Chapter 1278: Schemes from All Sides
"Although the demon race helped us drive away Sin Abyss, their demon troops will not take a single step beyond Tianxing Highland. Once we push into the grasslands, we will have to rely on ourselves. However, we can negotiate with those demon kings individually. As long as we offer conditions they cannot refuse, we should be able to recruit some of them..." Daoist Master Zhenyi said while glancing at Qin Sang.
The demon race had been compelled by an ancient pact to send troops to resist foreign invasion, but the pact never required them to help invade others. This condition was entirely reasonable.
Qin Sang slightly shook his head. He understood that Daoist Master Zhenyi wanted him to act as an intermediary.
However, even when he had disguised himself as a member of the demon race, he had not managed to befriend many demon kings. Only the Snake King could be considered an acquaintance. Now that his true identity had been exposed, it was unclear what the Snake King would think.
Seeing that Qin Sang was unwilling to step forward, Daoist Master Zhenyi showed a trace of disappointment, though he quickly understood Qin Sang’s difficulty and did not press further.
"Hmph! Heavenly Demon Hill would love nothing more than to see us humans fight among ourselves until rivers of blood flow endlessly. If not for the constraints of the pact, they would not only stand by and watch, they would likely stir trouble in secret, pushing us and Sin Abyss to fight to the death. Their calculations this time are quite clever. If we cannot completely destroy Sin Abyss’s momentum, we will fall into an endless cycle of war again." Someone snorted coldly, clearly dissatisfied with the demon race’s actions.
Everyone in the hall understood the demon race’s intentions.
At once, someone chuckled. "If the positions of the human race and the demon race were reversed, we would also fear them unifying and turning their strength against us. It is only human nature. Regardless of their motives, the fact that they sent troops to aid us at our most difficult moment means we cannot demand more."
"Still, Heavenly Demon Hill has always been united, unlike our human race, which suffers constant internal strife. Over the years, they have indeed grown stronger, with demon kings emerging one after another. Fortunately, Daoist Qin was born human and not Demon King Ming Yue. Otherwise, we would truly have to worry that once the demon race gains sufficient strength, they might refuse to remain confined to Heavenly Demon Hill and stir up trouble again." A Tianxing Alliance Spiritual Infant cultivator sighed.
Even Dongyang Bo had to admit that, judging by recent battle achievements, Qin Sang possessed the greatest potential among all newly advanced Spiritual Infant cultivators of the Two-Domain Alliance, perhaps even unprecedented.
Of course, how far he would ultimately go remained uncertain. It depended on whether Qin Sang would encounter an insurmountable bottleneck. Such tragedies were not unheard of.

Tianxing Highland.
Before the second staircase, within the central army camp of Sin Abyss.
Here, Sin Abyss had built a city from packed earth. Banners fluttered everywhere, and a vast army of cultivators was gathering.
At the center of the camp, within the grandest palace, a cultivator dressed in a blue Daoist robe, with a black beard and a cold expression, stood before the hall, gazing at the endless snowy plains in the distance.
Only one staircase remained between this place and Tianxing City at the summit of Tianxing Highland, yet it was like an insurmountable chasm, firmly defended by Tianxing Alliance and Small Cold Domain.
This man was Canghong, one of the three powerhouses of Sin Abyss, stationed at the central army.
His strength was equally unfathomable, no weaker than Tianzheng. He had once been the leading figure of the righteous path within Sin Abyss, only relinquishing the title of strongest after Old Devil Ye rose to prominence.
From his appearance alone, Canghong looked to be around fifty years old.
He stared at Tianxing Highland for a long time. Thinking of the various reports he had received recently, he let out a faint sigh before returning inside the hall.
At the center of the great hall, radiant light shone brilliantly. There stood a miniature snow mountain.
Upon the mountain, every camp and city, including Tianxing City, had been perfectly replicated. Countless tiny figures, no larger than ants, gathered across the slopes.
These figures were not lifeless. They moved freely and could cast Dao Techniques and spells just like real cultivators.
Each figure was colored differently. For instance, the red figures represented the Spiritual Infant cultivators of the Two-Domain Alliance.
These had been created by Sin Abyss using barriers and spirit talismans, resembling a mortal battlefield model.
Canghong frowned deeply. After pondering for a moment, he suddenly raised his hand and began tapping the snow mountain.
The figures immediately began moving rapidly. Some retreated, others advanced. Amid their clashes, multicolored spells and barrier lights flashed, and soon figures fell in droves.
"I almost forgot!" Canghong suddenly recalled something and pointed at two red figures.
These represented Qin Sang and Qingjun.
He had already learned what had occurred within Blood Lake. That their enemies had quickly found the core of the Black Tower Array had already exceeded expectations, but what truly surprised them was the sudden eruption of strength from Qin Sang and Qingjun.
Without these two, even a direct confrontation would not have ended so disastrously, nor forced Sin Abyss into such a passive position.
The strength of the two red figures increased dramatically.
For experts of this level, if no cultivator of equal realm restrained them, the only options were to deploy multiple Spiritual Infant cultivators or rely on the Nether Crystal Tower to contain them. Allowing them to wreak havoc on the battlefield was something no one could afford.
As expected, Sin Abyss began to show signs of strain. Even with the Nether Crystal Tower, they were steadily pushed back.
After running through the simulation once, Canghong brushed his hand across the snow mountain. Everything reset, and the figures rearranged into new formations, continuing their battle.
Again and again, the outcome remained unfavorable for Sin Abyss.
After a while, Canghong took out several sword talismans and, using his finger as a brush, swiftly inscribed upon them. With a flick, the talismans turned into streaks of light and shot out of the hall.
Having expended much mental energy, he rubbed his brow and was about to return to cultivate when he suddenly sensed something. He lifted his head and looked outside.
"These past days, I have troubled you, Daoist Canghong..." The voice approached from afar.
Moments later, a figure appeared before the hall. It was none other than Old Devil Ye.
Seeing that he had come alone, Canghong frowned slightly and quickly asked, "How are Old Ghost Tianzheng’s injuries?"
Old Devil Ye sighed and stepped into the hall. "Tianzheng used a secret technique to escape death. However, the technique's consumption is high, and those opponents were ruthless. His injuries worsened, and his very foundation nearly collapsed. We sent him back to the Xingheng Sect’s Star Pool and jointly infused true essence to stabilize his condition. He is gradually recovering, but he will not be able to act for the next few years."
Hearing this, Canghong inwardly sighed. This was the worst outcome he had anticipated.
Old Devil Ye suddenly coughed a few times.
Canghong looked him over. "I heard you were forced to self-destruct an incarnation comparable to your true body?"
Old Devil Ye gave a bitter smile. "No need to look at me like that, Daoist. Inspired by a secret technique I had obtained earlier, I only recently pushed that incarnation to the advanced stage while refining the treasure banner in Blood Lake. If I had possessed such an incarnation before, I would not have held back, nor would there have been any need to hide it. Yet before I could achieve any merit, it was destroyed by that brat, Demon King Ming Yue, and even implicated my true body."
"Demon King Ming Yue?" Canghong chuckled. "It seems like you have not received the latest news. That person is not a demon king at all, but a human cultivator."
