Resurrection Empire

Chapter 1633 - 622: Demon

Chapter 1633: Chapter 622: Demon

"Indeed, the Sublimators are quite a perverse race. These Rongxu 331 individuals clearly have insects as their biological base, but they’ve been grafted with human genetic fragments, granting them a certain degree of humanoid intelligence. However, their lifespan is very short, their intelligence level is extremely low, and their method of communication is merely primitive pheromone transmission, without having developed their own language and culture."

Yang Misi pointed at the "giant cockroach" that was bound to the lab bench, measuring a length of 1.3 meters, and introduced it to Ren Zhong.

Clearly, Yang Misi was very intrigued by the Rongxu 331 individuals.

Biology wasn’t his specialty, yet he was quite interested in the Sublimators’ process of transforming the Rongxu 331 individuals.

In the ever-changing world, Yang Misi, like Ren Zhong, looked down upon exhaustive methods, but didn’t mind drawing sustenance from others’ practices.

Ren Zhong also found it very surprising.

Humans are mammals, fundamentally opposite to insects, with vastly different physiological structures.

Grafting gene fragments between the two requires breaking biological barriers far more challenging than overcoming reproductive isolation between humans and chimpanzees.

God knows what methods the Sublimators used to break through the barriers.

The two approached the specimen strapped to the lab bench, Ren Zhong asked, "Do you know its name?"

Yang Misi shook his head, "No, it doesn’t have much expressive capability. It just keeps repeating a strange long vocal segment with its mouthparts. I guess these syllables are likely its name, as we haven’t heard similar syllables from other samples. Others of its kind mainly repeat identical sounds, but its syllables are much longer. It’s quite special. Its mouthpart function is slightly more complex than its peers."

Ren Zhong asked again, "Can’t decode the contents of its pheromones either?"

"We can decode it, but the translation still ends up being unrecognizable mimicry, like gibberish. We can recite it, but we don’t understand the meaning."

Ren Zhong realized.

This is the helplessness one feels when facing pseudo-intelligent life without language, like humans listening to two dogs chatting, barking back and forth happily, yet humans think the two dogs are gearing up for a fight, hurriedly separating them to prevent a brawl.

Yang Misi opened another analysis report and said, "What we discussed before were mere details. Here’s the cell sample I extracted from it. Look at this double helix structure, quite wondrous. Especially the embedded segments of human neural structure, very peculiar. The double helix chain looks like it’s about to break yet doesn’t. When it performs amino acid transcription, originally it can’t synthesize a stable structure, but every time it transcribes through this region, instead of breaking, it accelerates, as if an external force beyond chemical bonds hastens this process, forcing its way through the barrier."

Ren Zhong also found it fascinating, nodding repeatedly, "Indeed, wondrous."

"Thus, I believe there must be some force behind the Rongxu 331’s genetic information that we don’t yet understand at play."

Ren Zhong asked again, "There’s no clear conclusion even on the Third Level God’s Particle depth?"

Yang Misi stroked the faint white beard on his chin, "Yes, that’s the reason for my intense interest."

The two exchanged a glance, their eyes burning with a strong desire for knowledge.

When in doubt, use the process of elimination. If the Third Level God’s Particle can’t explain the phenomena seen, it can only prove one thing: hidden within this small Rongxu 331’s body is a mysterious micro-force requiring at least a Fourth Level God’s Particle to comprehend.

After a long while, Ren Zhong and Yang Misi looked at the giant cockroach on the lab bench again, in unison saying, "It’s truly a treasure trove."

Yang Misi added, "Thank goodness the Sublimators only use exhaustive methods."

Ren Zhong added, "And thank goodness the Spirit Demon Race only deals with Telekinesis, the Pilgrims lack imagination. Even the people of the Mechanical Empire have minds restrained."

Yang Misi questioned, "What do you mean?"

Ren Zhong grinned, "I once had a body composed of atomic electron clouds, without a regular icosahedron structure."

...

That night, Yang Misi experienced a rare bout of insomnia.

...

In addition to Yang Misi’s research group, Red Blade Science Academy has several other laboratories in the Pegasus Star System, each responsible for different research directions.

This Pegasus Star System, although merely a "chlorophyll" piece in the vast production system of the Sublimators, does indeed contain many things never encountered by the Mechanical Empire.

For instance, those thin transparent leaf-like space organisms orbiting Pegasus Star.

Previously, when the Mechanical Empire wanted to develop stellar radiation energy, they had to construct massive Dyson Balls. Dyson Balls have very high output and are stable enough to support a powerful Earl Mansion once completed, but the downside is the colossal investment and exaggerated construction effort required, making them extremely difficult to build.

Yet, the Sublimators’ space-dwelling biological membranes are different, highly reproductive with very low construction costs. Just toss a "seed" into space and let it slowly reproduce on its own, then you don’t have to worry about it anymore.

After a few thousand years, these space organisms will naturally connect into a piece under the guidance of genetic information and become functional.

Take for example the green gel produced by Rongxu 331 individuals’ abdomen, its electron imbalance is extremely high. If applied in energy batteries, it could increase the energy storage capacity per unit volume of batteries several times.

This high-energy biological battery is similarly something the Mechanical Empire doesn’t have.

However, Ren Zhong didn’t concern himself with these minor details, sticking in Yang Misi’s project group lab, assisting Old Yang; only stepping up when necessary.

He now has eternal life, an infinite lifespan, allowing him to be a versatile brick, filling gaps wherever needed.

Helping Old Yang more naturally saves Old Yang’s lifespan.

So far, within the Red Blade Clan, there’s no academic master comparable to Yang Misi, no replacement; Old Yang’s time is even more precious than Ren Zhong’s.

Upon first learning he was immortal, Yang Misi was almost dumbfounded, feeling a bit unsettled.

This messed-up world, truly unfair to the extreme.

Giving Ren Zhong such a terrifying mind, and then eternal life along with equally exaggerated talents and combat capabilities, what is this supposed to accomplish?

Yang Misi asked, "Did past Chosen Ones all have prowess like yours? If that’s the case, why haven’t we won?"

Ren Zhong shrugged, "Would you believe me if I said I’m not a Chosen One?"

"Then what are you?"

"You won’t want to know for now. Forget about it, this hmm-wei-woo spoke again." Ren Zhong pointed at the Rongxu 331 that had been tied up for nearly a month.

Based on the syllables of its vocalization, they took the first three sounds and named it Hmm-wei-woo.

Hmm-wei-woo stared intently with compound eyes at the two mammals, its mouth parts rattling.

"Demons! You will never receive the favors of evolution, the great Mother Empress will eventually turn you into fertilizer!"

This is the actual meaning of the long string of syllables only it understands.

Of course, Ren Zhong and Yang Misi thought this was its name.
