Chapter 630: Chapter 580: Return to Ice Jade Palace (Part 2)
Gu Sewei suddenly felt a little crestfallen.
Li Wei, sensing the shift in her mood, asked, "Weiwei, what’s wrong?"
Gu Sewei shook her head. "It’s nothing."
"Don’t try to fool me. I know what you’re thinking," Li Wei said, looking into her eyes.
Her ice-blue eyes had already betrayed her thoughts.
"Are you worried your strength won’t be able to keep up with me?" Li Wei asked.
Gu Sewei hesitated for a moment. Seeing that Li Wei had read her mind, she could only nod in resignation.
Li Wei smiled and pulled her into a tight hug. "You don’t have to worry about that."
"With your aptitude, becoming a Demigod is just a matter of time. Besides, I’m here. I’ll help you."
"And not just a Demigod—becoming a full god is also possible."
"I will be with you forever."
Seeing this, Gu Ze clicked his tongue. "Tsk, tsk. Alright, you two, stop with the public displays of affection in front of me."
"Now that you’re a Demigod, you should figure out a way to help Weiwei with her current problems."
Gu Ze then told Li Wei what had happened to Ice and Snow City over the past few years.
He also explained the predicament the city was currently facing.
Ice and Snow City had once been full of life, the only sanctuary in the Extreme North Icefield after the demonic scourge.
Until the Demon God descended.
Everything changed.
Li Wei looked astonished. "A Demon God has really descended upon the Prime Material World?"
Gu Sewei shook her head. "I don’t think so. At most, it was an avatar of the Demon God. The Divine Spirits of the Prime Material World would prevent a Demon God’s true form from descending."
"If a Demon God had truly descended in person, the Divine Spirits would have made their presence known long ago."
"What you see here... this was all caused by the Demon God’s followers."
According to Gu Sewei,
the one responsible for turning Ice and Snow City into a city of ice sculptures was Basam.
Commanding the Ice Emperor, Basam conquered the Extreme North Icefield.
He marched south, leaving the Extreme North Icefield and entering the Northern Wastelands.
The territory of the Beastmen.
It was there that he performed a ritual for the Demon God’s descent.
Ice and Snow City was merely caught in the fallout, which is what turned it into its current state.
Fewer than one in ten survived.
The survivors were also constantly harassed and attacked by Demonized Creatures.
As for Monice, Li Wei also learned from Gu Sewei why she had remained within the Ice Jade Palace.
Although Monice had lost consciousness, her instincts weren’t purely murderous.
Instead, she had become a guardian of the Ice Jade Palace, dedicated to protecting Gu Sewei.
Within the entire Ice Jade Palace, Gu Sewei was the only one who could approach Monice without being attacked.
So, Gu Sewei kept Monice in her own courtyard as a bodyguard.
After turning into a monster, Monice became exceptionally sensitive toward Demonized Creatures.
With her around, no Demonized Creature could infiltrate the Ice Jade Palace undetected.
She had shielded Gu Sewei from a great deal of danger over the years.
If she hadn’t earned merit, she had at least put in the effort.
But now that Li Wei had arrived, there was no need for Monice to continue acting as a guard.
He encased Monice in eternal ice, hoping that one day he might find a way to restore her to her human form.
After becoming a Demigod,
seeing the demonized Monice gave him a deeper understanding of the concept of Demonization.
Li Wei could sense faint fluctuations of a Law emanating from Monice.
This meant Demonization was an effect at the level of Law.
No wonder no one throughout history had found a way to reverse Demonization.
When something operated at the level of Law, ordinary people were powerless to reverse its effects; only a Divine Spirit could possibly intervene.
Even then, it would have to be a Divine Spirit who had mastered the relevant Law Ability.
Not all Divine Spirits had the power to reverse Demonization.
Without a doubt, the being who mastered the Law of "Demonization" was the Demon God behind the Void Demon Race.
It could be the Void Emperor, or it could be another Demon God.
Li Wei also now understood the final fate of Demonized Creatures.
From the insights gained from Sasha’s Divine Fire, he had also seen some of Sasha’s memories related to Cultivation.
Every time a world was harvested, Sasha would receive more "Faith Material" as a reward.
The final fate of Demonized Creatures was to be reduced to "Faith Material" for the gods.
Li Wei wasn’t entirely clear on the process of how they were converted into Faith Material.
Based on his insights, it was likely related to the Law Ability mastered by the Demon God.
It was just like him; he had previously mastered the Element Fusion Rules.
By extension, the next step would be the Element Fusion Law.
The Element Fusion Law is one of the fundamental Rules governing stars.
Therefore, once he became a god, stars could become his Faith Material.
He could obtain Divine Power by burning stars.
If a Demon God had mastered a corresponding Law, they could burn Demonized Creatures to create Divine Power, or convert them into the common currency among Demigods—Faith Material.
After returning to the Ice Jade Palace,
Li Wei also thought of the vanished Ice Queen and the Hundred Flowers God.
Both were Pseudo-Gods, possessing some traits of Divine Spirits—namely, the ability to gather the Power of Faith.
In the end, their fate was to be harvested by the gods as resources.
Without a doubt, in the eyes of the gods, both the Ice Queen and the Hundred Flowers God were nothing more than "Faith Material" that could be burned to produce Divine Power.
The gods had likely seeded many such beings across various worlds.
It was just like planting crops.
Ordinary humans plant crops.
The gods used entire worlds as their fields, planting Pseudo-Gods who could gather the Power of Faith.
To put it more bluntly, they were farming them like livestock.
The Hundred Flowers God and the Ice Queen were both part of this group of specially cultivated Pseudo-Gods.
Their ultimate value was to be harvested by the gods, turned into Objects of Faith, and burned in the Divine Fire to forge Divine Power.
The Hundred Flowers God had once told Li Wei that she would disappear.
’Presumably, she must have already known the reason for her existence and her eventual fate back then.’
’Sometimes, knowing too much is its own kind of misfortune.’
The Ice Queen had only learned of her own fate at the very last moment.
Before that, she had merely felt an instinctive fear of the gods and was reluctant to make contact with them.
Li Wei spent an intimate night with Gu Sewei in the Ice Jade Palace.
The next day, before the sky had brightened, the sounds of battle erupted from the military camp halfway up the mountain.
Gu Ze hastily grabbed a Mage Robe, pulling it on as he ran, and led his men down the mountain to provide support.
Li Wei slowly opened his eyes, his gaze penetrating the walls and the darkness to see the scene at the foot of the mountain.
Gu Sewei, lying beside him, had already been startled awake.
She started to get up.
Li Wei placed a hand on her shoulder. "You stay here and sleep. I’ll be right back."
After looking into his eyes for a moment, Gu Sewei nodded and lay back down, reassured.
Li Wei got up and walked out the door.
The moment he stepped outside, he teleported directly into the military camp halfway down the mountain.
He consumed a bit of Divine Power and unleashed his Holy Flame Domain.
The Domain enveloped the entire snowy mountain.
All enemies within the Holy Flame Domain spontaneously combusted and died.
The survivors in the camp were left staring at the piles of black ash before them, their faces etched with disbelief, clueless as to what had just occurred.
Gu Ze had just reached the camp entrance when he realized the sounds of battle inside had vanished.
His heart sank. ’Could everyone be dead?’
The next moment, he saw Li Wei walking out of the camp.
"Go back, Teacher Gu Ze. The enemies have all been dealt with," Li Wei said.
Gu Ze looked astonished.
"So quickly?"
’Is this the power of a Demigod?’
Gu Ze was utterly shocked.
’He hadn’t even seen Li Wei make a move, and all the enemies were already dead?’
Although Gu Ze believed Li Wei, he was still worried about the others in the camp.
Only after entering the camp did he learn that all the Demonized Creatures had spontaneously burst into flames in a single instant, turning into piles of black ash.
Gu Ze was astounded, finding it hard to imagine the scene.
By the time he returned to the camp entrance,
he found that Li Wei had already left.
Gu Sewei saw Li Wei return only a few minutes after he’d left.
She couldn’t help but sit up and ask, "What happened?"
Li Wei smiled. "It’s all taken care of. There shouldn’t be any more attacks from Demonized Creatures tonight. You can get a good night’s sleep."
The Domain he had just unleashed had covered the entire snowy mountain, killing every Demonized Creature within a radius of several thousand meters.
Gu Sewei was also astonished to hear that Li Wei had dealt with all the enemies in just a few short minutes.
But she didn’t overthink it, assuming all the enemies had been gathered in one place, allowing Li Wei to annihilate them with a single move.
She lifted the covers, her face blushing as she called out, "Hurry and get in. It’s cold outside."
