Chapter 839: Chapter 558: The Red Dragon Emperor’s Declaration, "Today, We Slay Gods!
"This is a test from the Divine Spirit! It’s the heretics’ final madness! The Divine Spirit is watching us, testing if our faith is firm!"
A manic flush appeared on Lorand’s face. Golden Holy Light burst forth from his body, forming a pillar of light that pierced the sky.
"Everyone!
"Offer our most devout faith to our Lord, the great Light Deity!
"Pray for the Divine Lord to send down a Miracle to purify the evil before us!" Lorand roared.
Under the threat of death, faith became their only lifeline.
"Praise you, Lord of Light!"
"We pray for you to send down a Miracle!"
On the deck and in the cabins, tens of thousands of Knights, sailors, and Priests fell to their knees in unison. They closed their eyes, clasped their hands together, and used all their strength to utter desperate prayers.
Lorand pointed his sword at the Star and let out a long howl at the sky. However, the death Star in the sky would not halt in the slightest because of their prayers.
It was getting closer. They could even feel the scorching waves of air brought by that destructive Power. The sea began to boil, and the steel hulls of the warships were roasted red. Despair shrouded everyone once again. Prayers were useless. The Divine Lord did not respond to them.
Just as the last glimmer of light in Lorand’s eyes was about to be swallowed by endless despair...
CRACK!
A crisp sound echoed. The crowd looked up in horror. Above them, in the sky dominated by the falling Star, a rift was torn open without any warning!
A ray of golden light shone through the rift. This light was completely different from the pale death light of the falling Star. It was filled with an aura of life, majesty, and holiness. In an instant, it dispelled the fear of impending death in everyone’s hearts, replacing it with a profound warmth and reverence originating from the depths of their souls.
"It’s a Miracle!"
"The Divine Lord has responded to us! It’s a Miracle!"
A Priest was the first to react. Pointing at the expanding golden rift in the sky, he burst into tears of excitement. The desperate believers, like drowning men clutching at straws, erupted into ecstatic joy at having survived a disaster. They fell to their knees once more, kowtowing with even greater piety.
"Praise our Lord!"
Under the watchful eyes of the masses, the spatial rift was violently torn wider by an invisible hand! Immediately after, a Sun slowly squeezed out from the rift. Carrying the supreme majesty of a sovereign ruling the world, it hovered high in the heavens.
The moment it appeared, the rapidly plummeting Star—falling with a world-destroying momentum—unexpectedly stalled in its descent! Two completely different destructive auras clashed fiercely in the firmament!
"Hahaha... Hahahaha!" Lorand let out a maniacal laugh as he gazed at the golden "Sun," feeling that familiar and vast holy aura.
"Do you see that, you heretics? This is the Power of a god!
"Under the radiance of our Lord, your Evil Techniques are nothing but the light of fireflies!"
Lorand’s wild laughter echoed across the boiling sea, brimming with the madness of survival and condescending arrogance. Behind him, the tens of thousands of believers transitioned from utter despair to extreme ecstasy. The intense mental impact left them weeping freely as they offered the most devout kowtows of their lives to the newly born "Sun" in the sky.
The golden holy radiance spilled down like warm wings, soothing the fear of death in their hearts. The world-destroying pressure brought by the falling Star seemed to be blocked by the radiance of this "Sun," becoming far less suffocating.
However, hundreds of kilometers away at Cliff Horn, the atmosphere froze at this very moment.
"Oh no!"
In the center of the Array, Mage Delin, who had kept his eyes closed to guide the Star, abruptly opened them. A trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
His spiritual will was connected to the falling Star, so he was the first to "see" the true face of that entity.
"This is impossible..." Mage Delin’s voice was hoarse, laced with a trace of disbelief.
Through the connected Star, Mage Delin "saw" that the so-called golden "Sun" was not an energy body at all. It was a rift in the world Barrier that had been forcibly torn open. Behind the rift was a Different Space, far more profound than the cosmic void and brimming with a holy aura.
And at the core of that "Sun" was a creature! A vaguely-shaped humanoid creature possessing twelve golden wings, exuding a terrifying World Destruction Level aura!
"A World Destruction Level... Angel of Death!"
An Angel of Death! And a World Destruction Level one at that? The expressions of the surrounding Catastrophe Mages drastically changed in an instant.
BUZZ!
High up in the firmament, the Twelve-winged Angel of Death moved.
It did not make a single sound. It simply raised a hand slowly and pressed down lightly into the void toward the Star, which was burning with pale Flames and on the verge of completely wiping out the Light fleet.
In an instant, space seemed to freeze. The Star, which had previously been surging forward with endless kinetic energy and destructive Power, actually had its falling speed sharply decelerate at a visible rate! It was as if a Mammoth, charging at top speed, had crashed into a thick iron wall.
PFFT!
Mage Delin sprayed another mouthful of blood mist, his face instantly turning as pale as a sheet of paper.
The other nine Catastrophe Mages hosting the Array also trembled violently, their Spiritual Power suffering a terrifying backlash. The reactionary force of forcibly halting a falling Star was enough to almost tear the entire Star-Attracting Array apart!
"Steady the Array!" Mage Delin roared, his eyes bloodshot. Ignoring the piercing pain in his Sea of Spiritual, he viciously poured his will and Magic Power into the core of the Array once again. "The Power of Mortals can also contend with Divine Spirits! Fall... for... me!"
BOOM!
Thousands of Grand Mages forcefully braced their spirits, pushing their Magic Power to the absolute limit. The enormous Star-Attracting Array glowed brightly once more. The "Space Strings" connecting to the Star were stretched to their limits, letting out overwhelmed wails.
The decelerated Star once again, with great difficulty and inch by inch, pressed down toward the sea! This was the Peak of Mortal Magic Civilization, engaging in its first head-on struggle with the strongest War Weapon under the gods’ command!
At Cloud Sea Peak.
Austin Sage’s eyes reflected the Twelve-winged Angel spanning the horizon. His expression was more solemn than ever before.
"To think... that great Divine Lord was actually willing to send his own ’Divine Servant’." He spoke slowly, his voice carrying a hint of a sigh. "It seems we have truly touched his bottom line this time."
The Red Dragon Emperor, Aragon II, stood with his hands behind his back. His Flame-like red hair fluttered wildly in the astral winds, but not a shred of fear could be seen on his face. Instead, a domineering sneer curled on his lips.
"Austin Sage, if this Star represents your determination to declare war on the Light Deity—" His gaze was like a knife, staring straight at that holy and majestic Twelve-winged Angel of Death. "—then your Mage City has already demonstrated your resolve to the world, and to that arrogant Divine Spirit."
Aragon II’s voice suddenly turned as majestic as thunder, causing the Cloud Sea to churn.
"Just now, you asked for my choice?
"Then today, let the world and that Divine Lord see the resolve of my Red Dragon Empire!"
The moment his voice faded, Aragon II took a step forward. With just this one step, the space behind him shattered without warning, like a fragile mirror! Then, a dark red dragon head, so massive it defied description, slowly extended from the fractured void.
It was a majestic Red Dragon... with a body stretching for tens of thousands of meters! Its scales were like burning Hell magma; each piece was the size of a house, with scorching lava flowing over them. A pair of sky-obscuring Dragon Wings folded at its sides. On top of its head grew two towering Dragon Horns resembling a crown, each entwined with destructive Flames.
When its dragon eyes opened, two Dark Gold Suns seemed to light up in the void, burning within them the doomsday Blazing Flames capable of incinerating all things!
A World Destruction Level Giant Dragon, Burning Heaven!
Aragon II’s figure appeared on top of the Doomsday Dragon King’s massive, mountain-like head.
BOOM!
A terrifying aura that similarly reached the World Destruction Level soared into the sky from Aragon II’s body. It perfectly merged with the aura of the Red Dragon Burning Heaven beneath his feet, transforming into a blood-colored dragon-shaped pillar of air that pierced through heaven and earth!
At this moment, the monarch of the Red Dragon Empire fully released his Power. He and his Giant Dragon companion were two halves of a whole, both being World Destruction Level entities standing at the Peak of this world! This was Aragon II’s true confidence in daring to swing his sword at the Light Deity!
"Austin Sage, watch closely." Aragon II’s voice drifted down from the high heavens, carrying the majesty and confidence of a ruler of the world. "Today, in front of the whole world, I shall..."
He reached out his hand, and a hundred-meter-long Giant Sword constructed of destructive Dragon Flames condensed into shape in his grasp.
"...slaughter... a god!"
