Chapter 1472 - 845: Professional Wall-Climber One “Dad” Stuns the Future Father-in-Law (Part 2)

Chapter 1472: Chapter 845: Professional Wall-Climber, One “Dad” Stuns the Future Father-in-Law (Part 2)

Over at Jiang Mansion

Tonight, over at the Hospital, Lin Luyou’s parents were doing the night shift. Jiang Shiyi had wanted to stay there, but was forcibly sent home by Lin’s mom.

After all these days, Lin’s parents had grown to think better and better of him.

Jiang Shiyi was thoughtful and meticulous in everything he did, not missing a single detail, and with a bit of a cleanliness obsession. He even disinfected and cleaned the bathroom in the hospital room every day, and he took especially good care of Lin Luyou.

Some people might put on an act for a while just to please their future in-laws, but staying in the hospital to keep watch over a patient is boring, tedious, and extremely fussy work to begin with.

It might not be entirely accurate to use "no filial son at a long-suffering bedside" to describe their relationship, but it’s enough to show that taking care of a patient isn’t easy.

Yet Jiang Shiyi did it very well; there were things that even they, as her parents, might not have thought through as thoroughly as he did.

During the period when Lin Luyou was hospitalized, quite a few of the Lin Family’s relatives and friends came to visit. It was only then that they learned about his relationship with Lin Luyou. At first they were all a bit reserved, but Jiang Shiyi was able to quickly get along with them.

Relatives and friends kept talking in Lin’s parents’ ears, saying Lin Luyou was really blessed.

What parents don’t wish for their daughter to marry happily? After hearing it again and again, their impression of Jiang Shiyi improved a lot, and now they basically took turns doing the night shift.

Jiang Jinsang roughly went over what happened at dinner today with Jiang Shiyi; the two of them were on the same wavelength—this Yang Yiyi was definitely not simple.

"Just one meal, and you only talked about that much?" Jiang Shiyi raised his eyebrows.

"There was more, but the rest was just her and Fourth Brother’s pointless small talk."

"Tell me about it."

Jiang Jinsang picked out some highlights, and Jiang Shiyi felt a bit of a headache coming on. "Good thing I had you go along. Where is he?"

"With Zeyan. By this time he should’ve been home already, logically speaking."

Back in the day, Qi Zeyan often went out carousing with him. Ever since he got into a relationship and started preparing for marriage, unless there was some necessary social engagement, he practically always went home early to keep his wife company. Where would he find the time to mess around with him now?

"Why don’t we give him a call and ask?"

"Let’s wait a bit. I’ll go take a shower first." Jiang Shiyi said, and went back to his room.

**

There was no way those two could have guessed that at this moment, Jiang Chengsi was climbing over the wall outside the Si Family residence.

On a normal day, the Si Family’s people would just pretend not to see—this wasn’t his first time, after all—but today was different. His steps were even a little unsteady.

He lifted his foot to push off the wall, and as soon as he climbed up, his balance wobbled and he nearly fell.

The people watching from the surveillance room in the Si Family were scared out of their wits. Their wall had been repaired last year; it wasn’t exactly low. If he fell from that height and hit a rock or something, that would really be a major incident.

"Fourth Master seems to have been drinking."

"Not ’seems’—he definitely has. So what do we do now?"

"Inform Miss, but don’t alarm Sir."

...

The Si Family’s people had already covered for him once; they naturally didn’t dare report directly to Si Yushan.

If they got found out and someone dug up his first time climbing the wall, they’d all be in trouble.

It’s just that some things really do happen precisely because you’re afraid of them.

One of them had just come out of the surveillance room, about to go inform Si Qingxiao—her room was on the second floor—when he ran smack into Si Yushan, who was coming downstairs in loungewear.

He was holding a transparent insulated cup in his hand; clearly, he was coming down to make tea and get some water.

"So late, what’s up?" It was already past ten at night. Si Yushan had been busy with work; at this hour, they were not supposed to be upstairs.

The Si Family’s servant had been planning to avoid Si Yushan, but he hadn’t expected to run right into him.

Faced with him, he didn’t know how to make something up. He hesitated for two seconds, and Si Yushan sensed that something was off. "If you have something to say, say it. Don’t stammer. Who were you going upstairs to find?"

If he said he was looking for Si Qingxiao, disturbing her this late at night, then it had to be something big. But if he said he was looking for Si Yushan or You Yunzhi, there was no excuse he could use.

Si Yushan just smiled, gestured with his cup for him to follow downstairs, pinched a bit of tea into the cup, and poured in boiling water.

The water in the cup was scalding hot. He set the cup on the table and just stared at the man in front of him without saying a word.

In the end, the other man was the first to cave. "Sir..."

"You were going to find Miss, right? Go on, what’s the matter?"

"Fourth Master is here."

"So what if he’s here?" Si Yushan snorted. "Is he at the gate? Just let him in. Or does he think it’s too late and doesn’t want to come in, so he asked you to call Xiaoxiao down?"

Their relationship was a well-known romance. Since Si Yushan had taken the initiative to let Si Qingxiao go to Nanjiang, he clearly wasn’t that rigid.

"It’s none of that." The servant lowered his voice.

"Then what’s the situation?"

The servant found it hard to speak...

He couldn’t exactly say that their future son-in-law was currently climbing the wall, could he.

Si Yushan frowned. He thought something had happened to Jiang Chengsi, but seeing that no one could explain it clearly, he simply went out to check.

And that one look scared the hell out of him!

A certain drunk was currently fighting their courtyard wall. He’d clearly had too much to drink and couldn’t climb up at all. In a fit of anger he kicked the wall twice, then, maybe from exhaustion, actually squatted by the wall to catch his breath, gearing up for round two.

How particular is Si Yushan as a person? Don’t say climbing walls, he’s gone his whole life without even touching the top of one.

Suddenly running into such a weirdo of a future son-in-law gave him a splitting headache.

It’s not like their front gate was closed to him. Even if he wanted to stay over at the Si Family for a night, it’d be no big deal. What’s wrong with using a perfectly good door? Why the hell are you climbing walls!

Si Yushan’s mind worked fast. Seeing that they not only hadn’t stopped him but had actually gone straight to inform his daughter, he turned to the people beside him:

"Which time is this now?"

The Si Family members didn’t dare make a sound.

Si Yushan let out a soft, mocking laugh:

So clearly, this wasn’t the first time.

"Hurry up and get him inside. If he falls and breaks something in the middle of the night, who’s supposed to take the blame?" Si Yushan wasn’t primarily angry about the wall climbing; he was also worried about his health. Their courtyard wall was really not that low.

At first, Jiang Chengsi refused to cooperate. He even said:

"I got this. You guys bend over and let me step on you. I definitely can make it over."

Si Yushan was so mad he almost kicked him himself.

In the end, the Si family people had to coax and trick him into the house. Inevitably, Jiang Chengsi got some dirt on him, and with the alcohol on top of that, he looked especially pathetic.

The Si family members from the monitoring room were also dragged out to stand off to the side, not daring to breathe too loudly.

As for the one who’d been caught red-handed, the rest were full of resentment.

Did his brain get waterlogged?

Could’ve just called Miss directly, right? What the hell did you run into the house for? And now look, walked right into the line of fire.

Thinking back afterward, even that guy himself felt it was strange. He didn’t know why he just had to run inside to call someone, when clearly one phone call, one text message could’ve settled everything.

Instead he’d turned things into a mess where everyone had to suffer with him.

...

With such a commotion downstairs, of course You Yunzhi and Si Qingxiao were both startled awake.

They hurriedly changed or threw on coats and came down.

"Chengsi?" You Yunzhi had already gone to bed. "Why are you here so late? And what happened to your clothes?"

As she spoke she glanced at her husband. "You did this?"

Si Yushan was torn between laughter and tears. In his wife’s mind, was he really such a vicious father-in-law, that he’d beat the guy up?

"Why would I do anything to him? He did this to himself."

"What’s wrong with Fourth Brother?" Si Qingxiao hurried down from upstairs and was quite surprised to see Jiang Chengsi in this state.

"What could be wrong with him? Middle of the night, doesn’t go home, God knows where he went to pour booze down his throat, then comes to our place to climb the wall. I really don’t get these kids nowadays. Won’t use the front door—does he think he’s going to ascend to heaven or burrow into the earth?" Seeing him like this, Si Yushan wasn’t even angry anymore; he just found it funny.

He really had never seen anyone this outrageous.

As soon as Si Qingxiao heard he’d been climbing walls, her head started pounding.

Earlier he’d called to say he was tasting dishes and wine with Qi Zeyan to prep for the wedding banquet, that it would take a long time and he wouldn’t be coming over, so she had gone back to her room early to catch up on her dramas.

How was she supposed to know that after a few drinks, someone could still cause this much trouble.

"I’ll go find him a set of clothes first. Look how dirty he is." You Yunzhi was also amused and exasperated. "Chengsi, you’re staying at our place tonight."

"Huh?" Jiang Chengsi had been fumbling around in the dark trying to climb the wall. Suddenly exposed to bright light, his eyes didn’t adjust right away and he didn’t recognize who she was.

"He really drank too much—can’t even recognize people." Si Yushan chuckled. He walked over to Jiang Chengsi. "Do you know where you are? Do you know who I am?"

Jiang Chengsi’s head was spinning. As his eyes finally adjusted and he made out who was in front of him—

He’d had so much to drink he thought he was dreaming...

In a daze, he blurted out:

"Dad—"

What? Dad? And he called it loud and clear.

Si Qingxiao’s head instantly swelled. In private, Jiang Chengsi often said things like "our dad, our mom," just joking around. They weren’t married yet, hadn’t gotten the certificate, so calling them that to their faces would obviously be inappropriate.

Compared to her embarrassment, Si Yushan’s pupils practically exploded.

It was like he’d suffered a massive shock.

The first time he heard his daughter call him Dad, it had been sheer joy. Now, hearing this inexplicable "Dad" from Jiang Chengsi, all he felt was fright.

For no reason at all, he suddenly felt that old back injury of his start to ache faintly again.
