Chapter 1201: Save Me

Chapter 1201: Save Me

There was too little information. Tan Hao’s whereabouts remained a mystery.

Suddenly, Qin Sang made a new discovery. He lowered his head to look at the floor, then suddenly swept his sleeve, sending the meditation cushion, the array, and everything else out of the stone house.

A moment later, Qin Sang extended one hand, pressing his palm slowly downward toward the ground.

Within the Sky Eyes, intricate patterns interwove.

Crack... Crack... The ground could no longer bear the pressure and split apart with a series of fractures.

Just then, a burst of dark light erupted. The ground collapsed, and the stone house tilted.

There was another space beneath!

Qin Sang waved his hand casually, stabilizing the stone house. The twelve devilish banners continued to circle around him, ready to respond to any sudden change.

However, the barrier beneath the stone house was unexpectedly weak. Its power was far inferior to the witch race barrier outside, and it was clearly set by a human cultivator.

"This matches Tan Hao’s level of cultivation..." Qin Sang murmured thoughtfully.

He easily uncovered the hidden secret beneath the stone house and found that the space below was quite vast. Entering through a crack, he descended slowly.

Soon, Qin Sang landed on solid ground. His spiritual consciousness spread outward, taking in the surrounding terrain in an instant.

At the center of the space stood a circular, peculiar altar.

Aside from that, the entire area was empty. Qin Sang noticed some fragments scattered around, likely remnants of artifacts that had once been placed here but had been destroyed by some impact.

Only the altar remained intact. It was obvious that it held something unusual.

Qin Sang was about to approach the altar when he suddenly seemed to notice something. His figure paused as he reached downward, drawing a fragment into his hand.

The fragment was delicate and translucent, pure white like jade, without a single impurity.

"White jade..." Qin Sang recalled how, back when they had broken into a branch of Heavenly Corpse Sect, he and Yu Dayue had taken refuge in a forbidden area during the eruption of Earth Malevolent Qi. They had survived by relying on an array centered around white jade.

The material of this fragment was remarkably similar.

Is this place a branch of Heavenly Corpse Sect? There’s no sign of Earth Malevolent Qi... Was it completely dispersed by that fluctuation a hundred years ago? A thought stirred in Qin Sang’s mind as he flew toward the altar.

The circular altar was engraved with strange patterns. At its center floated a mass of dense black qi, its nature unknown.

Qin Sang observed it for a while but could not determine its origin. After hesitating briefly, he separated a thread of spiritual consciousness and cautiously touched the black qi.

"Save me..." The instant his spiritual consciousness made contact, a voice suddenly emerged from within the black qi.

The voice was hoarse and grating, like two pieces of metal scraping together. It sounded like an old woman who had been parched for countless years, crying out desperately for help.

Qin Sang’s expression changed slightly. He immediately severed that strand of spiritual consciousness, while the devilish banners around him fluttered violently.

Soon after, the black qi returned to normal. He waited for a moment. After confirming there was no abnormality, Qin Sang once again extended his spiritual consciousness.

"Save me..." the same voice sounded again.

Clearly, this was not someone speaking in real time. The voice had always existed within the altar, continuously sending out a plea for help.

Qin Sang, confident in his abilities, used his spiritual consciousness to question it. But the voice did not change in the slightest, nor did it respond. It simply repeated its plea over and over.

Tan Hao must have discovered this altar. Chen Heng must have come here as well. Most likely, they saw the one calling for help, or perhaps they already rescued that person. Qin Sang thought to himself.

Soon after, he realized that the black qi contained more than just the plea for help. Following it came another message. "Rescue me from this confinement, and I will pass on a supreme art. I swear a karmic oath. There will be a reward!"

"Karmic oath?" Qin Sang silently repeated those words. This was his first time hearing of such a thing.

It sounded somewhat similar to a heart devil oath, but the concept of karma was far more mysterious and unsettling.

Karma was something profoundly elusive, beyond what a Spiritual Infant cultivator could touch. Qin Sang had never even heard of it before, let alone Tan Hao or Chen Heng. Who knew what a karmic oath truly was, or whether it held any binding power?

After these words appeared, the black qi suddenly churned, then formed an image before quickly returning to its original state.

"That outline... It’s the entire Heavenly Scar!" Qin Sang instantly memorized the image. He then realized that a particular location within the map of the Heavenly Scar was specially marked. It was very likely a guidepost indicating where the mysterious person was imprisoned.

At this point, the situation had largely become clear. This place was most likely a branch of Heavenly Corpse Sect. After the sect’s destruction, the branch had long been abandoned.

Yet within Heavenly Corpse Sect, a mysterious individual had been imprisoned, continuously trying to send out a plea for help. The fluctuation a hundred years ago had very likely been caused by that person, in an attempt to lure others here to rescue her.

Chen Heng had been drawn here. He had most likely obtained Heavenly Corpse Sect’s inheritance, though whether he had rescued the mysterious person remained unknown.

Tan Hao, having obtained Chen Heng’s belongings, had followed the trail here. He had also discovered the plea for help and stayed for a period of time, only to disappear again after leaving.

"The marked location could be the headquarters of Heavenly Corpse Sect. Communication between the headquarters and branches can be achieved through an altar like this, and it may even be possible to remotely activate the altar’s power. There are records of similar things in ancient texts. As for the sealed mysterious person, it’s impossible to tell whether she’s good or evil. That karmic oath sounds intimidating but with Tan Hao’s urgency to save someone, regardless of whether it’s true or false, he would definitely have gone to the marked location to try," Qin Sang said.

Now that he had found clues about the Heavenly Corpse Sect, Chen Heng’s movements were no longer as important.

Qin Sang analyzed the information and inferred Tan Hao’s likely path. What puzzled him most was why Tan Hao had stayed here for so long, and where the witch race barrier had come from.

"Tan Hao already rescued the mysterious person, which is why no one responded to me. Then they returned here, used this place as a cave dwelling, and left after recovering for some time... The one who left the barrier was the mysterious person?" Qin Sang reasoned that this explanation was the only one that made sense.

The mysterious person either had mastery over witch race secret techniques, or was a member of the witch race!

A chill ran through Qin Sang’s heart. There are no traces of the witch race in Beichen Realm or the other three realms. Is this mysterious person, like Bai, an ancient witch race powerhouse who has survived since ancient times? Where has she gone now?

As for why the mysterious person had been imprisoned, and what connection she had to Heavenly Corpse Sect, Qin Sang could not deduce. He would have to investigate personally.

After a long period of contemplation, Qin Sang decided to go to the marked location himself.

His goal was the same as Tan Hao’s, to find a way to save someone. He would inevitably have to follow the same path Tan Hao had taken.

Qin Sang was extremely wary of the mysterious person. If she were a founder of Heavenly Corpse Sect who had passed down its Dao Lineage, then she might not belong to the righteous path.

However, Tan Hao had already gone ahead as a trailblazer.

With his limited cultivation, Tan Hao would not have been able to perfectly conceal his traces. As long as he had gone to the marked location, Qin Sang would surely be able to detect clues and make his own judgment calmly.

After confirming that nothing had been overlooked, Qin Sang returned to the surface. He activated his true essence and restored the barrier of the stone house along with everything inside.

He did not know what Tan Hao had done back then, nor what fate had befallen him. Worried that something might have happened, and uncertain whether this Tan Hao was still the same Tan Hao, Qin Sang ultimately decided not to leave any message behind.
