This Game Is Too Realistic

Chapter 728.3: Battle For Ten Peaks Mountain!

Chapter 728.3: Battle For Ten Peaks Mountain!

"On the mountain?" Li Jinrong froze. Looking at the eager players, he opened his mouth in disbelief. "You mean you're actually..."

Sideline Slacking grinned and narrowed his eyes toward the distant mountain. "The administrator told us to show everyone the spirit of the New Alliance and to not let our friends from afar look down on us."

With that, he turned toward his brothers gathered on the northern bank and raised his gun. "Brothers, follow me up the mountain! We will plant our banner on their highest peak!"

After a brief moment of silence, the crowd erupted into thunderous cheers.

"WOOOH!"

...

Not long after the force crossed the river, Eye Owe Money finally arrived, panting heavily. "Mother fucker! I'm freaking exhausted!"

Behind him followed over 100 bloated sub-bodies, each one swaying side to side as they walked. After stuffing themselves, none of them looked weak anymore. Each had grown into a bloated mountain of flesh.

Leaning on his knees and catching his breath, Eye Owe Money looked around only to notice no teammate in sight. Only a handful of uniformed men stood nearby staring at him in astonishment.

Not bothering with pleasantries, he roared, "Where are they? Where are those dog-riding bastards?!"

Li Jinrong blankly pointed toward the mountain while staring at the sub-bodies.

Eye Owe Money glanced at the distant peak, then at the river before him. A look of resignation appeared on his face as he asked, "Why the hell didn't you build a bridge?"

Li Jinrong laughed bitterly. "The mountain is full of Mutant Humans. If we rushed to build a bridge, we would just be creating trouble for ourselves. Of course, we've already prepared the materials. It won't take long."

"Forget it, forget it." Eye Owe Money waved him off. "I'll build it myself later. You guys go fetch the supplies."

Li Jinrong nodded and quickly led his men back toward the base.

Realizing there was no way he could catch up now anyway, Eye Owe Money decided he might as well help deal with the aftermath.

Turning around, he shouted at his subordinates. "Alright boys, dinner ti... Wait, what the hell? I didn't even give the order yet! Why are you already eating?!"

...

The northernmost peak of Ten Peaks Mountain was called Manor Peak. That was where the once destroyed Guardian Manor City had originally taken its name. With everything destroyed, Guardian Manor City had already transformed to Guardian Manor Plains.

As for the Mutant Humans inhabiting Manor Peak, most belonged to the Stonehorn Tribe. The 40 kilometer long White Bone Road owed much of its existence to them. Every bone buried within those mountains represented a blood-soaked tragedy.

On Manor Peak, the Mutant Humans built square towers from human skulls. They built watchtowers and camps from femurs, forming displays meant to flaunt their brutality and strength.

It was a shame, those monsters had finally bitten into a bone too hard to chew.

Humans riding Deathclaws had stormed the mountain and their methods of warfare were astonishingly ruthless.

Within moments, the Mutant Humans' hastily assembled defenses were shattered. The truly formidable warriors had already died at the foot of the mountain alongside their leader. Those remaining were either old relics, young whelps barely taller than a knee, wounded survivors from previous battles, or goblins chained near entrances as guards.

Facing those freaks, the Death Corps showed no mercy. Every Mutant Human they encountered was either stabbed or shot. They were granted the same death as everyone else.

Slaughter raged across mountain and cavern alike, from cliffs into caves, from caves into tunnels. From those very same tunnels back out the other side of the mountain, staining even the distant sunset crimson.

In two short hours, the Stonehorn Tribe had been wiped out. Their bodies formed small hills across the open ground and there were too many to count. A rough estimate placed the dead Mutant Humans alone at 1,000 to 2,000, and if the included the goblins, the number likely reached the 6,000s.

The sheer scale of the blood debt was obvious!

After tallying the casualties and spoils of war, Sideline Slacking tied his mount to a large boulder before leading several players into the Stonehorn Tribe's palace on foot. Though calling it a palace was a bit of a stretch. It was really just the tent located at the center of the camp.

Generally speaking, Mutant Humans liked to keep their captives in the middle of their settlements. It made things more convenient when they wanted entertainment, whether that meant eating them or... eating them. After all, their only form of entertainment was eating their prey.

The moment they stepped through the stone entrance of the nest, a pungent stench drifted out from the depths of the cavern.

"... Smells like rotten eggs," Midnight Umbrella grumbled while pinching his nose.

Walking beside him, Lapulasi swept his flashlight carefully across the surroundings and lowered his voice. "Stop guessing and watch the corners. Especially where you’re stepping. Don't get caught by traps."

"Exactly!" No Lady chimed in with a grin. "You wouldn't want Mutant Humans feeding you rotten eggs either, right?"

"Oh, get lost." Midnight Umbrella gagged, though his expression soon became serious.

Fortunately, it seemed the Mutant Humans had never even considered the possibility that their captives might escape. The players encountered no traps along the way and reached the deepest part of the darkness with little difficulty.

It was a spacious chamber. More than a dozen iron cages large enough to hold elephants were lined up along both sides of the cavern.

Survivors were crammed inside them and they didn't even have enough room to fully stretch their legs. Even when their compatriots arrived, they showed no reaction at all, merely maintaining their previous postures with vacant eyes.

Compared to the lairs of Mutant Humans, even marauder dungeons seemed merciful. At the very least, those disgusting bastards would occasionally dump out the waste instead of allowing disease to breed freely.

Even after the players entered the chamber, several small goblins were still chattering excitedly while crudely venting their primitive instincts upon a filthy body.

Judging from the size of the tunnel entrance, that was likely the Mutant Humans' breeding chamber rather than one of the low, cramped caves built specifically for goblins.

The little creatures had probably sneaked in while the larger Mutant Humans were out raiding.

Unable to bear the sight for even another second, Sideline Slacking strode forward in his exoskeleton, snapped the necks of the goblins with one hand, and tossed their twitching bodies into a corner as they swallowed their final breaths amid shrill cries.

The disheveled woman lying on the stone table had a stomach swollen like a balloon, her lifeless eyes stared blankly at him. Her expression was so empty that she looked dead already, with only her faint breathing serving as proof that life still remained within her.

This was the fate awaiting most survivors captured by Mutant Humans, whether in the River Valley Province or the Brocade River Province. The only difference was that the Torch Church’s biotechnology prolonged the despair.

"The Torch Church gave these survivors drugs..." Construction Boy muttered quietly. "Most likely Na Gruit. Otherwise, the people here would've died long ago."

After he spoke, he fell silent for a moment.

Sideline Slacking remained quiet for a long while before finally sighing. "... Send them to Singularity City."

In the end, he couldn't bring himself to do what Captain Lu would have done and grant those poor souls a merciful release, even though he could sense that the woman was begging him to do exactly that.

Whatever choices these unfortunate people made in the future, at the very least, those choices should belong to them.

"...Mm." Construction Boy nodded once before stepping forward, tearing off the cloth he carried and draped it over the woman. Finally, he lifted her onto his shoulder and carried her outside the cave.

After evacuating all the rescued survivors, the players of the Death Corps set the mountainside ablaze and permanently sealed the entrances to those foul dens.

Mutant Humans were large-bodied creatures and found it difficult to hide inside caves too narrow for humans. Goblins, however, were small enough to slip into cracks and crevices where no human could follow.

The fire would undoubtedly kill some of them, but it would never kill them all.

Completely purging the mutant presence from these mountains was no easy task. It was far beyond what a few hundred or even a few thousand incendiary or thermobaric bombs could accomplish.

However, those stationed there would keep killing. They would rotate shifts, log in and out, and keep killing. If they died, they would simply take the train from Dawn City and return to continue the fight, until every trace of this twisted evil had been exterminated.

The wasteland's sins extended far beyond what lay before them, but fortunately, they possessed endless blood to shed and endless strength to spend.

They could keep fighting forever!

As dusk drew to a close, the New Alliance flag fluttered atop the highest peak of Manor Peak.

Eye Owe Money, together with more than 100 of his sub-bodies, had finally completed the floating bridge under the guidance and assistance of those stationed there. Seeing the chubby boys he had painstakingly raised finally proving useful, a satisfied smile spread across his face.

Construction work counted too. As long as you contributed to the operation, you aren’t freeloading!

Of course, the moment he remembered how much money he had spent on their food, enough to help a whole lot of needy young ladies, his face immediately twisted in pain again...

Soon. truck after truck of supplies arrived at the foot of the mountain and were carried uphill by logistics personnel wearing exoskeletons.

In a single day, the first peak had been secured by the New Alliance! The first step along the 40 kilometer long White Bone Road had finally been taken.

The New Alliance frontline stood 20 kilometers away from the tallest peak of the Ten Peaks Mountain, the Blood Peak, and 35 kilometers away from Cabbage Peak, the northern gateway to the Ocean Edge Province!

For the very first time, the New Alliance had clashed directly with the Torch Church, and without much difficulty, they won by a landslide in their first victory!
