Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid

Chapter 565 - 449: Strong-arming

Chapter 565: Chapter 449: Strong-arming

Flora Bloom paused. "Polly’s only a Middle Level superpower user right now. What if she suddenly runs into some unknown, powerful figure?"

"Flora, I think you’ve misunderstood Captain Cross!"

"How have I misunderstood him?"

"Every time Captain Cross takes Polly out, Five, Saul Sterling, and Nolan Jennings all go along. Even the superpower users Graham Cross brought from the Ancient Universe accompany them for protection.

I think he’s been very thorough in protecting Polly. You’re just being overly anxious because you love her so much.

One time, Maeve Preston and I tagged along. The highest-level zombies he had Polly hunt were only Middle Level. And Polly? A single bolt of lightning from her was enough to fry a zombie to a crisp.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that Polly isn’t even two years old. Her lightning net can take out five or six Middle Level zombies in an instant. And each time, to make sure Polly gets her training, Captain Cross clears out all the High-level zombies in the vicinity beforehand.

And as for the evolved creatures or wild beasts you mentioned, you have even less to worry about. Compared to this little one, I’m more worried she’ll be the one to drive the evolved creatures into depression."

Cynthia Grant laughed out loud. "No kidding. Last time, there was a wild boar in Orinburg—it probably escaped from Morhaven. It had somehow evolved and even developed a Gold Ability. Our little one hit it with several bolts of lightning in a row, roasting it till it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Even though the boar was seriously injured, it actually managed to get away. So she hopped on her Nightmare Beast, chased it all the way back to its lair, and even had the Nightmare Beast intimidate its young! Now, that boar’s piglets are being raised in the yard of the villa where Five and the others live!"

Flora Bloom was dumbfounded. "What? She took out the whole litter?"

The topic clearly invigorated Shelly and Cynthia Grant.

"You bet! That big boar eventually collapsed. After we brought it back, we at Villa Three were eating pork for two days straight!"

Flora Bloom looked at Polly, who was fast asleep on the Nightmare Beast’s back, still smacking her lips. ’Once that litter of piglets gets a little bigger,’ she thought, ’they won’t be able to escape this little monster’s clutches, either.’

’Looks like I need to make a trip to Five’s villa and take a pair of piglets into my space,’ she resolved. ’I can’t let this kid eat them into extinction.’

The group of three adults, one child, and one beast strolled around the base. They soon discovered that in just one month, the power dynamics within the base had changed dramatically.

The majority of the superpower users who had joined the Cross family had become arrogant and haughty.

Flora Bloom and the others arrived at the trading post on the first floor of a small shopping center. There, they witnessed two superpower users from Seth Warren’s team trying to haggle.

"Hey, vendor, these fruits of yours are all shriveled. How are they worth half a bag of rice? Tell you what, I’ll give you ten Middle Level Zombie Crystal Cores for a pound of them!"

Before the vendor could even respond, the two superpower users pulled out their own bag and began picking through the pile of small, unknown red fruits on display, stuffing them inside.

Flora Bloom could tell at a glance that they had packed way more than a pound—it looked like at least five!

The vendor grew frantic, scrambling out from behind his stall to stop them.

"Put down my fruit! I’m not selling to you!"

"Alright, alright, here’s another ten Middle Level Zombie Crystal Cores. That should be enough, right? Don’t you go accusing us of strong-arming you!"

"You scum! You’re nothing but turncoats who sided with the outsiders! This is the territory of Morhaven’s leader, not a place for spineless cowards like you to run wild!"

"What did you say?"

"Who are you calling a turncoat?! And who are you calling a spineless coward?!"

The faces of the two superpower users twisted into menacing snarls as they unleashed their energy.

"Guards! Guards! Someone’s strong-arming me! They’re stealing my fruit!"

However, of the Guard Squad that should have numbered at least ten, only two members arrived. And one of them was Quinn, the former squad leader.

"Hahaha! That’s hilarious! What a pathetic excuse for a Guard Squad! There are only two of them left. Who the hell is going to stop me now?!"

Flora Bloom frowned.

’Putting aside the fact that a small portion of the daily stall fees went into her own pocket, this kind of strong-arm tactic was a malignant trend. If it went on, it would be like an anthill collapsing a thousand-mile dike. The order in Morhaven, so painstakingly established, would be ruined by these people.’

Just as Flora Bloom started walking toward the scene, Cynthia Grant stopped her.

"Flora, you’re going to get involved in this?"

Flora Bloom looked at the expressions on Cynthia Grant and Shelly’s faces in confusion. "Why? I can’t get involved? Let me ask you, does this sort of thing happen often around the base?"

Cynthia Grant nodded. "It does. Not just here at the trading post, but also in the mission hall upstairs and even in the designated hunting zones in the woods."
