Chapter 1749: Chapter 1596: Otherworld Entertainment Tycoon 26

The popcorn on the waiter’s tray was quickly sold off almost completely. Now and then someone complained it was expensive, and the waiter would patiently explain, "Dear guests, the popcorn in our cinema is specially made.

There’s a unique kind of butter inside the popcorn, so it tastes different from the regular popcorn outside that only has a bit of sugar. Two copper coins really isn’t pricey—once you try it, you’ll know. Totally worth the money."

A customer wasn’t convinced. "Seriously? You’re bragging so hard, I’ve gotta try it and see if it’s really that good."

He said that and tossed a few freshly bought pieces of popcorn into his mouth. Soon an astonished voice rang out, "Damn, this popcorn really is different from the stuff outside. It’s crazy good! The flavor is insane—give me two more buckets, this little bit isn’t nearly enough."

With the first person singing its praises, the others who’d bought popcorn all started eating too, and voices calling it delicious rose one after another. As soon as they said it was good, the people nearby who hadn’t bought any instantly got tempted.

Even those who originally didn’t want to waste two copper coins all took out their money, and once they tried it they realized this really wasn’t wasted at all. Popcorn this good was definitely worth the price.

Wu Qiaoxuan also bought two buckets of popcorn and set them on the armrest between her and Wu Ziyi. When Jian Shuangshuang designed the seats, she added a narrow wooden strip at the connecting armrests of each pair of chairs.

That way, this spot became a mini little table, just right for placing cups and snacks, so people could eat while watching the movie instead of awkwardly holding everything in their hands.

Also, on the lower part of the back of every front-row seat there was a flat rectangular trash box for people to throw away their trash, so they wouldn’t have to toss it on the floor.

Wu Ziyi originally didn’t want to eat anything. His personality was a bit finicky—he didn’t like crowded places, and he never ate outside food, always feeling it wasn’t clean and not as good as what the chef at home made.

Wu Qiaoxuan was different. Even though she was a girl, her personality was carefree and not so fussy. She grabbed the popcorn and just started stuffing it into her mouth.

The popcorn tasted sweet and fragrant with a milky note, sweet but not cloying. The kernels were popped just right—crisp and crumbly with one bite, and with a light press of the tongue they almost melted in her mouth. It was unbelievably good.

No wonder everyone around them was crunching away, unable to stop. With the intent to share, Wu Qiaoxuan grabbed two pieces of popcorn and shoved them into her brother Wu Ziyi’s mouth.

"Bro, try this popcorn. It’s seriously amazing. Our family chef definitely can’t make this flavor. When we go back I’m totally buying more for Mom to try."

Wu Ziyi suddenly had two kernels of popcorn stuffed into his mouth and his brows nearly twisted into a knot. Spitting it out would be way too rude; swallowing it made him uncomfortable. For a moment his whole body went stiff.

Wu Ziyi held the two pieces of popcorn between his lips, hesitating for quite a while. In the end he still couldn’t bring himself to do something as impolite as spit food out of his mouth.

Finally, Wu Ziyi decided he’d just endure it and swallow them, but he absolutely couldn’t let that crazy girl Wu Qiaoxuan shove anything else in there a second time.

Thinking this, Wu Ziyi reluctantly rolled the popcorn into his mouth. The tip of his tongue touched the two sweet, fragrant kernels, and a wonderful flavor instantly burst across his taste buds.

His chewing paused for a moment, then he bit a few times and swallowed the popcorn. His eyes stared straight ahead, his expression solemnly serious, but his hand rested on the armrest beside him.

Out of the corner of his eye he watched Wu Qiaoxuan, who was fully focused on her own bucket of popcorn. He lifted his hand and, from his own bucket, casually picked up two pieces of popcorn and stuffed them into his mouth as if nothing had happened.

Over there, Wu Qiaoxuan ate her popcorn while looking expectantly at the huge white wall in front—they’d be showing the movie there in a while.

Beside the white wall was a glittering hourglass. When all the sand inside trickled down, that would mark the official start of the movie. From the look of it, there was still some time before it began.

By the entrance, people were still coming in in twos and threes. Every so often someone took a seat, then bought popcorn to munch on as they killed time waiting for the movie to start.

Wu Qiaoxuan glanced around for a bit, then reached out for her popcorn, only to find her bucket was already empty. She didn’t think much of it, just grabbed Wu Ziyi’s popcorn bucket and started eating.

Wu Qiaoxuan knew her brother never liked eating outside food. Getting forced to eat those two pieces of popcorn just now was probably his limit. If she kept pushing him to eat, he might really get mad.

But just as she thought that, she noticed something was off about the popcorn in her hand. She lowered her head to take a look, and sure enough—the once full bucket of popcorn now only had about half left.

Wu Qiaoxuan was stunned. Her super finicky brother had eaten this!? She turned back and saw Wu Ziyi staring straight ahead, not looking at her, but she just felt like her brother seemed a little embarrassed.

Wu Qiaoxuan pressed her lips together, suppressing the urge to laugh. So her brother didn’t hate outside food for being "dirty"—he hated it for not being tasty enough.

Since the movie hadn’t started yet and the waiters were still walking back and forth, Wu Qiaoxuan waved her hand and ordered four more buckets of popcorn to place beside them, then quietly went back to eating.

On the other side, Wu Ziyi coughed lightly in embarrassment and secretly savored the lingering flavor in his mouth. In the end he decided not to fight with his own taste buds and picked up two more pieces of popcorn, popping them into his mouth.

Even though it was crowded and stuffy here, and kind of boring, the popcorn was so delicious that coming once wasn’t a waste after all.

When they went home he definitely had to get the chef to research how to make popcorn this good.

Right as Wu Ziyi was thinking that, he suddenly realized the only light in the cinema had gone out, and the whole place was plunged into pitch darkness.

Before Wu Ziyi could react, Wu Qiaoxuan beside him excitedly lowered her voice and whispered, "Bro, the movie’s starting."

As her words fell, a blinding white light suddenly flared from the white wall up front. A giant screen rose up, and from a bird’s-eye view high above, a large cluster of ancient-style buildings appeared.

Then the view slowly descended, landing on a huge plaque. On the plaque were three big characters: Nanshan Sect!

The camera zoomed in. Inside, a group of children were lined up practicing swordplay. Their movements looked weak but still somewhat proper.

Looking further in, a young girl with delicate features but bright, restless eyes slipped out of a corner like a thief, backpack on her shoulders, and quickly ran out the main gate.

Once she was out, the girl patted her chest in relief, then tossed the bundle in her arms behind her with a cool flick, swiped a finger across her nose, and looked back at the plaque over the gate.

The girl’s face was lit with a mischievous grin as she declared, "Haha, this young lady has escaped! I’m heading out to explore the world. Dad, Second Uncle, Mom, I’m off first—don’t miss me too much."

With that, the girl skipped away, shouting at the top of her lungs, "World, here I come!"
