Chapter 150 - 144: Three Years in a Flash All-Round Progress

Chapter 150: Chapter 144: Three Years in a Flash, All-Round Progress

As the waist-high Puppet placed the teacup on the stone table, Lin Changheng noticed a line of small characters carved into its wrist: "Mingyi Thirteen."

’What does that mean?’

While Lin Changheng was pondering this, the teacup made contact with the stone table. The yellow light in the Puppet’s eyes flickered, and it retreated to the side, standing as still as a statue.

"How interesting."

Lin Changheng looked it over several times, his expression intrigued.

Just then, the graceful young woman approached with a platter of dried and candied Spirit Fruits. "Alchemist Lin, please try some. I made them myself."

"Alright."

Lin Changheng reached out, took a piece without hesitation, and popped it into his mouth.

The graceful young woman watched him and smiled faintly. She found this Alchemist Lin much more agreeable now.

A while ago, a Talisman Master had come to visit her grandfather. She had served him homemade snacks as well, but the man had refused with a strained smile. His words were polite, but he wouldn’t touch a single piece, acting as if she had put Poison in them.

It had infuriated her so much that she complained to her grandfather about it for two or three days, to the point that he too grew to dislike the man.

But this Alchemist Lin was completely different. He seemed open and straightforward. A gracious guest, he accepted her hospitality without any suspicion or hesitation, clearly showing his complete trust in her and her grandfather.

’A person like that,’ she thought, ’is someone worth knowing. He can’t be a bad person.’

Lin Changheng, still examining the Puppet, had no idea about the young woman’s intricate thoughts.

If he had, he would only have thought it a happy accident.

He was more cautious than anyone, but since he possessed the Poison Transformation Demon Technique, he no longer paid any mind to ordinary toxins and Poisons.

Besides, his body could sense such things.

Furthermore, Tier Two Poison wasn’t easy to come by, and they bore each other no ill will...

All these factors combined to create the very scene the graceful young woman had hoped for and ultimately witnessed.

"Alchemist Lin, you seem very interested in the little gadget I refined?" the graceful young woman asked with a smile, her large eyes twinkling as she saw his expression.

"Hm?"

Hearing this, Lin Changheng turned his head in surprise. "You refined this exquisite Puppet, miss?"

"You flatter me, Alchemist Lin. It’s not that exquisite, and still a far cry from my grandfather’s work."

The graceful young woman shook her head.

Lin Changheng ignored her modest words and focused on the key point. ’So this was truly refined by a girl of sixteen or seventeen.’

’In that case, her Talent for the Puppet Dao is astonishing. Her family’s Puppet Dao must be quite powerful, perhaps even profound. Otherwise, how could they have trained her to this level?’

"The younger generation is truly formidable," Lin Changheng remarked with a sigh.

"Why do you sound like such an old man, Alchemist Lin? You don’t look much older than me."

The graceful young woman refuted, wrinkling her cute nose.

"You may not be aware, miss, but I am already over fifty. I’ve just maintained myself well, and I’ve also taken a Solid Face Pill. That’s why I look this way."

Lin Changheng said with a gentle smile, revealing half the truth.

The other half was due to the Longevit Talent he had seized from the Lantern Grass Essence, and the increase in his Lifespan from the True Intent of the Rongsheng Divine Abilities born of his Metamorphosis.

Naturally, not a word of this could be revealed.

"Ah?"

The graceful young woman gasped, covering her small mouth with a look of utter disbelief.

"Hehe, silly girl. You heard last time that Alchemist Lin is an Upper Grade Alchemist. How could he possibly be in his early twenties? You couldn’t find one of those in the entire Floating Immortal City, and I imagine they are exceedingly rare even in the Extreme South Palace."

Accompanied by a light chuckle, a deep, aged voice drifted from the house. While the words were a correction, the tone was laced with affection.

"Grandpa, I just wasn’t thinking!"

The graceful young woman bit her upper lip, having just realized her mistake, but she still pouted.

Lin Changheng immediately turned to look toward the house and saw an elderly, white-haired man walking out. He wore plain black clothes and was slightly stooped.

"Greetings, Puppet Master Yan."

Lin Changheng immediately stood and cupped his hands in greeting.

"There’s no need for such courtesy, Alchemist Lin. Please, sit."

Puppet Master Yan nodded with a chuckle, a smile spreading across his gaunt face as he gestured for Lin Changheng to sit.

He also sat down at the stone table and studied Lin Changheng for a moment before sighing. "But you truly are young, Alchemist Lin. I am not much more than ten years your senior, yet I look like I have one foot in the grave. The difference is vast indeed."

"Grandpa, don’t say such depressing things."

The graceful young woman was immediately displeased to hear him say he had "one foot in the grave."

"Alright, alright. I won’t say it, I won’t say it."

Puppet Master Yan was completely wrapped around his granddaughter’s finger, so he readily admitted his mistake.

He then glanced at a smiling Lin Changheng and shook his head, as if to say he was helpless when it came to his granddaughter.

"This kind of domestic bliss is a blessing in itself. It’s a way of life that I, being all alone, cannot experience," Lin Changheng, however, offered a different perspective.

"You have a point, Alchemist Lin. Haha."

Puppet Master Yan considered this, agreed, and then burst into hearty laughter. Then he asked, "Have you eaten lunch yet, Alchemist Lin? Why not join us?"

Lin Changheng thought for a moment before nodding. "In that case, I will impose."

He could tell Puppet Master Yan’s invitation was sincere, not just a polite gesture. Since the purpose of his visit was to build connections, he saw no reason to refuse an opportunity to improve their rapport, so he agreed.

"Excellent!"

Puppet Master Yan stroked his beard and smiled. He then turned to his granddaughter. "Mingyi, go prepare a few small dishes and some Spirit Wine. Your grandfather and Alchemist Lin will have a few cups."

"Alright, I’ll go right now. Please make yourself comfortable, Alchemist Lin."
