Chapter 580: Another Gift Box

Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Another Gift Box

Master Ning looked at the piece of jadeite in front of Master Wen, a chill creeping through his heart.

This was why he didn’t dare contradict Master Wen. Even now, after faking his own death and his reputation in Xiangcheng hitting rock bottom, he wouldn’t dream of it.

He had no idea just how many secret abilities his senior brother possessed. Take this piece of jadeite, for example. He knew Master Wen used it to find people with frightening accuracy, though he had no clue how Master Wen managed to accomplish such a feat with a simple stone.

He feared that if he ever got any funny ideas, he would die a miserable death.

After composing himself, Master Ning asked, "Senior brother, are you planning to go to the mainland yourself this time?"

"Yes, I’ll make a trip," Master Wen said with a nod. "I expect I’ll head abroad directly after things on the mainland are settled. You’ll be the only one left here in Xiangcheng, so be careful with everything. If I need anything, I’ll contact you."

"Alright." Master Ning smiled pleasantly, but inwardly, he was grinding his teeth. ’This old fox, he’s about to leave Xiangcheng and he’s still thinking of ways to control me!’

「A few days later.」

Brother Liu personally came to Xiangcheng to meet with Master Wen.

"Master." Brother Liu’s attitude was very respectful. He didn’t know the surname of the man before him, who looked to be in his sixties, but since he was a Feng Shui Master—and one recommended by Master Ning, no less—he didn’t dare show the slightest disrespect.

"Yes, I have a general idea of your situation," Master Wen replied coolly, looking at Brother Liu. "The person you want to deal with is named Su Qing?"

"Yes," Brother Liu replied, nodding quickly. "Master, this woman has a powerful family background, so I don’t dare touch her through ordinary means. But there is a deep and irreconcilable hatred between us. That’s why I’ve come to you, Master, hoping you can help me."

Master Wen didn’t answer him, asking another question instead. "The box I had your men take back with them—are you certain it was delivered to Su Qing?"

"Yes, you can rest assured, Master. My men strictly followed your instructions. The box wasn’t opened; it was delivered exactly as it was, untouched," Brother Liu said hurriedly.

Master Wen nodded without a word.

Brother Liu shot a furtive glance at Master Wen, then thought for a moment before asking quietly, "Master, about your fee... what should it be?"

Hearing this, Master Wen raised an eyebrow at Brother Liu. "How much can you afford?"

Brother Liu forced a smile. "To be honest with you, Master, I did some research on the going rates before coming here. Of course, as you know, people from the mainland aren’t as wealthy as the people in Xiangcheng. I do some business back home and my income is decent, but I can’t compare to the tycoons here. That said, as long as it’s within my means, I won’t haggle. I hope you can understand."

Master Wen smiled faintly. He wasn’t short on cash in the slightest. The money and properties he had in Xiangcheng were now inaccessible because he had faked his death, but they were just a drop in the bucket compared to his total wealth. The majority of his fortune was overseas—more than enough to fund a life of luxury and leisure.

He knew people from the mainland weren’t as rich as those in Xiangcheng, but he wasn’t running a charity. After a moment’s thought, he said, "You’ve come a long way to find me, so I can see your sincerity. As for the fee... I know it’s not easy for you mainlanders to make money. How about this: I’ll only charge you five million. But..."

Master Ning, who had been sitting silently to the side, shot Master Wen a surprised look. ’Wow, only five million? His senior brother’s lowest fee used to be fifteen million. He’s being surprisingly generous today!’

Brother Liu quickly smiled at Master Wen. "Master, whatever your conditions are, just say the word."

Master Wen gave a faint smile. "I have no problem taking action. But, aside from my fee, you’ll have to get your hands dirty as well. And as for the aftermath, that’s for you to handle."

"Master, what do you mean?" Brother Liu didn’t quite understand. ’I’m already paying him, what else does he need me to do?’

"You yourself said that this Su Qing has a powerful background," Master Wen said, beckoning Brother Liu closer. "Lean in."

Though puzzled, Brother Liu quickly stepped forward and leaned in close to Master Wen.

Master Wen whispered a few instructions in Brother Liu’s ear. Not only could Brother Liu’s men not hear, but even Master Ning couldn’t make out a single word.

Brother Liu’s expression was strange, but he agreed without hesitation. "Master, rest assured. What you’ve asked is no problem at all for me."

Master Wen smiled. "Good."

Master Ning, standing to the side, frowned slightly. He glanced from Master Wen to Brother Liu, and for some reason, a strange feeling stirred within him. ’Somehow, I don’t think this is going to be so simple,’ he thought.

But Master Ning kept his thoughts to himself. ’In any case, my senior brother will be leaving Xiangcheng after this is over. As long as I’m not dragged into it, it’s fine.’

"Su Qing, any news from the police? Who was it that sent you the jadeite? Was it a student from our school?"

The dorm mates from Room 206 had been endlessly curious about the origin of the jadeite. Seeing as there had been no news for days, Chen Meizhen couldn’t resist asking.

Hearing Chen Meizhen’s question, the other girls all stared at Su Qing, their eyes burning with curiosity.

Seeing their expressions, Su Qing couldn’t help but laugh. "Nope. The police haven’t contacted me, and I haven’t asked them."

"Huh? Su Qing, you’re not curious at all?" Ye Qingqing asked quickly. "We’re dying to know!"

Su Qing smiled and poured herself a glass of water. "What’s there to be curious about? The owner of that jadeite has nothing to do with me, and I have no intention of keeping it. Once the police find out who it belongs to, I assume they’ll just return it."

"Wow, Su Qing, how can you be so calm about this? Aren’t you even a little bit curious?" Ye Qingqing sighed.

Su Qing shook her head and was about to speak when a knock came at the door. "Su Qing? Is Su Qing in?"

Su Qing went and opened the door. The girl standing there saw her and smiled. "Su Qing, something was delivered for you. It’s downstairs with the dorm manager. She asked me to tell you to go pick it up."

"Thanks," Su Qing said with a smile.

The item with the dorm manager was, once again, a gift box. When she saw Su Qing arrive, the manager smiled and handed it to her. "Someone delivered this for you. Here you go."

Looking at the box, which was similar to the last one, Su Qing asked, "Ma’am, do you know who sent this?"

"It was a boy wearing a face mask," the dorm manager said. "I didn’t get a clear look at him. He just said it was for you."

It was common for university students to be dating, so the dorm manager was used to this sort of thing. As long as boys didn’t violate the rules by entering the girls’ dorm, she would just turn a blind eye to them dropping things off.
