Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 479 - 444: The Influence of the Level Gap

Chapter 479: Chapter 444: The Influence of the Level Gap

Seeing Duan Kong return, Li Qian immediately asked, "Teacher Duan, what was that creature’s cry just now? It sounded pretty creepy."

Duan Kong stared straight ahead and replied, "A Netherworld Jellyfish, a Pet Beast with dual Water and Undead attributes. That damn thing’s combat power is so-so, but its ability to bewitch minds and escape is rather impressive, making it quite a hassle to deal with."

Hearing this, Li Qian instantly grasped the deeper meaning. "Teacher Duan, does that mean you didn’t manage to kill it in the fight just now?"

"A Saint Spirit Level Netherworld Jellyfish isn’t that easy to kill. Besides, if the fight had dragged on too long, we might have drawn a whole swarm of them to attack us."

Duan Kong shook his head and answered truthfully, "So I just had the Undead Bone Dragon drive it away from our flight path."

"That’s for the best," Li Qian agreed. "After all, arriving safely is what’s most important for us. Besides, the Extraordinary Creatures in the Dimension Planes are endless; you can never kill them all."

After this little episode, the Flying Ship continued on its way, its speed not decreasing in the slightest.

Knowing that the "Saint of the Void" from Jiangnan Beast Taming University was aboard the Flying Ship, all the passengers who had been a little anxious calmed down.

With such a powerhouse on board, they were certain to reach their destination safely.

Around three in the morning, the Flying Ship finally arrived safely at Black Feather City. Upon arrival, the sky was still as black as ink.

"Black Feather City is different from Shuihua City. Because its surroundings are considerably safer, the city was built on a much larger scale. It’s a medium-sized city," Duan Kong explained after they arrived.

In fact, Li Qian could have sensed that even if Duan Kong hadn’t said anything. Despite it being three in the morning in a Dimension Plane, he could still see plenty of Adventurers on the streets.

"Teacher Duan, are we heading straight to the Dimensional Rift now?" Li Qian asked as he and Duan Kong walked side-by-side after leaving the Flying Ship Base.

Duan Kong pointed ahead in a certain direction, a mysterious smile on his face. "There’s no rush. It’s been a long journey. We’ll be heading to the Shallow Elemental Plane soon enough, so we can take a break first."

"That works." Li Qian thought for a moment. What Teacher Duan said seemed quite reasonable, so he nodded and agreed with the plan.

With the plan set, Li Qian quietly followed behind Duan Kong. They passed through a few city blocks before turning into an alleyway with a distinctly different atmosphere.

Seeing that they had entered a residential area, Li Qian was completely baffled. "Aren’t we going to look for a hotel or an inn?"

Since they were going to rest, a hotel or an inn were the first two places that came to Li Qian’s mind. Given Teacher Duan’s status, even going directly to the Garrison Mansion wouldn’t be out of the question.

After all, there was Teacher Duan’s status to consider.

In response to Li Qian’s question, the smile on Duan Kong’s face grew even wider. "Now that we’re in Black Feather City, why would we go to a hotel or an inn?"

"We can just go to my place."

As he spoke, Duan Kong was already leading the way forward.

"What?"

Hearing this, Li Qian froze for a moment. When he came to his senses, he couldn’t help but ask in astonishment, "Teacher Duan, you own property here in Black Feather City?"

"Is it so strange for me to own property in Black Feather City?" Duan Kong retorted, turning his head.

Li Qian quickly waved his hands. "No, not at all. I’m just a bit surprised."

Duan Kong gestured ahead. "Traveling in and out of the Dimension Plane is a bit of a hassle, so I figured I might as well set up a home here."

"When we get to my place, I’ll have my wife whip up something delicious. We’ll eat our fill, get some rest, and set out again tomorrow morning," Duan Kong continued, laying out the plan.

Hearing this, the shock Li Qian had just swallowed down came bubbling back up. "Your wife is here, too?"

"It wouldn’t be a home without a woman to look after it," Duan Kong said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

As the two of them spoke, they unknowingly entered a new neighborhood.

Here, the houses were tastefully arranged—almost all of them two or three-story villas. The roads were clean and tidy, and even the landscaping was impeccable.

Clearly, this was a high-end residential area, well-planned by the authorities.

After an iris scan to enter the residential area, the two continued without pause. Before long, they arrived at their destination: a three-story villa.

Another iris scan, and the iron gate in front of the villa swung open slowly.

"Old Duan, you’re back!" Before Li Qian could even step inside and get a look at the place, a clear, melodious voice rang out. Carried on a fragrant breeze, a stunning, shapely figure rushed toward them.

Before Li Qian could even react, the stunning figure threw herself into Duan Kong’s arms. "Old Duan, how long has it been since you last came to my place?"

"It hasn’t been that long," Duan Kong said, hugging her and patting her on the shoulder comfortingly. "I’m pretty sure I was here just half a month ago."

"And you have the nerve to say that! It’s already been half a month," the stunning woman said, her voice laced with a playful resentment.

Watching this scene, Li Qian couldn’t help but be amused, but at the same time, his mind was in turmoil.

This woman had to be the "wife" Teacher Duan had mentioned, but she was nothing like he had imagined.

She had a classic oval face, slender, arched brows, and a small, cherry-like mouth, complemented by a pair of large, expressive eyes. Judging by her features alone, she was an absolute beauty, easily on par with someone like Irina.
