Chapter 548: Chapter 348: Black Crystal Town (1)

Mo Ming’s voice sounded in his ear.

His tone was as gentle as ever, which still made Zhao Chi feel awkward.

"Zhao Chi, we’re almost at Dark Night City. If you have time now, come on out. There’s an inspection and registration before we enter the city, and you’ll need to be present in person."

"Understood, Captain Mo. I’ll be right there."

After explaining the situation to Gu Qing, Zhao Chi immediately teleported out.

The scenery changed.

Zhao Chi returned to the dim environment.

He was standing on his carriage. Next to his legs were eight barrels of Kerosene, and four Soldiers were seated beside him. The package that had been here before was gone.

Two strangers were driving the carriage from the driver’s seat. He couldn’t tell if they were Lords or Heroes.

Mo Ming and Tie Shan were both in the carriage up ahead.

The entire convoy had now spread out into formation. The merchant wagons were in the very center, surrounded by the personnel responsible for casting the Array. On the outermost layer were cavalrymen carrying glowing orbs.

Although it was still dark all around, there were many scattered points of light.

He could make out the orange-red flames of torches, the cold, clear white light of Spiritual Lamps, and the glow of the Light Ball Technique.

The distant lights all came from other people.

There were convoys everywhere.

Many were traveling in the same direction, and many were going the opposite way.

Everyone was advancing on the same, extremely vast plane.

There were so many convoys around now, but judging by Tie Shan and Mo Ming’s expressions, they seemed much more relaxed.

Mo Ming seemed to sense something and turned to see Zhao Chi.

He smiled. "So you’re out, Zhao Chi? We’ll be entering the bounds of Dark Night City in about ten minutes. Have a seat for now."

"Oh, okay."

Zhao Chi sat down next to the Soldier beside him and observed his surroundings.

He hadn’t noticed before, but after sitting down, Zhao Chi discovered many Flying Creatures in the sky.

He could recognize Griffins, Lion Scorpions, Gargoyles, Harpies, Dragon Eagles, bat people, and more.

There weren’t a large number of them, but there was a wide variety of species.

As the surrounding convoys moved away or drew near, the Flying Creatures constantly flew to and fro.

The ground wasn’t quiet, either.

He could often see the ground churning, which meant there were likely creatures following them from below.

’Pangolins? Earth Dragons? Rat-men?’

He couldn’t see what was happening underground, so Zhao Chi could only guess.

After a while longer, Tie Shan suddenly stood up and roared to the rear, "All sections, report your status! See if anyone is still in their territory and get them out here!"

"Captain Tie, the rear is all present!"

"The center is all present!"

"All present on my end, too."

"Everyone’s here!"

Reports came in from all over; everyone had come out of their territories.

Tie Shan roared, "Good! We’re about to enter the outskirts of Dark Night City! Hold on tight!"

The Soldier next to Zhao Chi gripped the wooden railing on the edge of the carriage tightly.

Zhao Chi quickly grabbed it as well.

Suddenly, a thin line of light appeared up ahead, stretching from the heavens to the earth.

It was as if the world had been split in two by a single slash.

Soon, the line of light split open, and a blinding glare shone out, forcing Zhao Chi to squint.

At that moment, the carriage began to jolt.

Zhao Chi gripped the railing even tighter.

But then, suddenly, the jolting completely disappeared.

Even the slight swaying from before was gone.

Zhao Chi realized the carriage was flying.

It was flying toward the large, oval-shaped hole of light that had split open ahead.

All of a sudden, a piercing sound rang in his ears.

But it lasted for only a second before vanishing, followed by an extreme silence.

It was like a ringing in his ears; he couldn’t hear a thing.

At that moment, a wave of Energy passed through his Body.

It vanished in an instant.

A system prompt popped up:

[Your Identity has been confirmed and successfully registered. Welcome to Dark Night City.]

’So this is the pre-entry inspection and registration?’

’That was fast!’

Immediately after, the view before him opened up.

The entire convoy drove into a vast and bright space.

Just like when they had set out, there was only brown earth all around. The Wall of Fog stood far in the distance, like a white line on the horizon.

The sun had already set, but the sky was still bright.

It was much brighter than the dim space they had just been in.

There were many convoys up ahead.

The convoys were spread out in a wide expanse, but all of them were advancing in an orderly fashion.

Zhao Chi noticed that the Griffins and Female Elves in the sky had vanished, and the cavalry on either side were gone as well.

Looking back, he saw that the original team of over 1,000 people had been reduced to just over 800.

It seemed over 200 people had been teleported back to their territories.

The Soldiers around Zhao Chi all stood up. At the sound of a whistle, the horses from the rear drew near.

All these Soldiers mounted their horses and moved to the front of the formation.

Aik jumped over from the rear, landing on Zhao Chi’s carriage and sitting down across from him.

His expression was very relaxed.

"How are you holding up, Zhao Chi? You okay?"

Zhao Chi nodded. "I’m fine. It’s just my first time experiencing all this, so it feels very new and strange."

Aik laughed. "That’s good. I’m going to take a nap. I’m so tired."

After speaking, he really did lean against the carriage and fall asleep.

’It seems we’re safe now.’

Zhao Chi paid him no more mind and continued to observe his surroundings.

About half an hour later, the convoys ahead began to disappear one by one.

Tie Shan announced, "Everyone, listen up! We are about to enter Dark Night City. Once we’re inside, no one move. Wait for my arrangements."

"Alright, Captain Tie."

"Understood, Captain."

"Roger!"

Everyone responded one after another.

A few minutes later, Zhao Chi saw a flash before his eyes.

At the same time, a cacophony of noise flooded his ears.

Just like teleporting between territories, the entire convoy entered Dark Night City all at once.

The sky was pitch-black.

There wasn’t a single sliver of light.

Zhao Chi found it strange. It wasn’t even 7 o’clock yet; it was impossible for there to be no light at all.

But his surroundings were brightly lit.
