Chapter 1775: Under the Tree Intimacy The Proper Kiss

Chapter 1775: Under the Tree, Intimacy, The Proper Kiss

Today both Jiang Mutang and Yan Chi arrived, so the Si Family was naturally very lively. Si Yushan, however, was just dealing with his back issue, so he let a few kids in the family accompany Yan Chi around, and gestured for Jiang Mutang to come to the bedroom with him.

Si Yushan’s back is an old problem, it’s uncomfortable every time the seasons change. Medication, massage, acupuncture, and cupping don’t seem to be very effective.

"Mutang, what’s wrong with my back after all?" Si Yushan lay on the bed, lifted his shirt hem, and exposed his back for him to check.

"It’s nothing serious, I’ll massage it a bit, and you should make some time to go for a check-up at the hospital." Jiang Mutang, though not trained in massage therapy, knew some professional techniques. Si Yushan felt significantly more comfortable after Jiang Mutang pressed twice.

"Getting older means you really can’t deny it..." Si Yushan sighed.

Jiang Mutang cleared his throat, "That Mr. Xiaoyan, are you close with him?"

"I’m close with his father. I haven’t seen this kid for a long time; he’s changed a lot since he was a child."

"Does he have a girlfriend?"

Si Yushan chuckled at this, "What? You’re into gossip now?"

"It’s just that not long ago, Little San Ye announced his romance with great fanfare, so I was wondering if this Mr. Xiaoyan, as his uncle, also has someone."

"That I really don’t know, just not to be like his dad. His dad likes his mom but never confessed, just silently waited for over a decade. I truly hope he finds someone soon because his parents are getting old and can’t wait..."

Si Yushan treated it as casual talk while discussing the Yan Family matters, leaving Jiang Mutang with a worsening headache.

Meanwhile, based on Si Yushan’s request, Jiang Ruan was showing Yan Chi around their backyard. Originally, the two younger brothers were also accompanying them, but due to someone gifting them a workbook, the two boys were unwilling to stay with this uncle who had a wicked heart.

Who gives test papers and mock exams at first meetings?

"Sis, Xiaojiu and I want to play in the front yard. Would you mind staying with Uncle Yan?" The tenth child kept giving Jiang Ruan hints.

"Uncle Yan, we’re leaving now." Xiaojiu pulled his brother, and the two brothers ran off.

"Hey, you two—" Jiang Ruan was both amused and irritated; why were they running?

After the brothers left, they felt a bit guilty:

"Leaving Sis like this, is that okay?"

"I wish I could stick the test papers on that Uncle Yan’s face, he’s not much older than us, how could he give us test papers at first meeting? How wicked is that? I definitely don’t want to stay with him; why don’t you go back."

"I’m not going back."

...

The brothers eventually decided to abandon their dear sister.

They kept feeling sorry for their sister, thinking they should make it up to her later. Little did they know their departure ironically created an opportunity for the two to be alone, something Jiang Ruan was secretly wishing for.

"Why did you come over today?" Jiang Ruan didn’t know in advance that Yan Chi would come.

If she had known, she would definitely have been prepared earlier, rather than hurriedly going upstairs to change outfits.

"Yesterday you mentioned going out for dinner to see Qi Lie off, so I didn’t get to see you..." Yan Chi glanced at Jiang Ruan out of the corner of his eye. The young lady was wearing a bright red high-collared dress today, which made her skin look as white as snow, increasingly charming.

"I wanted to see you..."

"So I came to find you."

Yan Chi always spoke straightforwardly, often leaving people blushing and hearts racing.

Jiang Ruan glanced around, making sure there was no one around, before tilting her head to look at Yan Chi. The Si Family’s backyard rarely had visitors, the autumn wind scattered leaves, and autumn light filtered through the gaps in the mottled tree branches, the scattered light and shadows softened Yan Chi’s typically rugged and handsome profile.

He smiled while looking down at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Yan Chi didn’t say anything either, and the autumn light stretched between them like everything was veiled in a layer of tenderness. Jiang Ruan looked around to confirm they were indeed alone, then tiptoed closer and gave him a gentle peck on the lips.

Lightly.

Quickly and swiftly.

"Mwah—" The sound made her blush, her heart felt aflame.

"Um... let’s go back." After all, it was her family’s place, Jiang Ruan felt a bit scared. Initiating a kiss took quite the emotional courage, exhausting all her vigor.

Just as she turned to leave, Yan Chi suddenly grabbed her wrist...

Without any warning.

With one pull, she was pressed against a tree trunk on the side. This trunk was no thicker than a bowl, and several leaves rustled as they fell with the impact.

Gently falling on the ground, yet stirred ripples in Jiang Ruan’s heart.
