Chapter 1360: Grievances Settled

Chapter 1360: Grievances Settled

Qin Sang entered the sect.

After receiving the report, Tan Yi’en hurried out of the main hall and bowed to welcome him. Behind him followed a tall, sturdy man with a calm expression. It was Mu Yifeng.

Mu Yifeng had once been carefree by nature, with a scruffy beard and an unkempt appearance. Now, however, he possessed a bearing far beyond what he had in the past, befitting the leader of a sect.

Old friends met again. Two hundred years had passed since their last parting.

Qin Sang’s and Mu Yifeng’s eyes both lit up. Mu Yifeng’s face was full of joy, but a trace of hesitation flashed deep in his eyes. He opened his mouth, unsure how he should address Qin Sang.

"Senior Brother Mu!" Qin Sang flashed down in front of them and called him by the same form of address he had used back in Shaohua Mountain. He said reproachfully, "When did you become an ascetic? You really made me wait far too long!"

Mu Yifeng’s expression eased, and the hesitation in his eyes vanished at once. He grinned and laughed heartily, then nodded heavily. "Junior Brother Qin! It’s been too long!"

Tan Yi’en greeted Qin Sang then tactfully withdrew. Jingyu and the white cat both went elsewhere to rest and did not disturb the two of them.

Qin Sang and Mu Yifeng entered the main hall arm in arm.

After some reminiscing, the unfamiliarity between them quickly disappeared. As they recalled the many things that had happened in the past, both of them were filled with emotion.

"I never imagined that after we parted back then you would soar to such heights and achieve something so extraordinary! To be honest, I was uneasy before this. I didn’t know whether, after meeting again, you would still acknowledge me as your senior brother." Mu Yifeng spoke with emotion.

His words came from the heart. The dignity of a Spiritual Infant cultivator could not be offended.

Moreover, Qin Sang’s strength was top-tier even among the Spiritual Infant cultivators of Beichen Realm.

The senior and junior brothers of the past were now separated by an insurmountable gulf.

"Senior Brother Mu, without you, I wouldn't be here today." Qin Sang’s expression turned solemn, and he said seriously, "No matter what kind of person I become in the end, I will never forget the kindness you showed me before the bronze hall."

Mu Yifeng waved his hands repeatedly and did not take credit for it. "Have you forgotten, Junior Brother Qin? Back in Yuncang Marshlands, you saved my life first. If I had raised my hand against my benefactor, how would I have had the face to keep living in this world?"

Qin Sang shook his head, but his gratitude toward Mu Yifeng did not diminish in the slightest.

If it had been anyone else, even if they were facing their benefactor, they might not have had the courage to defy a Spiritual Infant grandmaster. Mu Yifeng had not only shattered the Nine-Fire Divine Blade, which was extremely important to him, but had also wagered his own life on it.

"After I returned, I wanted to meet you, but your temperament had changed so much. You secluded yourself on Jingyue Peak and never appeared. No one dared to trespass into Jingyue Peak either... What happened after I escaped back then?" Qin Sang asked about Mu Yifeng’s experiences.

Mu Yifeng hid nothing from Qin Sang and smiled bitterly. "Back then, I thought I had covered everything perfectly. Looking back now, I was far too naive. How could such a petty trick possibly escape Grandmaster’s eyes? Fortunately, Fairy Chenyan pleaded with Grandmaster on my behalf and bestowed healing pills on me. She brought me out of Ziwei Palace, and later even allowed me to open a cave dwelling below Jingyue Peak. That was why Grandmaster didn’t kill me, this unworthy disciple of his..."

As he spoke, Mu Yifeng gave Qin Sang a somewhat suggestive look. "After leaving Ziwei Palace, Fairy Chenyan searched everywhere for you. When she couldn’t find you after a long time, everyone thought you had already died. Who would’ve thought you had hidden yourself so well?"

Mu Yifeng did not know the relationship between Qin Sang and Chenyan. All kinds of signs indicated that their relationship was not simple.

Mu Yifeng had heard a little about Qin Sang becoming a human cauldron for Foundation Building, but the target had clearly been Sage Mawu, who had died on the battlefield soon after the war of the three realms began.

No matter how he thought about it, Mu Yifeng would never dare connect such a thing to the peerless and otherworldly Fairy Chenyan.

Hearing this, Qin Sang frowned slightly. Chenyan could not really have been bewitched by Dongyang Bo into cultivating that nonsense Stone Bridge Zen, could she?

"Did she ever mention why she was looking for me?" Qin Sang asked.

Things were different now. Even if Chenyan truly had some scheme, he was no longer afraid.

Chenyan had formed her Spiritual Infant only a little over two hundred years ago. Even though she was a prodigy with a Heavenly Spiritual Root, it was impossible for her to have broken through to the late stage of the Spiritual Infant Realm in such a short time.

Senior Sister Qingjun was an exception; she was a monster and a genius among geniuses.

Mu Yifeng gave a chuckle. "What status did I have back then? How would I dare overreach? I suppose I benefited from misfortune. Not long after I returned from Ziwei Palace, while recovering from my injuries, I had a sudden insight. Who would’ve thought I would form my core so smoothly? After that, I was summoned by Fairy Chenyan. She first asked about you, Junior Brother, then bestowed on me an astra similar to the Nine-Fire Divine Blade and guided my later cultivation. Fairy Chenyan stood far above us. From the moment I entered Jingyue Peak to cultivate in seclusion until she left, I only met her one time."

As he spoke, Mu Yifeng glanced sideways at Qin Sang. His eyes seemed to be saying, "And you still say there’s nothing between you two? She even helped repay the debt you owed."

Qin Sang was also somewhat confused and could not figure out Chenyan’s attitude. Of course, Qin Sang was not naive enough to think Chenyan had any affection for him. Could it have been guilt for dragging innocent people into the matter?

"I remember when you were at the Foundation Building Realm, the few times you broke through bottlenecks were all when you were badly injured. I didn’t expect forming your core to be no exception. Of all the immortal cultivators I’ve met, Senior Brother Mu, you’re truly one of a kind. No wonder you were able to reach the late stage of the Golden Core Realm," Qin Sang said.

Qin Sang recalled how difficult his own Core Formation had been. Comparing people really could make one furious.

Mu Yifeng put away his joking expression and said in a low voice, "I only broke through to the late stage of the Golden Core Realm a few days ago. With my talent, if I didn’t have any opportunities, I probably would have needed several more decades of seclusion before I had any hope. This breakthrough was thanks to a spirit pill bestowed by Grandmaster."

"Dongyang Bo?" Qin Sang nodded slightly and was not surprised.

The leader of Shaohua Mountain had to at least be at the late stage of the Golden Core Realm to keep the situation under control.

Spirit pills that helped Golden Core cultivators break through minor realms were very precious, but they were easier to obtain than spirit pills for breaking through to the Spiritual Infant Realm. Shaohua Mountain certainly would not lack them.

Mu Yifeng hesitated for a moment. "After Fairy Chenyan left, I knew Grandmaster didn’t favor me, so I hid in Jingyue Peak year-round and never came out. Half a year ago, Che Yutao failed to form his Spiritual Infant and died. Grandmaster came to me and laid out the stakes. After thinking it through carefully, I agreed."

After a pause, Mu Yifeng looked straight into Qin Sang’s eyes. "No matter what, everything I, Mu Yifeng, have today came from Shaohua Mountain. Even after that incident, the sect never cut off my cultivation resources. I cannot forget the sect’s kindness. I cannot just stand by and watch Shaohua Mountain decline!"

"Senior Brother Mu, you can rest assured. The grievances are only between Dongyang Bo and me," Qin Sang said, knowing what Mu Yifeng was worried about.

"I knew I hadn’t misjudged you!" Mu Yifeng relaxed and looked greatly relieved. "Grandmaster left a few words that should have been meant for you, Junior Brother Qin. From now on, he will never set foot in Shaohua Mountain again. Every matter concerning Shaohua Mountain will be decided by me alone!"

Qin Sang’s eyes narrowed slightly. He had not expected Dongyang Bo to have such resolve. He had poured his life’s effort into the sect, yet he could let go as soon as he said he would.

Still, Qin Sang had to admit that this decision was brilliant, and that it was the most beneficial choice for Shaohua Mountain.

Qin Sang could not make Mu Yifeng refuse. "If Dongyang Bo does what he says and doesn’t come looking for trouble, I won’t bother with him either!"
