Chapter 692: Chapter 270: A Pleasant Surprise: Giant Sea Beast (Part 3)

’I knew there was something wrong!’

As the Flying Sword penetrated deeper, the remaining Restriction collapsed on the spot.

The rock wall in front of Xiao Chen also came crashing down, revealing a hidden space within.

It was an ancient altar, three zhang high and ten zhang in both length and width.

It was constructed from massive blocks of Mutton Fat Jade, and an Array Flag hung from the very top.

However, Xiao Chen noticed that the runes on the Array Flag were in disarray.

Thanks to the *Array Dao Introduction*, he instantly recognized that this was the result of the Array being violently destroyed by an enemy, causing the Array Flag used in its formation to suffer a backlash.

It was clear that one side had made preparations in advance, hiding an Array in this secret chamber.

But their enemy was too powerful, and the Array had been destroyed outright.

"Huh?"

Xiao Chen was about to walk over for a closer look when, before he could even step into the chamber, Evil Qi began to leak out from inside.

There was already some residual Broken Blade Qi in the canyon.

However, the Evil Qi wafting out from the secret chamber was similar to the Broken Blade Fiend, yet different!

Although they both belonged to the Gold element in the Five Elements.

But for some unknown reason, the Evil Qi from the secret chamber hadn’t been assimilated by the dense Yin Qi of this burial ground.

In other words, it was yang!

Without a second thought, Xiao Chen immediately sat down cross-legged on the spot.

He fully activated the *Mystic Sky Eating Secret Technique* to gather the surrounding Yang Metal Fiend.

He strove to absorb all the Evil Qi into his body before it could escape the chamber and be tainted by the residual Broken Blade Fiend outside.

「Three days passed in a flash.」

"Argh, just a little bit more!"

Xiao Chen, who had moved into the secret chamber at some point, had absorbed all the Evil Qi inside, only to find he was just a tiny bit short of what he needed to condense the Yang Metal Seal.

After all, the space in the secret chamber was limited, and it hadn’t preserved enough Evil Qi.

He opened his eyes and quickly scanned his surroundings.

Without thinking twice, he struck the altar in front of him with his palm.

BOOM!

The altar was instantly smashed to pieces.

Fortunately, a few wisps of Evil Qi that had seeped into the Jade over the long ages were still inside.

They were released when the Jade shattered.

Thanks to this new injection of power, Xiao Chen finally gathered enough Evil Qi and successfully condensed a brand-new Yang Metal Seal in his Dantian.

The moment the Yang Metal Seal finished forming, it overlapped with the Yin Metal Seal.

Together, they formed an exceptionally profound pattern.

Similar to the previous two pairs of seals, this new pattern seemed to contain all the weapons under heaven.

It also meant that he had secured another five percent increase to his chances of successful Nascent Soul Formation.

"Hot damn, what kind of a Blessed Land is this?"

Xiao Chen finished inspecting his Dantian and opened his eyes with delight. "To think that two types of Evil Qi, a perfect pair, could exist in the same canyon."

Compared to the previous two pairs of Evil Qi, the time between collecting this pair was the shortest; he had gathered them almost back-to-back.

Before this, he had already come into contact with the other four types of elemental Evil Qi.

Only the Gold Fiends were missing—both of them. Xiao Chen had thought this would be the hardest part.

’I never would have expected to get it done just like that!’

’Ah, if only the other types of Evil Qi also came in pairs.’

Xiao Chen couldn’t help but sigh. ’Then I wouldn’t have to run all over the place.’

Unfortunately, the remaining two types of Evil Qi had different attributes, so they definitely wouldn’t appear in the same location.

’Oh well, I shouldn’t be too greedy. Today’s result is already fantastic.’

Xiao Chen stood up cheerfully and looked toward the Jade Plates that had fallen beside the altar.

In his moment of inspiration, he had shattered the Jade and, in doing so, destroyed the altar.

As a result, the five Jade Plates originally placed on top to hold offerings had also fallen and shattered to pieces.

Due to the passage of time, most of the original offerings had weathered into dust.

But on one of the Jade Plates, there was a glittering, brightly-colored Spirit Ore, which had been preserved.

’This looks unfamiliar.’

Xiao Chen picked it up and examined it from every angle, but he still couldn’t identify what kind of Spirit Ore it was.

One thing was certain, though: it was a special Spiritual Object that could be used for Array Formation, and it was immensely valuable.

Normally, if a Golden Core Cultivator managed to find an ordinary Tier Four ore, it would already be considered a fortuitous encounter.

Moreover, this Ancient Battlefield was extremely old.

In that era, the cultivation world was abundant with all sorts of Treasures of Heaven and Earth.

An item used for Array Formation back then could very well be some kind of super-rare Spiritual Object today.

’I was planning on finding an Appraiser anyway. I’ll just take this to be appraised at the same time.’

Xiao Chen put away the ore and searched the entire secret chamber once more.

Unfortunately, aside from the shattered Jade and the broken Array Flag, everything else had long since weathered away.

The same went for the canyon outside.

Even though Xiao Chen scoured the area twice, he couldn’t find a third type of Evil Qi.

’Alright, time to go.’

He followed his original path back and flew out of the abyss-like fissure.

Outside, it was high noon. A great sun hung in the sky, casting down bright, glaring sunlight.

"Sss... I haven’t seen the sun in days. This feels a little strange."

Xiao Chen subconsciously raised a hand to shield his eyes.

After spending several days in darkness, the sudden encounter with the blazing noon sun felt a bit jarring.

He slowly flew higher, scanning his surroundings to get his bearings for the return trip.

"Huh? Why are there three small islands to the West now?"

Xiao Chen blinked, confirming that his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.

Originally, to the west of this island, roughly where the sea met the sky, there was a pair of small islands that served as a reference point.

Now, however, looking over, there were clearly three small black dots.
