Extra: His Nuanyue (Part 1)

「First Meeting.」

The crematorium always had an unsettling atmosphere.

Hua Yusen walked out. He had just come to see a comrade-in-arms off on his final journey. His friend, who had taken multiple bullets, was now nothing more than a handful of ashes in an urn.

The man was dead, but his comrade would live on forever in his heart.

Hua Yusen tilted his head back to look at the gloomy, gray sky. He blinked, refusing to cry. Tears were a sign of cowardice.

’A debt of blood must be paid in blood. I will avenge my friend.’

Just as Hua Yusen was lost in his grief, he suddenly heard a shrill cry. "Nuanyang, open your eyes! Look at your sister, look at your sister!"

The woman’s voice was hoarse as she clung to a staff member, trying to stop them from taking away the body of the man named Nuanyang, who was about to be cremated.

She was pushed aside and fell to the ground, but she scrambled back to her feet and chased after them, desperate to pull back her younger brother from the incinerator.

Just as she was about to catch up, she was held back by several people around her.

"Let me go! Give me back my brother! You’re all monsters, monsters...!" the woman shrieked, struggling with all her might. But with her small frame, she was no match for the older and younger woman beside her and was held back firmly.

Her voice echoed down the long hallway. The instant she turned her head, Hua Yusen saw her delicate face, her eyes filled with hatred, despair, helplessness, and madness...

’What could she have possibly been through to have so many emotions swirling in her eyes?’

Hua Yusen was lost in thought for a moment, then shook his head with a soft sigh. If he could, he too would have screamed and cried to vent the pain in his heart.

But he couldn’t.

’My friend’s death is still unavenged, and my family’s feuds are unresolved. I can’t afford to agonize over things like this.’

Leaving the crematorium, Hua Yusen shook his head, trying to clear the image from his mind. Yet, in countless unguarded moments to come, he would always remember those bright eyes, so full of complex emotions.

「Second Meeting.」

He had gotten his revenge, but was gravely injured in the process.

Hua Yusen hadn’t expected to survive, but perhaps King Yama found him too stubborn to die and refused to take him. After three months in a coma, he woke up.

The family crisis had passed, but he, personally, had his engagement broken off.

While he was in a coma, the doctors had said he might never wake up, or that if he did, he could be in a vegetative state.

The Guo Family didn’t want their daughter to be a living widow, so they took the opportunity to break off the engagement.

Hua Yusen wasn’t bothered by the broken engagement. He understood—it was only human nature. In fact, he felt a sense of relief.

He had been poisoned as a child, and as a result, he had... problems in that department. He had sought medical treatment for years, but nothing had worked.

When Hua Yusen told his parents, Mr. Hua and Mrs. Hua were beyond shocked. It only made them more desperate to find their son a good wife.

And so, before Hua Yusen had even fully recovered, his parents arranged a match for him with the daughter of another prominent family.

It was a political marriage, beneficial to both families. Hua Yusen couldn’t refuse, and neither could Wu Qiaoqiao. They married according to their families’ wishes, but were unable to have a child...

Then one day, when a friend congratulated him on becoming a father, Hua Yusen knew he had been cuckolded. But he was in no position to blame Wu Qiaoqiao.

That day, Hua Yusen went out to get drunk by himself for the first time.

That night, he wandered alone, drinking straight from the bottle. As he turned into an alley, someone suddenly threw their arms around him. He looked down and saw it was a woman.

"Please, help me!" the woman trembled. Then, she backed against the wall, pulling Hua Yusen toward her and holding on tight.

His tall frame shielded her, his baggy clothes completely concealing her body.

Just as Hua Yusen came to his senses and was about to push the woman away, he heard people running from the other end of the alley, shouting, "Chase her... She can’t have gotten far... After her...!"

The footsteps grew closer. Just as Hua Yusen was about to look up, he heard two men stop not far from him. One of them said, "Hey, brother, you see a woman run past here?"

Hua Yusen was about to say yes, but then he felt the woman in his arms trembling, so utterly helpless. In a rare moment of compassion, his heart softened. He looked up, narrowed his eyes, and said coldly, "Get lost. Can’t you see you’re interrupting my fun?"

The two men froze. One of them, holding a steel pipe, looked ready to charge at Hua Yusen but was stopped by his companion. "She can’t be far. Let’s keep looking!"

After the two men had run off, Hua Yusen released the woman in his arms, only to be slapped across the face by her. "Bastard! All men are pigs!"

As the woman lifted her face, Hua Yusen saw her face clearly. It was the same woman from the crematorium, the one who had been crying her heart out.

Just as Hua Yusen was about to ask her why she had slapped him, he felt a strange heat course through him. He was... reacting like a normal man.

’No wonder she slapped me. My body’s reaction must have offended her.’

But before Hua Yusen could fully process what was happening, the woman had already run off.

Their second meeting was also just a fleeting moment.

One was drunk, the other furious.

The man lost his composure; the woman delivered a slap.

「Third Meeting.」

Wu Qiaoqiao didn’t ask for a divorce, and neither did Hua Yusen.

Neither of their families would allow it.

However, they both knew their marriage was over, so they started living separately. After the child turned eighteen, Hua Yusen and Wu Qiaoqiao divorced.

During this time, Hua Yusen threw himself into his work, achieving remarkable success and rising through the ranks. But he alone knew the pain he carried inside. Only in the dead of night would he recall the panicked woman who had run away—the woman who had stirred something within him.

He wanted to investigate her, but he didn’t dare.

He was afraid that if he did, he would stop at nothing to possess her. The Hua family had already been through so much, and his aging parents couldn’t withstand another blow. So he suppressed his deepest desires.

When he finally had enough power to control his own fate, he at last got a divorce, breaking free from his cage.

Once he was a free man again, he finally mustered the courage to investigate the woman from all those years ago. He had to know: was she doing okay?

But when a thick file was placed in front of him, Hua Yusen fell silent. So, during all those years he had been suffering, this was the life she had been living!

Passed between different men, a gift and a pawn in the Zhao Family’s endless transactions and schemes. A woman like that should have been considered dirty, but Hua Yusen could never forget Zhao Nuanyue’s bright eyes from their two encounters.

And so, he began to deliberately pay attention to her, to get closer to her.

He also uncovered subtle clues suggesting that behind her promiscuous facade, she was secretly plotting and carrying out her own revenge.
