Chapter 846: Chapter 562: Subduing the Fiery Sun Kingdom with One Palm
A moment later, inside the study.
Led by Ed, a young man walked in. He was dressed in ordinary merchant attire, with a hood obscuring most of his face. It was the King of the Fiery Sun Kingdom, Karachi.
His gaze immediately locked onto Raylo behind the desk. Seeing his former rival, Karachi felt a wave of complex emotions. He considered himself quite talented, yet even with the royal family’s nearly unlimited supply of resources, he had only recently managed to touch the threshold of the Domain Level. However, the young man before him was a few years his junior.
The faint aura surrounding Raylo felt heavy enough to crush a person’s soul, constantly declaring a singular, undeniable fact:
Catastrophe!
A Catastrophe Level powerhouse who reigned supreme over the world!
"Count Raylo." Karachi took a deep breath, suppressing the shock in his heart, and bowed slightly to Raylo.
"King Karachi, please take a seat." Raylo raised his hand to gesture to the sofa opposite him, his tone peaceful.
"Count Raylo, I won’t beat around the bush." After sitting down, Karachi got straight to the point, his voice carrying a trace of bitterness. "I believe you should know the purpose of my visit."
"I can guess a little." Raylo poured him a cup of tea. "For that joint declaration?"
"Yes." Karachi nodded, a look of absolute resolve appearing on his face. "I, and the Fiery Sun Kingdom behind me, have decided to answer the call of Mage City and the Red Dragon Empire." He looked up, staring directly into Raylo’s eyes, and enunciated every word clearly. "I will issue an order to expel all personnel of the Light Holy See from the entire territory of the Fiery Sun Kingdom and completely eradicate the faith of the Light Deity!"
Hearing this, Raylo simply smiled noncommittally.
Seeing his reaction, Karachi’s heart tightened, and he quickly added, "But... the Holy See has operated in my country for hundreds of years, and its forces are deeply entrenched. Forcibly expelling them might cause massive upheaval in the kingdom, perhaps even... a civil war."
"And so?" Raylo picked up his teacup and gently blew on the hot steam.
"And so I need your help!" Karachi finally revealed the ultimate purpose of his trip. "I need your power to help me purge the stubborn factions within the kingdom. As compensation..." He paused, as if making this decision had drained all his strength. "The Fiery Sun Kingdom is willing to become a vassal state of the Thunder Dragon Duchy!"
For an independent kingdom with hundreds of years of history to submit to another was a humiliating disgrace for any monarch. But Karachi knew very well that the times had changed. In the face of the storm of war about to sweep across the continent, a kingdom without a Catastrophe Level powerhouse presiding over it didn’t even have the qualifications to be a pawn; it would only be ground to dust.
Rather than being passively destroyed, it was better to actively integrate. By becoming Count Raylo’s vassal, at the very least, his kingdom and its people could be preserved.
Raylo observed Karachi, inwardly surprised. To make such a resolute and correct judgment in such a short amount of time, even risking his dignity as a king to negotiate in person... This Karachi had changed, or rather, grown tremendously compared to the Kingdom’s Crown Prince he had met back then.
"I can help you." Raylo set down his teacup, delivering the answer Karachi most wanted to hear.
A wave of wild joy instantly surged across Karachi’s face.
"In half a month." Raylo held up two fingers. "I will personally visit the Fiery Sun Kingdom’s Royal Capital and help you resolve all your troubles."
"Excellent!" Karachi stood up. "Count Raylo, I will return immediately to prepare and await your arrival!"
...
Time flowed like water, passing in a flash.
The Thunder Dragon Duchy was preparing for the impending war. Raylo devoted his main energy to consolidating and familiarizing himself with his Catastrophe Level power, handing over the primary administrative affairs to Gaius, Ed, and others.
Half a month later, at the Royal Capital of the Fiery Sun Kingdom.
This was a majestic city built on the plains. Its walls were constructed of massive white rocks that reflected a dazzling brilliance under the sun.
At this moment, ten thousand meters in the sky, hidden among the clouds.
Raylo stood with his hands behind his back. Lightning’s massive body was covered in blue-purple scales, and arcs of electricity darted through the gaps between them. The electricity crackled softly with a faint SIZZLE, yet it was firmly restrained by an invisible force, not leaking in the slightest.
"Moonlight, don’t just idle around. Help me check what kind of rats are scurrying below," Raylo said.
"AWOO!" Moonlight’s Spiritual Power spread out, sweeping across the entire royal city.
Raylo also used his Spiritual Power to scan the city below. Just like the information transmitted back by Moonlight, there was no trace of any Catastrophe Level aura in the city beneath them.
"It seems the Six-winged Angel of Death who fell at the Jade Swamp really was the only Catastrophe Level in the Fiery Sun Kingdom. There are quite a few Domain Level powerhouses, though—about fifteen of them!" Raylo concluded.
Raylo didn’t trust Karachi one hundred percent. The word "loyalty" didn’t exist in the mind of this young monarch; betrayal and deceit were skills carved into his very bones. Taking necessary precautions was a basic necessity.
After confirming that there were no forces capable of threatening him, Raylo’s vast Spiritual Power silently blanketed downward like the tide, accurately "looking" toward the center of the city—the Fiery Sun Royal Palace.
Inside the magnificent hall of the Royal Palace, the atmosphere was at a breaking point. Dozens of figures with formidable auras were lined up on both sides. They were the pillars supporting the entire Fiery Sun Kingdom: Dukes, Marquises, Church Bishops, and other Domain Level powerhouses.
At this moment, however, these people were divided into two distinct factions, arguing fiercely.
