They had met and weathered many storms to get to this point. Now, they were finally married—a husband and wife who would stay together for the rest of their lives, forever.
Hua Yusen’s face flushed hot. Despite the cold day, sweat beaded on his forehead, and he began taking deep breaths.
Zhao Nuanyue came in after washing up. Seeing Hua Yusen’s red face and how he was sweating, she quickly asked, “Yu Sen, are you coming down with a cold?”
“N-no!” Hua Yusen, who had been engrossed in a small booklet, hadn’t noticed Zhao Nuanyue enter. He hastily hid it away.
‘I’m a grown man, proud and true. I can’t let Zhao Nuanyue see this, or I’ll lose all my dignity.’
Seeing Hua Yusen’s frantic movements, Zhao Nuanyue asked suspiciously, “Yu Sen, what were you looking at?”
“Nothing!” Hua Yusen staunchly denied it. It would be too embarrassing.
Zhao Nuanyue assumed Hua Yusen was busy with work and couldn’t tell her about it, so she didn’t press the matter. She simply lifted the covers and slipped into bed.
Hua Yusen was right beside her, his body radiating heat like a furnace. He was incredibly warm.
“Let’s turn off the light,” Zhao Nuanyue said, reaching over to switch off the lamp. The room fell into darkness.
Hua Yusen closed his eyes. ‘This is the happiest day of my life. To protect this happiness, I’ll work hard, be good to our family, and be a good father to our future children.’
After a while, he finally calmed down. Hua Yusen got up, threw on his thick cotton pajamas, and went to the bathroom to quickly wash up before returning to bed in high spirits.
Hua Yusen gently scooted closer to Zhao Nuanyue and brushed his lips against her forehead. “I’m so lucky to have married you, Nuanyue,” he whispered. “You’re so wonderful. Marrying you is the luckiest thing that will ever happen to me.”
‘Of course, I can’t tell him that in my past life, I played games with men, hoping one of them could help me get revenge on my despicable, shameless stepfather. I value this hard-won happiness more than anyone else, and I will protect this precious joy with all my strength, even with my very life.’
“Me too. I’ve never been this happy before,” Zhao Nuanyue said, her voice filled with longing for their future life. “From now on, we’ll build this family together. We’ll have children—maybe more than one—so we must always stay close. We’ll raise our kids, be good to our parents and elders, build our own careers, and set a good example for them.”
‘This was the life she had imagined countless times. After going through so much hardship, it was finally real.’
“Okay,” Hua Yusen said softly. “Whatever storms come our way, we’ll face them together.” This was his vow, one he would hold in his heart and honor for the rest of his life.
“Mmm, with you by my side, I’m not afraid of anything. We’ll weather every storm together and keep moving forward,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a happy smile, resting her head on Hua Yusen’s arm. “Let’s get some sleep. I’m tired!”
“Alright.” Hua Yusen cupped Zhao Nuanyue’s face, then closed his eyes as well. His work was exhausting and kept him constantly on edge. Only when he was home could he truly relax.
Hua Yusen was so filled with joy that he even smiled in his sleep. It was all because the woman he loved was by his side, and she loved him just as deeply. They were truly in love, destined to be together forever.
In the future, they would have children and build a big family. They would have friends and relatives by their side, successful careers, and a happy, peaceful home. This was his lifelong wish, and, of course, it was Zhao Nuanyue’s wish as well.
