a slight chuckle and said while waving her hand, "It’s alright, Brother Chen. I did hear that you had gone out for some reason from my younger sister, so it’s natural that you would be busy with the test preparation after returning to the clan."

"Haha, thanks for your understanding," Yi Chen nodded with a relieved smile. However, the next second, his eyes narrowed in a teasing manner as he said, "Sister Ning, there was something interesting which I got to hear from Qin Yao when I came back..."

"Something interesting?" Feng Ning asked with confusion but noticing Yi Chen’s expression a layer of red began to form on her face, "A-Ah that..."

"Y-Yes, that." Yi Chen said with an amused expression before wishing her the next moment, "Congratulations on getting engaged to Brother Wei."

"T-Thank you." Feng Ning nodded with a smile as the layer of red slowly started fading from her face.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen looked around in search of Wei Tian but was unable to find him. "Hm? Where’s Brother Wei, though? He should be with you, right?"

"Ah, no. He was with me a few minutes ago, but since he’s applying as an unaffiliated cultivator, he had gone to the area where all the unaffiliated cultivators would be gathered for the testing." Feng Ning explained.

"I see, that’s a pity. I wanted to congratulate him as well. About his injuries, he’s all recovered by now, right?" Yi Chen asked the next second.

"Yes, Brother Wei is completely fine now and even stronger than before." Feng Ning said with a subtle hint of pride in her voice.

"Haha, that’s good to hear." Yi Chen nodded with a smile.

Feeling a subtle tug on his sleeves, he suddenly remembered Zhou Mei’s presence and quickly introduced the two of them to her.

"This here is Zhou Mei, my friend. We met each other for the first time on my way to the Jade City back then." Yi Chen said while gesturing towards her.

"Ah."

Both Feng Ning and Feng Min widened their eyes in realisation after learning Zhou Mei’s identity and immediately greeted her back. They were more than willing to develop a friendly relationship with her.

Thanks to that, Zhou Mei was easily able to bond well with everyone as they started talking about a few miscellaneous things while sharing everything they had learnt about the following tests.

A few minutes later, the sound of the gong alerted everyone who was present outside the gates, indicating the start of the entrance test.
