Chapter 716: Chapter 500: 12 Legends Gather in Black Stone Territory
"Alright, enough with the pleasantries."
Master Fran waved his hand dismissively. He was getting impatient.
"Gregory, Morpheus, come take a look. It’s this blasted thing!"
The two newly arrived Legendary Mages immediately joined the research and discussion.
In an instant, inside the workshop, five of the continent’s top Legendary beings were gathered around a single door, their minds clashing fiercely.
"Wrong! The Energy Circuits at this node are definitely not a simple series structure! Phillips must have used Space Folding technology here!"
Morpheus concluded after careful observation.
"Nonsense!"
Elemental Tyrant Gregory immediately retorted, his voice like a great bell, making the entire workshop hum.
"Achieving Space Folding on such a tiny rune? What kind of terrifying computational power and Spiritual Power would that require? In my opinion, this is more like a Disguise Rune. Its true purpose is to interfere with our judgment!"
"Gregory, is there room in that brain of yours for anything besides Fireballs and magma?"
Master Fran scoffed without holding back.
"Can’t you see the miniature Time Anchor Point accompanying this rune? This is clearly a complex spatio-temporal trick!"
"Time? Space?"
Master Delin shook his head and spoke slowly.
"You’ve all overlooked the most crucial point. This rune’s energy isn’t supplied externally. It comes from an independent, miniature cycle within it, constructed from Soul Power. This involves the Soul Law. Unless you solve this core issue, all your deductions are futile."
"Soul..."
Master Wendel stroked his chin thoughtfully.
’If that’s really the case, then this is even more troublesome...’
Five Legendary Mages, five completely different points of view, clashing fiercely within the small workshop.
They would argue loudly one moment, then fall into long silences the next, their fingers constantly tracing complex runes in the air that no Mortal could possibly comprehend.
Pure Magic Power surged between them, and their vast Spiritual Power swept through the workshop like an invisible storm.
In the corner, Master Barnaby was completely dumbfounded.
He stood there slack-jawed, still holding the teapot, having forgotten what he was supposed to do next.
Any one of these five was on the same level as Master Delin and Master Wendel, and some were even greater titans in their respective fields.
Space Folding, Time Anchor Points, soul cycles...
He only half-understood these terms.
Yet these five discussed them as casually as if they were talking about a home-cooked recipe.
Raylo watched this scene, which could only be described as a "clash of titans," his heart turbulent.
He knew that this matter wouldn’t be resolved anytime soon.
The complexity of the puzzle Phillips had left behind far exceeded his imagination.
Perhaps, just as Master Fran had said, they would need to gather more top talents from different fields to have any hope of cracking it.
He didn’t linger.
A mountain of affairs awaited him back in the Black Stone Territory.
He slipped out of the Alchemy Workshop quietly, leaving this "battlefield" of Legends to them.
...
The afternoon sun, carrying a trace of winter languor, shone through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows of the Lord’s Mansion study, casting a warm patch of light on the floor.
Raylo leaned back in a soft armchair, rubbing his throbbing temples.
The small mountain of parchment and scrolls before him had finally been reduced by half.
The territorial dispute between the Count of the Eagle and the Count of Fury had been redirected to the battlefields of the Amber Territory, just as he had planned.
The naval threat from the Radiant Sun Islands was also being met, with the Marquis of Baisha having organized a preliminary line of defense.
Thanks to his swift and decisive actions, the situation in the Duchy had been temporarily stabilized.
But Raylo knew this was only temporary.
Both the internal strife in the South and the external threats from the southwest were merely symptoms.
The true behemoth lurking beneath the surface was the organization known as the Light Holy See, along with the vast continent being steadily enveloped by the clouds of war.
The Thunder Dragon Duchy was like a small boat in a raging storm, in constant danger of capsizing.
He needed more Power.
"KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!"
A series of urgent knocks on the door interrupted Raylo’s thoughts.
"Come in."
The study door was pushed open, and Ed’s figure appeared in the doorway.
"My Lord!"
He walked quickly to the desk, a hint of excitement in his voice.
"I haven’t failed the mission! We’re back!"
Raylo’s gaze landed on a wooden box in Ed’s hands.
"How did it go?"
Raylo asked.
"The harvest was immense!"
Ed carefully placed the wooden box on the desk and opened the lid.
Inside, the box was densely packed with thousands of translucent, sparkling eggs!
Each egg emitted a soft, dreamlike halo of light.
"In that valley and the surrounding area, we found thousands of scattered Illusory Light Butterfly eggs."
Ed said.
Raylo tore his gaze away from the box full of eggs.
"And the Sun?"
"After... incinerating that Domain Level python, Lord Sun took its corpse and returned to Black Stone City."
Raylo nodded.
With this batch of Illusory Light Butterflies, once they all hatched and matured, the amount of Illusory Scale Powder they could provide would be terrifyingly large.
"Well done, Ed."
Raylo said in approval.
"Keep these eggs safe for now. I’ll have Master Barnaby and Carl coordinate with you on the subsequent incubation."
"Yes, my Lord!"
Ed bowed and turned to leave.
Outside the window, the sun had already begun to set in the west.
He wondered if those five Legendary Masters back in the Alchemy Workshop had reached any conclusions.
Driven by a sliver of curiosity, Raylo left the study again and walked toward the Central Plaza.
However, when he once again stepped inside the Mobile Alchemy Workshop, which crouched on the plaza like a Giant Beast, he froze.
The once-spacious workshop was now crowded with twelve Elder Mages!
In addition to Master Delin, Master Wendel, Master Fran, Elemental Tyrant Gregory, and Space Traveler Morpheus, whom he had seen before, there were seven new faces.
These seven new Elder Mages also had white hair and beards, but each one of them radiated a completely different, yet equally unfathomable and terrifying aura.
One was a hunched-over old woman leaning on a Magic Staff made of deadwood. Raylo could feel a vast and pure Life Energy flowing around her, filling the surrounding air with vitality.
Another was an old man with a withered face, so thin he was nothing but skin and bones, dressed in a simple gray robe.
He just stood there quietly, and the cold, deathly Undead Aura he emanated—even the slightest wisp of it—was enough to form a thin layer of white frost on the ground around him.
There was another, completely shrouded in a strange, silver robe that seemed to be made of liquid metal, their face and gender indiscernible. A dozen or so metal rings of various sizes levitated and slowly rotated around their body, each inscribed with tens of thousands of miniature runes.
From beneath the robe’s hood, Raylo could faintly make out the form of a humanoid mechanical Puppet.
Twelve Mages.
Twelve completely distinct and terrifying auras, all at the Catastrophe Level, intertwined and clashed within the small Alchemy Workshop.
All of their gazes were focused on the massive metal door at the very center.
Together, they were fiercely discussing how to solve the alchemical puzzle on the door.
