Chapter 672: Chapter 478: Black Stone Territory’s Two New Legendary Members
"That is a true pity."
He sighed, his face filled with regret.
"Originally, I had planned to tell you esteemed masters that that world... is a bit special."
"It... is also a world of human civilization."
This sentence made Mage Delin’s eyes twitch.
A human civilization?
This meant that world very likely possessed a knowledge system, magical heritage, and even a social structure different from their own!
The research value was immeasurable!
Master Wendel also subconsciously held his breath.
Raylo took in their reactions, the smile on his lips deepening.
He threw out his final, most deadly bait.
"Moreover, the human civilization of that world seems to have just gone through... a war with another Otherworld."
"They lost."
"Now, the entire world has become a Doomsday World. The rules have collapsed, the continent has shattered, and its civilization has perished."
BOOM!
That sentence was like a bombshell detonating in the minds of the two Legendary Mages!
A world of human civilization becoming a Doomsday World!
What did this mean?
It meant countless lost Magic Towers, countless ancient ruins, countless unattended Alchemy Workshops, and countless precious Magic Books and Experimental Notes left behind by masters who had fallen in battle...
All scattered quietly across that shattered world, just waiting to be discovered!
It was a massive treasure trove!
"Is this true?!"
This time, even the ever-composed Mage Delin could no longer remain calm.
This was no longer a simple matter of "research value."
This was a colossal opportunity, one that could change the very landscape of the entire Continent!
It was said that the Celestial Pillar Empire, the most powerful empire in the eastern Continent, had risen from a small Kingdom to become one of the top Empires on the Continent only after inheriting the legacy of another world.
Master Wendel, for his part, was simply frozen on the spot.
His mind was a complete blank, with only the words "Doomsday World," "human civilization," and "world war" echoing madly inside.
Faced with such a colossal temptation, his so-called pride as a Legendary Mage was shattered to pieces, not even dust remaining.
He regretted it.
He was sick with regret.
Raylo looked at Mage Delin’s excited expression and laughed heartily.
"Master Delin, hearing is one thing, but seeing is believing."
"I’ve already brought the spatial rift back. It’s set up in the square."
Moving a spatial rift—it sounded simple, but typically, not even a Tier Six Catastrophe Level expert, even one extremely skilled in Space Magic, could accomplish such a feat.
"This way, please."
Raylo turned to the side, making a "please" gesture. He deliberately avoided looking at Wendel, as if the man no longer existed.
This act was a complete and utter snub.
"Good! Good! Good!"
Mage Delin said the word "Good" three times in a row, unable to wait any longer.
He turned around and saw his old friend standing there motionless, a look of remorse on his face, like a petrified statue.
Mage Delin walked over, patted his stiff shoulder, and a teasing smile appeared on his face.
"Old friend, what are you still standing there for?"
"Let’s go together."
Master Wendel’s face flushed red, then turned pale. Finally, like a deflated ball, he let out a heavy sigh, hung his head, and followed behind Delin.
Raylo walked at the very front, a sly arc secretly forming on his lips.
...
「Two hours later.」
In the dining hall of the Lord’s Mansion, the long table was laden with a sumptuous feast.
However, the atmosphere was completely different from the past few days.
The two Legendary Mages, Wendel and Delin, sat opposite Raylo, their posture clearly much more humbled.
This was especially true for Master Wendel. He no longer had that arrogant, blustering demeanor.
He would occasionally raise his eyes to steal a glance at Raylo, his expression complex—a mix of curiosity, a hint of unwillingness, and, more than anything, the helpless frustration of being completely outmaneuvered.
Lillian sat beside them, and seeing her master looking so defeated, she couldn’t help but want to laugh. She had to force herself to hold it in, her shoulders trembling.
"Ahem."
Raylo dabbed the corner of his mouth with a napkin, set down his knife and fork, and broke the somewhat awkward silence.
"Masters, regarding the Doomsday World, I imagine you have already reached a preliminary conclusion."
Just moments ago, in the square, before the astonished eyes of the two Legendary Mages, Coal Ball had yawned and spat out the spatial rift it had swallowed.
The spatial rift floated in mid-air, reflecting a corner of that decaying, shattered world.
They could clearly see, on a massive fragment of a continent drifting in a void storm, a dilapidated Mage Tower flickering with its last vestiges of Magic Radiance.
That single glance was enough for the two Legendary Mages to confirm that Raylo had not been lying.
"That is not just an opportunity."
Mage Delin’s expression became more serious than ever before.
He looked at Raylo and said in a grave voice,
"That is... the remains of a complete human Magic Civilization, one with a developmental path entirely different from our own."
"Its value is incalculable."
Master Wendel, at his side, nodded heavily in agreement.
He was thoroughly humbled now.
In the face of a treasure trove vast enough to change the world, his pathetic little pride was not even worth mentioning.
"Yes."
Raylo nodded.
"The knowledge of an entire world is as vast as the ocean. For my Black Stone Territory to try and fully excavate and absorb it all on its own would be nothing but a fool’s dream."
His gaze swept over the two Legendary Mages.
"Therefore, my previous proposal still stands."
The dining hall fell silent.
All eyes focused on Raylo.
Lillian and Avril both held their breath nervously.
They knew that what came next would be a critical moment that would determine the future of Black Stone Territory.
"I, Raylo, Lord of Black Stone Territory, hereby formally invite Master Delin and Master Wendel to serve as the chief Magic Consultants for my Black Stone Territory."
He promised,
"I will provide both of you with the highest standard of treatment and the freest research environment."
"All of Black Stone Territory’s resources, including the Mobile Alchemy Workshop and full exploration rights to the Doomsday World, will be open to you both without reservation."
There was no feigned courtesy, no haggling.
Raylo laid all his cards on the table.
He didn’t just want the wisdom of two Legendary Mages; he wanted to bind them completely to the future of Black Stone Territory!
Delin and Wendel exchanged a look.
They both saw a trace of gravity in the other’s eyes.
Raylo’s terms seemed fair, even generous to an extreme.
But they both understood that once they agreed, they would no longer be free and untethered wanderers.
Their research, their achievements—all would be stamped with the brand of "Black Stone Territory."
This wasn’t a simple "collaboration" but a deep "bond."
"Kid, you’ve got quite an appetite."
After a long moment, Master Wendel finally spoke slowly. This time, there was no mockery in his voice, only calm.
"Trying to get us two old geezers to be your workhorses for life?"
"No."
Raylo shook his head, his answer surprising everyone.
"I am not hiring you for a ’lifetime’."
"But for an ’era’."
"An era?"
Mage Wendel was taken aback.
"Yes."
Raylo stood up and walked to the massive floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze falling upon the vast expanse of land outside.
"An entirely new era of Magic and Alchemy, one that we will pioneer together!"
His voice was full of infectious passion.
"Masters, you stand at the pinnacle of the old era, looking down upon the entire world. But haven’t you felt it? This world has been stagnant for far too long."
"Magic has stagnated."
"Alchemy is mired in convention."
"And now, an unprecedented opportunity lies before us."
He turned, his gaze burning as he looked at the two Legendary Mages.
"Phillips’s ’Miracle Creation,’ and the remains of a human civilization whose world is ending."
"The combination of these two is enough for us to move the future of the entire world!"
"We will no longer be mere inheritors of knowledge, but the... pioneers of a new era!"
"Everything we create will be carved into the monuments of history, to be passed down for millennia!"
"And the starting point for all of this is right here in Black Stone Territory."
"All of these miracles will begin at your hands."
"Starting today!"
You could have heard a pin drop in the dining hall.
Even as Legends, Delin and Wendel could not help but be shaken by the magnificent blueprint Raylo had painted for them.
