Chapter 2458: Chapter 2361: Will He Be Sentenced?

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Saiji suddenly looked up, somewhat puzzled and confused at Huo Sining:

"What do you mean by being possessed?"

Huo Sining smiled and said, "I don’t know if this so-called Longevity Jue can turn someone into a celestial being, but Ge Hong certainly didn’t make it. He thought he could ascend and created a tomb with various arrays to store his body, but at the last moment, he didn’t become immortal and practically made his own grave."

"Weren’t you asking why I returned? It involves the matter between Qibao and me earlier. Qibao and I saved you, letting Fujiwara Seiho get drained by the array and die."

"Then I took you and Qibao and withdrew, leaving Fujiwara Seiho in the pool without concern."

"The following day, when our archaeological team opened the main tomb chamber, we found Fujiwara Seiho’s dried corpse in the stone coffin, but Ge Hong’s remains were gone."

"We thought it was haunted at first, but when we opened the burial pit later, something happened. An archaeological team member found an Ebony Wooden Miniature Coffin in the burial items and became possessed by a malevolent spirit. Had Bai Buzhi the Taoist not been present, we all would have been unlucky."

"That ghost thing possessed an archaeological team member and fought fiercely with Bai Buzhi. Bai Buzhi almost got hurt. I used the Heavenly Bead given by Yan Feng to shield him, the bead cracked, and the ghost couldn’t benefit, and eventually escaped amid chaos."

Saiji’s eyes brightened upon hearing this: "So you mean that the evil spirit is Ge Hong? But how can this be? If this guy hadn’t died, it’s been over a thousand years now, how is it possible that he..."

Saiji wanted to describe how Ge Hong’s soul still roamed the world but couldn’t find the right words, opened his mouth but didn’t speak.

Huo Sining already understood his meaning and laughed: "You want to say why hasn’t his soul scattered, right?"

Saiji nodded: "Yes, that’s what I mean."

Huo Sining shrugged: "Based on your experiences, you should be somewhat familiar with Ge Hong. This person wasn’t even afraid of your Sea Demon’s Enchanting Melody and could catch both you and your sibling. He even set up several powerful arrays; evidently, he possesses some skills."

"Even if that Longevity Jue couldn’t make him immortal, with all the tricks he learned, he still found himself a way out at the crucial moment."

"His soul was trapped in that Ebony Wooden Miniature Coffin, just waiting for a chance. Heaven helped him by matching his eight-character attributes with the first archaeological team member who touched the coffin, allowing him to possess effortlessly."

"Though it’s said that he’s fortunate, I think he’s unlucky too, because he encountered Bai Buzhi and me right after possessing, and I happened to have a Heavenly Bead Magic Artifact."

"Had he acted inconspicuously after possessing and fled while we weren’t watching, he might have gotten a chance to breathe, but he tried to harm us and unfortunately ended up in our hands."

"Such a harmful person can’t be spared; we must seize the chance to eliminate him."

Yue Shuwen, somewhat perplexed, frowned and asked: "Logically, such a person should be very clever. Since he has possessed someone, why not think of escaping, why provoke people?"

Saiji then laughed: "Seems you don’t really understand what possession is about. Possession and resurrection by borrowing a body are the same, both are extremely draining."

"Even if Ge Hong’s soul and the team member’s body were perfectly matched, as long as the body hasn’t died, he must suppress the original soul to occupy it."

"During this suppression, his cultivation would greatly diminish, and he might get repelled by the body."

"In such a case, his soul is extremely fragile, so he must quickly find ways to enhance his power. The only way is to consume human essence and blood for quick cultivation growth."

"Therefore, after possessing, discovering other people in the tomb, he instinctively attacked them."

Huo Sining nodded in agreement with Saiji’s viewpoint: "Indeed, he was sealed in that miniature coffin, like being imprisoned, unaware of external changes. So upon successfully possessing, he failed to understand the situation; otherwise, he’d be more cautious."

"Luckily, he was recklessly aggressive; otherwise, if that person escaped, it’d be terrible. If given a chance to breathe, he’d soon commit crimes outside, finding ways to kill and consume essence and blood for soul-body restoration. Once his cultivation improves, he’d be hard to deal with."

Yue Shuwen was still somewhat confused: "But didn’t he still escape amid chaos? You didn’t capture him, so he can still go out and kill people."

Huo Sining couldn’t help laughing: "You forgot what I said before, that guy got a talisman paper from old Bai Buzhi pasted on his head, and then injured by my Heavenly Bead Magic Artifact. Managing to escape the tomb is credit to his skills!"

"He’s now so weak it’s hard for him to kill an ant, let alone a person. He can’t recover even a tenth of his cultivation in the short term. Even after successful possession, he’s no better than a dying person."

"But the police have already filed a case and started investigating. Will they give him a chance to breathe? He doesn’t understand modern societal rules; it’s likely he’d be confused even if he managed to get out."

"Now, with Heavenly Eye surveillance everywhere on the main roads, once he shows up, he’ll surely be caught, unless he hides in the mountains without coming out, but what would he eat or drink, so no worries, he can’t escape!"

Upon hearing Huo Sining, Yue Shuwen immediately understood, but then she thought of another matter:

"Ge Hong possessed that archaeological team member’s body, so does he count as Ge Hong or your archaeological colleague now? If caught, under what charges would he be arrested, and would be sentenced?"

"This..."

This question truly left Huo Sining confused, hearing Yue Shuwen ask so suddenly, she really didn’t know how to answer.
