Chapter 475: Chapter 234: This Is Supposed to Be Level 8?
"Feney... Level 3 Priest."
While her level was a bit low, Priests were a different story. A Priest who could heal and offer support was a treasure to be carefully protected in any party.
"Shefilya, Level 9 Assassin."
Shefilya’s cold voice rang out. As Feney’s half-sister, her talent was certainly no worse than Feney’s. Reaching Level 9 at her age was already quite impressive.
Finally, it was Lin Mo’s turn.
All eyes turned to him expectantly. They had all heard that Lin Mo had once fought their leader to a near standstill, but none had witnessed it firsthand, so they were extremely curious about how strong Lin Mo truly was.
"Lin Mo, Level 8 Warrior."
After he spoke, Lin Mo noticed everyone was giving him a strange look.
Level 8?
The most shocked, however, was Deke, who had witnessed that duel firsthand.
He’d witnessed Lin Mo’s performance in that fight. That strength, that speed... he knew he couldn’t match it himself.
’And he’s saying he’s Level 8? How the fuck is that Level 8?!’
Lin Mo caught on. He cleared his throat and added, "And a Level 10 Mage."
The others finally looked as if they understood, though their eyes were still filled with amazement.
After all, to be able to dual-class and have both Professions reach such high levels was beyond their comprehension.
What’s more, he was so young.
Deke, however, still couldn’t wrap his head around it.
’Never mind what Level his Mage Profession was. During that fight, Lin Mo hadn’t used any Magic, yet he’d still displayed astonishing overall abilities. A performance like that didn’t seem like a Level 8 Warrior at all.’
But since this involved another’s secrets, he knew better than to press the issue. He quickly pushed the thoughts from his mind and got down to business.
"Alright, since everyone’s here, I’ll go over the details of our next mission."
As he spoke, he took out the C Level mission request.
Lin Mo took a closer look—
[Trade Route Escort]
Mission Number: C-5547
Mission Type: Guard/Escort
Mission Level: C Level
Client: Jade Merchant Group
Reward: Base pay of 3,000 gold coins, with additional bonuses based on the dangers and difficulties encountered during the journey (Bonus standards and assessment guaranteed by the Adventurer’s Association).
Mission Brief:
Escort a merchant caravan from Fajade City to the Royal Capital, passing through a section of the Blackwater Swamp (approx. 40% of the journey).
’An escort mission?’
Lin Mo was a bit surprised. Ever since becoming an Adventurer, the vast majority of missions he’d taken were for gathering materials or hunting Demons; he rarely picked other types.
Material gathering and Demon-hunting missions were simple and direct. Their difficulty wasn’t necessarily low—some were incredibly hard—but they didn’t require much thinking. You just had to charge in, kill everything, and be done with it. The efficiency was also relatively high.
"Among all the C Level missions currently posted by the Association, this one is probably the least difficult. If we’re lucky, we might only run into a few Low Tier Lord Level Demons."
Deke explained, "Besides, the Royal Capital isn’t very far from Fajade City. The whole trip should take about two or three days. Once we arrive in the Royal Capital, we can pick up another mission and turn it in when we come back here."
"You can do that?"
Lin Mo was taken aback.
"We can. Since the Royal Capital and Fajade City are so close, there’s a lot of back-and-forth, and commercial travel is heavy. Adventurers are constantly running between the two. So, the Adventurer’s Associations in both cities decided to integrate their mission systems. You can accept a mission in one city and turn it in at the other."
"That’s good."
Lin Mo nodded. The mission wasn’t too long; two to three days was perfectly acceptable. Plus, they could pick up another mission for the return trip. All things considered, it was quite efficient.
Most importantly, according to Deke, this mission was on the easier side for a C Level mission.
Even though Lin Mo’s strength had been growing by leaps and bounds since he came to this world, he had never forgotten the accident he encountered on the very first day he arrived.
He was fairly confident he could handle Elite Level Demons, but it was never a sure thing. The wilds were full of unpredictable dangers.
He could only deal with Demons that had just reached Elite Level. Levels 11 and 12 were manageable, but Levels 13 and 14 were a different story.
After Level 10, each level difference meant a 20-point difference in Attributes, and the stat gains per level were also higher. Lin Mo didn’t think he had the ability to defeat an opponent three or four levels higher than himself.
’If a special situation like that really did occur, as long as the Demon wasn’t an Agile Type, I might be able to use my superior speed and my two Skills, Shadow Splitting and Flash, to escape. But what about the others?’
All things considered, avoiding a direct confrontation with an Elite Level Demon would be the best-case scenario.
"As for the dangers we might face on the road, I’ve prepared a detailed breakdown..."
An experienced adventurer like Deke had obviously thought things through carefully before accepting the mission. "First, of course, are the Demons in the Blackwater Swamp... But according to the route given in the mission details, our journey this time won’t take us through the core area of the Blackwater Swamp. We’ll be operating entirely in the swamp’s shallow regions. The closest we’ll get to the Core Area is this stretch of the road—"
