This Game Is Too Realistic

Chapter 736.2: Watch Carefully, I'll Only Do This Once

At midnight that very night, the Loyalty suddenly fired 10 400mm rocket-assisted shells at Broken Blade Peak without any warning. The blazing inferno resembled a sea of fire descending from the heavens.

The entire mountain peak was engulfed and vegetation turned to ash almost instantly. Even the rocks on the ground became scorching hot. At the same time, a 1,000-man battalion of the Army of Glory waiting at the foot of the mountain fixed bayonets onto their rifles.

A centurion with a high-bridged nose stood before them. Drawing his sidearm, he fired a shot toward the mountain and roared, "For the Marshal! For Loyalty! Charge...!"

Fanatical fervor filled every pair of eyes. The clones unleashed thunderous battle cries and rushed uphill with rifles in hand.

"Long live!"

"Kill!"

Those two short phrases were among the few words the clones could speak. Raised at eight times the normal developmental rate, they lacked complete human intelligence. Their brains could process only one-eighth the information of an ordinary human.

However, those two simple phrases perfectly summarized their entire existence. From the moment they were born, they had been preparing for this single moment of glorious burning.

"ARWOGAH!" a massive green-skinned mutant hiding within a tunnel bellowed furiously.

Having exhausted its shotgun ammunition, it swung the weapon like a club and smashed open a clone's skull. But before it could savor the white brain matter, a bayonet flashed upward like a streak of light and pierced straight through its jaw.

Scalding blood sprayed across the face of the clone soldier who stabbed it, whose features were twisted with fanaticism.

However, the creature never slowed. It continued charging while screaming and fought like drug-crazed rabid dogs.

If its legs were severed, it crawled forward with its hands. If its arms were broken, it bit with its teeth. Those Zombies were even more insane than the foul-mouthed green-skinned brutes they were fighting.

Of course, not every clone remained fearless. Some suffered complete mental collapse and curled up within pools of blood, wailing helplessly.

Yet even then, not a single one retreated.

Under the command of Wislander squad leaders, they charged forward like feral beasts, devouring everything in their path while rapidly dying in the process.

It was the first time the Mutant Humans of the Rock Axe Clan had encountered prey this vicious. For a moment, even they were stunned. Those fanatics were clearly weaker than the exoskeleton-equipped humans they had fought before, but their utter disregard for life placed tremendous psychological pressure on the Mutant Humans.

Meanwhile, the Enterprise's command center had descended into chaos. The sudden bombardment from Loyalty, followed immediately by the unexpected deployment of clone troops, caught everyone completely off guard.

Lin Shangwen had rushed to the scene. He stared silently at the tactical holographic display.

Beside him, an adjutant cursed loudly, "What the hell are those big-nosed bastards doing?! Have they lost their minds?"

Even if they wanted to show off, they could have at least informed their allies.

The officer had wanted to complain about the Army's arrogance back during the battle for Black Cloud Peak.

However, the Xilande Empire commanders had shown remarkable restraint. They hadn't even made an issue of their own troops being hit by friendly fire. As an outsider, he hadn't felt it appropriate to stir up trouble.

Yun Song also stared at the holographic screen in silence when he noticed another force moving at the foot of the mountain. Instantly, everything became clear to him. "They're trying to steal the credit."

The adjutant froze before quickly realizing the truth. "Those shameless thieves!"

They had already sacrificed over 300 mercenaries on that mountain. They had poured hundreds of rockets and thousands of heavy artillery shells into the enemy positions.

The Mutant Humans they killed numbered at least 2,000, possibly 3,000 or more!

Seeing cracks finally beginning to appear in the enemy's defenses, these bastards had chosen this moment to jump in and steal the credit!

Lin Shangwen still said nothing. He simply stared silently at the screen, lost in thought. Just as he was about to call Liam and demand an explanation, the man himself called first. An ugly nose immediately appeared in the center of the screen, followed by a smug, punchable face.

Even in the middle of the night, the man still had a wooden stick clenched between his teeth, as if it had grown there permanently. "Looks like you're having a rough time. I'll go ahead and fight this battle for you."

Hearing that shameless remark, Lin Shangwen let out a cold laugh and raised his chin slightly. "So I should be thanking you?"

"Haha! No need!" Liam laughed heartily and leaned back in his chair. His tone carried more than a hint of mockery as he continued, "I'm just worried those young masters from Ideal City haven't seen enough blood. I would hate for them to wet themselves when they reach the battlefield. It’s better to leave them in the rear playing cards."

Playing cards?

Lin Shangwen frowned and several officers behind him exchanged puzzled looks. None of them had any idea what the man was talking about.

Liam offered no explanation. Instead, he simply looked at the seemingly powerless allied officers and continued casually, "Watch closely. I'll only demonstrate this once."

With that, he terminated the call, disappearing from the screen and leaving behind a command center full of glaring officers.

...

It had to be said that the Army's schemes were smelly enough that even Spring Water Commander, who had only just arrived at the front lines, could catch a whiff of them.

Gunfire crackled across Broken Blade Peak and artillery thundered incessantly. The flashes of explosions illuminated the mountainside like daylight.

The intensity of the battle was so overwhelming that even from Manor Peak, separated by an entire ridgeline, one could almost smell the smoke.

"Holy crap..." Standing at an observation point with binoculars in hand, Sideline Slacking looked southward and grinned. "Looks like the Enterprise boys are about to get their faces slapped."

Spring Water Commander merely smiled. "I wouldn't be so sure."

Lowering his binoculars, Sideline Slacking looked at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

Spring Water Commander replied, "If those Mutant Humans were really that easy to deal with, they wouldn't have stalled the Enterprise for three whole days. Honestly, against enemies whose heads can explode without killing them, plus all those technologies nobody's ever seen before, any army would have a hard time."

"Especially with all that rock overhead. We don't even know how many enemies are hiding inside."

Make Me had tried infiltrating the mountain to gather intelligence. Unfortunately, the rat was a little too fat. The green-skinned brutes couldn't spot him. The goblins, however, viewed him as a walking meal.

After dying three times without successfully entering the tunnels, he finally abandoned the effort and started looking for other solutions.

The New Alliance wasn't the only one experimenting. The Enterprise had tried every trick imaginable. They even sent special forces cyborgs equipped with optical camouflage into the tunnels to scout.

To everyone's surprise, that infiltration team ran straight into an EMP ambush. After briefly freezing in place, they were beaten into scrap metal. Subsequent attempts using beetle-sized reconnaissance drones met equally miserable ends.

Those details weren't shared publicly within the coalition, but intelligence between New Alliance and Enterprise military systems was fully shared. In short, the Enterprise had already tried everything they could think of. Yet the enemy always seemed prepared, countering every move perfectly.

When tricks failed, Enterprise was forced to fall back on the traditional formula. They fired artillery first and sent their infantry right after.

Yet despite saturating the mountain with every support weapon available and shelling it countless times, they still couldn't wrest control of the position from the green-skinned defenders.

Spring Water Commander estimated that the Wislanders would suffer the same fate.

They were certainly capable soldiers. But they always made the same mistake. They underestimated others and overestimated themselves.
