Chapter 514: Chapter 248: Go Get General Robson
"For the Beast Emperor!"
The Emperor’s personal charge instantly boosted the morale of all his Soldiers.
The Silver Wolf Cavalry behind Kemal all ignited their combat auras, their eyes turning bloodshot. They wielded dual blades, clad only in leather armor.
But this leather armor and these dual blades were no ordinary items! Upon closer inspection, they emanated an aura of Magic—they were all Magic Weapons!
Seeing this, General Dor could not hide the shock in his eyes.
Those were Magic Weapons! Even in the Human World, where Mages were plentiful, only powerful nobles could afford a single one.
Though it was just leather armor, it offered the protection of at least three sets of iron plate. If it had magical properties, the price would be astronomical.
’Is this the true power of the Beastman Royal Family?’
The moment General Dor saw these men and their equipment, he knew there was no longer any doubt about the outcome of this war.
As the Beast Emperor’s Personal Guard, the Wolf Cavalry charging at the very front even rode tamed magical beasts.
The heavy armor the Gray Dwarves were so proud of was no match for Magic Weapons, to say nothing of the fact that the opposing Wolf Cavalry were all Silver-rank.
Now, the Wolf Cavalry raised their curved blades and smashed right through the Gray Dwarf Heavy Infantry’s defensive line.
The Wolf Cavalry were supposed to be Light Cavalry!
General Dor watched this scene and swallowed hard.
’This is...’
’We’re not even in the same league.’
"These guys! Monsters!"
"Are those guys really the traitors? Why are traitors this strong?"
Facing such a powerful enemy, the Gray Dwarf Heavy Infantry’s resolve began to waver.
If this army was full of traitors, then they were far too strong.
Just then, Kemal’s voice rang out at the perfect moment.
"The Emperor punishes the rebels! We seek only the head of the main culprit, Dor! All others who surrender will be spared!"
The Wolf Cavalry echoed the cry in unison.
"Punish the rebels! Surrender and be spared!"
The charge of thousands of Cavalry was already imposing enough. The Gray Dwarf Heavy Infantry had just been taught a harsh lesson by this elite unit of Wolf Cavalry, and their morale was at rock bottom.
Hearing the shouts of the Wolf Cavalry, the resolve of each and every one of them began to falter.
As if on cue, Kemal released a bloodthirsty aura, similar to the Gnolls’ Bloodthirsty Cloud Qi, but not quite the same.
Immediately, a knowledgeable person among the Gray Dwarves recognized what it was.
"The Beast Emperor’s Cultivation Technique! He really is the Beast Emperor!"
"Are we really the rebels? Is he truly His Majesty the Beast Emperor?"
Once the army’s morale wavered, the fate of the battle was essentially sealed.
After scattering the Gray Dwarf Heavy Infantry at the front, the hundred-odd Silver-rank Extraordinary Light Cavalry did not press deeper. Instead, they relied on their superb riding skills and the innate agility of their magical beasts to wheel around and begin carving through the flanks.
It was clear that even as Silver-rank Extraordinary warriors, they were still Light Cavalry and knew better than to get bogged down in a mire of Heavy Infantry.
But even as the Silver-rank Extraordinary Light Cavalry pulled back, they had reinforcements right behind them.
Don’t forget, there were still several thousand Cavalry behind them.
Even a trickle of water can wear away the hardest stone over time, let alone the raging river that was the Beastman Wolf Cavalry.
The once-dominant Gray Dwarf Heavy Infantry were gradually being whittled down under the relentless assault of the Beastman Wolf Cavalry.
Watching his dwindling number of Warriors, Prince Dor knew it was time to flee.
If this continued, he’d be meeting some god or another long before any reinforcements could arrive.
"Retreat! Retreat! Third company, cover the rear! The rest of you, fall back!"
Prince Dor shouted.
...
With Prince Dor’s order, the situation on the battlefield was basically decided.
At least, the situation at the vanguard was decided.
As Kemal led his army surging forward, General Dor began to retreat with his Personal Guard, triggering a total rout of the entire forward camp.
About three to four hundred Gray Dwarves did stay behind to cover General Dor’s retreat.
However, the main force of the forward camp wasn’t the Gray Dwarves! The largest contingent, by far, was the earth goblins.
Their Gray Dwarf masters were fleeing, an unstoppable force of Beastman Wolf Cavalry was charging toward them, and there was a high chance they were being led by the Beast Emperor himself!
"Surrender! I surrender!"
"Don’t kill us!"
The earth goblins had not fared well under the rule of the Gray Dwarves; in truth, none of the lesser races had it easy in the Beastman Empire.
Their own masters had been utterly routed, so what reason did they have to keep fighting?
In an instant, wails filled the battlefield as they all surrendered to the surrounding Beastman Wolf Cavalry.
Because Kemal had previously given the order not to kill those who surrendered, the Beastman Wolf Cavalry paid no mind to the surrendering earth goblins, simply bypassing them and continuing their charge toward the rear.
For a moment, the battlefield was a cacophony of battle cries and screams of flight, with kneeling, surrendering Soldiers everywhere.
Seeing this, General Dor couldn’t muster any thought of continued resistance and could only continue to flee toward the rear.
...
Meanwhile, in the Gray Dwarves’ rear camp, King Monroe was finally starting to receive battle reports from the front.
’Over two thousand Beastman Wolf Cavalry... they broke through the forward camp and are now heading this way.’
"The Royal Guard! Quickly, have the Royal Guard assemble!"
King Monroe quickly mobilized the Gray Dwarf army in the central camp.
’So the vanguard was broken. So be it. The main strength of the Gray Dwarves isn’t in the vanguard anyway.’
Before long, General Dor burst into the camp with a hundred or so Gray Dwarf Warriors, a countless number of Beastman Wolf Cavalry hot on their heels.
Watching Dor flee in such disarray, King Monroe ground his teeth in frustration. ’If he weren’t my son, I’d shoot him down with an arrow myself.’
"Father! Father!"
General Dor soon ran to King Monroe’s side.
"You useless fool. How dare you come back after losing so badly?" King Monroe glared at his son, the look on his face one of utter disappointment.
General Dor ignored this, pointing at the distant Beastman Wolf Cavalry and speaking in a voice only he and his father could hear.
"Father, the one leading them... it’s Kemal!"
"That’s the Personal Guard of the Purple Blood Royal Family!"
"Kemal!"
At these words, King Monroe’s expression turned grim.
He was still completely baffled. ’Why would Kemal lead a large army to clash with me head-on?’ he wondered.
’And even if he did, isn’t his body supposed to be failing him?’
Gazing at the distant Wolf Cavalry, the thought that his former Monarch was somewhere in their midst made Monroe deeply uneasy.
’No! I can’t afford to lose all my forces here!’
King Monroe frowned.
’Kemal is just a prelude. The real goal is to overthrow the Purple-blooded Beastmen.’
Monroe looked to a waiting royal official.
"Quick! Send a message to General Robson! Tell him that if he can reach the battlefield in time, I will hand over all the maps in my possession!" King Monroe commanded.
