Chapter 466: Chapter 231: Cooperation, C Level Task, Part 2
Most cities offered this sort of encouraging bonus for killing Goblins.
Additionally, Lin Mo noticed that Fajade City’s rewards for killing low-Level Goblins weren’t particularly high. If he recalled correctly, back when he had just arrived in this world, the bounty for a Goblin in Roland Town was 1 Silver Coin after the rewards were increased.
Fajade City’s 1.5 Silver Coins was certainly more, but Roland Town was just a small town in a remote region. For Fajade City, one of the Doria Kingdom’s four major cities, to only offer 0.5 Silver Coins more was rather meager.
In later quests and wartime Call-up Orders in Roland Town and Silver Stream City, an Ordinary Goblin was worth far more than 1.5 Silver Coins.
But for higher-Level tiers, such as Bronze Level and Giant Goblins, the rewards were on par with or even exceeded those of the Call-up Orders in Silver Stream City.
This was actually a very sound strategy. Fajade City had a large Adventurer population—it could even be said to have the most Adventurers in the entire Doria Kingdom. The city had no shortage of ordinary Adventurers, so if the bounty for Ordinary Goblins was too high, it would strain the city’s finances. High-Level Goblins were a different story. Even with a higher bounty, not many Adventurers could kill them, and their numbers were far smaller than Ordinary Goblins. Offering a slightly higher reward to eliminate a potential threat was a no-lose proposition.
Moreover, this strategy also helped attract more High-Level Adventurers.
There was a reason so many powerful Adventurers favored Fajade City.
At the counter, the staff quickly packed Lin Mo’s bounty into an oversized bag, which several of them then carried over together.
The Adventurer’s Association’s reputation was trustworthy, so Lin Mo didn’t bother with a detailed count. He gave it a quick glance before storing the large bag in his Ring of Space.
Lin Mo had previously stored some items he brought from Silver Stream City at the inn, so his Ring of Space had plenty of room. Stowing the large moneybag was no problem.
Next, it was time to divide the profits from this mission.
Lin Mo took a seat in the Association’s main hall and ordered a few glasses of fruit wine.
"How does everyone think we should split the reward for this mission?" he asked, looking at the others.
Feney blinked, looking as though she wanted to speak but was hesitating.
"Feney, what do you think? How should we split it?"
Lin Mo could tell she had something on her mind, so he prompted her.
"Well..."
Feney pressed her lips together and finally spoke her mind. "I think that with how far our team has come, and since we’ve known each other for a long time and are all familiar with one another, it’s time to change our distribution method. We should switch to a collective system."
Simply put, most of the mission rewards would become a collective fund to be allocated as needed.
It was just like the system Bain’s team had used.
"I agree, too."
Ali raised her hand in agreement.
Shefilya remained silent, offering no opinion.
Lin Mo nodded. He’d actually had the same thought. They weren’t some temporary team. In fact, their bond was even more unique than that of most long-term parties. It was highly unlikely there would be any changes in personnel, and conflicts over money were improbable.
A collective team fund was clearly a better fit for them.
"Alright then. Of the 5,381 Gold Coins from this mission, how about we put 4,000 Gold Coins into the team’s operating fund and distribute the remaining 1,381?"
Feney and Ali both nodded in agreement.
Lin Mo discussed it with them a little more. In the end, he took 781 Gold Coins, while Ali and Feney each received 300 Gold Coins.
As for Shefilya, Lin Mo wanted to give her a wage, but the young Maid clearly wouldn’t accept it.
Back when they didn’t know each other well, he had to insist she take it, but that was no longer necessary.
Even if she did accept it, Shefilya would just hand it over to Feney anyway.
Besides, the team covered her room and board. If she needed anything, they could use the team funds to pay for it.
Now that the mission was done and the reward collected, it was time for them, as Adventurers, to convert that bounty into Combat Power.
But money had to be spent where it mattered most. Lin Mo gave it some serious thought, and after a group discussion, they decided on a few key areas for investment.
None of them—Lin Mo, Ali, Feney, or even Shefilya—were lacking when it came to weapons.
In terms of defensive gear, however, there were gaps. While Lin Mo’s Frost Cold Robe was fine, the Leather Armor he wore underneath was purchased a long time ago. It was long overdue for an upgrade, and now was the time to replace it.
Ali’s Armor also needed to be replaced with something better.
Feney, on the other hand, could use a better pair of boots, preferably something that would increase her mobility. After all, as a Priest, her Agility Attribute was still too low.
Finally, there was Shefilya. She didn’t need any new equipment, but her daggers all needed proper maintenance, which would also be a considerable expense.
Beyond that, Lin Mo also planned to purchase a few Skill Scrolls.
Specifically, for the Ranger and Priest Professions.
Both of those Professions were level-capped due to a lack of skills, and he needed to find a way to resolve that.
While Skill Scrolls for the Priest Profession were extremely rare, he should still be able to find some for sale in a major city like Fajade City.
With their plan set, it was time to head back to the inn.
It was too late in the day; the shops had likely already closed. In any case, they weren’t taking a mission tomorrow, so they could take their time and browse the city then.
They had only ordered some light snacks at the Association, so they still needed to have dinner.
Fortunately, there was no shortage of restaurants near the Qingfeng Inn, many of which were quite upscale.
Without dipping into the team funds, Lin Mo treated everyone to a nice meal. The restaurant didn’t have any expensive dishes featuring high-grade Magic Beast Meat, so it wasn’t too costly—3 Gold Coins covered it.
Of course, they didn’t forget to bring along Lena, who was waiting for them at the inn.
During the meal, Lena brought something up with Lin Mo.
She hadn’t gone back to work at the Adventurer’s Association since arriving, but Lena hadn’t been idle. For the past two days, she’d been cramming the knowledge required to be an Adventurer’s Assistant while also making inquiries around the city.
A major city like Fajade City had many people in life-skill Professions, such as Planting Master.
As a result, compared to Silver Stream City, it had a much more developed support market... including the option to lease private gardens.
However, due to high land prices, most of these gardens were located in the more remote parts of the city. Lena had searched for a long time before finding a suitable spot.
She was thinking of renting a plot to conduct her planting research.
She had already inquired about the rent: 4 Gold Coins per month, with a three-month minimum lease.
It was a rather steep price, but the plot was spacious and came with a complete set of facilities.
"That’s wonderful! I think you’re making rapid progress, Lena. Back in Silver Stream City, you were already earning a good amount of money..."
Ali was, of course, quick to praise her good friend.
"Absolutely. If you want to rent it, you can. We all support you," Lin Mo added, patting her on the head.
"Okay! I’ll go negotiate the lease tomorrow!"
Lena was greatly encouraged. She clenched her fists, looking full of determination.
Ali, however, suddenly felt a pang of regret. ’If this keeps up,’ she thought, ’when will my friend’s love life ever get off the ground?’
However, the matter was already settled. Plus, after her recent blunder had put her teammates in a tough spot, she didn’t feel she could say anything more.
Back at the inn, everyone returned to their rooms to wash up and rest.
After his shower, Lin Mo lay in bed and picked up a book from the nightstand, flipping through it idly.
He couldn’t focus on it, though. After a few pages, he set it down.
Soon, the "doorbell" by his door was pressed, and a chime sounded in the room.
Lin Mo got out of bed and went to open it.
’Who could it be tonight?’
