Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2490 - 2393: Hit the Jackpot

Chapter 2490: Chapter 2393: Hit the Jackpot

"But that’s not the main point. The real point is her other identities. She’s the granddaughter-in-law of the Gu Family in the capital and the closed-door disciple of Zhou Shitao, a leading figure in the antique world. Last year, she led the national treasure appraisal team to New York for a competition and won the championship."

"Earlier, Huo Sining auctioned two of the twelve zodiac animal heads in Philadelphia and brought them back, causing a huge sensation."

"During the Qingya earthquake, Huo Sining even donated tens of billions nakedly."

After hearing what Fan Yueran said, Du Wenfeng sat up straight, utterly dumbfounded.

"Tens of billions? Where did she get so much money?"

Fan Yueran was indeed a fan of Huo Sining, so she was quite informed about her. Upon hearing Du Wenfeng ask this, she instinctively explained:

"This Miss Huo has quite a few identities. She made her fortune through stone gambling and treasure appraisal. She once participated in stone gambling in Ruili, Yun Province, and cut out a block of imperial green and a Jade Heaven Bead."

"Those tens of billions came from selling off fifty percent of the shares in a jade mine in Myanmar."

"That Myanmar jade mine was gambled together with General Badasang from Myanmar. It’s said to be a large jade mine that, if fully exploited, would be worth billions of US Dollars."

"But since the Qingya earthquake happened so suddenly, to raise money, Huo Sining directly sold her shares in the jade mine."

Now, Du Wenfeng was completely speechless. He had realized that he might have really misunderstood something; this Huo Sining was definitely not just a simple actress.

He suddenly jumped up from his seat, no longer as careless as before, and quickly pulled out his phone to make a call.

"Old Gao, I need to inquire about someone."

The person on the other end sounded a bit surprised: "Inquiring about someone? We’re in a regular meeting right now. Where are you? Why haven’t you shown up?"

Du Wenfeng’s lips curled into a bitter smile: "I seem to have misunderstood something. I’m coming to you to make up for it. I was planning to attend a provincial meeting this morning, but Governor Wu called, asking me to receive someone in Luohua County, saying it’s a big celebrity, so I didn’t think too much and came to Luohua County with my secretary."

The person on the other end also seemed surprised but, perhaps due to the meeting, didn’t continue speaking. Instead, he said, "Hold on, let me step out and talk to you."

After a rustling sound, it quieted down a minute later, and the voice of the man named Gao became clear:

"Governor Wu asked you to come? That’s unusual. He’s always been upright, never using his power for personal gains. Why would he ask you to do such a thing out of nowhere?"

Du Wenfeng said awkwardly, "I thought she was a relative of Governor Wu, so I didn’t give it much thought. But just now, on the way, my secretary told me this big celebrity is someone significant, so I’m coming to ask you about it."

The person seemed puzzled and couldn’t grasp it, asking instinctively:

"Significant, isn’t she just a celebrity? Does it need to be so exaggerated? Haven’t we seen enough celebrities? What’s the name of this celebrity? Let me find out for you."

Du Wenfeng replied, "Her name is Huo Sining."

"Holy shit!"

Upon hearing the name, the person on the other end lost grip of his phone, and it fell to the ground. Du Wenfeng could hear the cursing clearly, frowning immediately, wondering what’s going on; does it need to be so exaggerated?

In the next second, the person on the other side picked up the phone and yelled into it at Du Wenfeng:

"Damn you, Du, are you showing off on purpose? I was worried that old Wu might set you up, fearing you’d blindly jump into it. But now it seems you’re showing off!"

Du Wenfeng was left bewildered by the words: "What do you mean? How am I showing off?"

The person on the other side was about to lose it: "Do you really not know, or are you pretending? Damn, you hit the jackpot. Why would old Wu entrust such a big matter to you?"

"I’m telling you, as long as you serve that individual well, your transfer to the province is as good as done, understand? You’ve hit the jackpot!"

Du Wenfeng was immediately taken aback: "Huh?"

"What ’huh’? Dammit, I want to strangle you. Do you know who this Huo Sining is?"

Du Wenfeng instinctively replied: "Wasn’t it just mentioned? A big celebrity. That’s what old Wu told me. She apparently married into the Gu Family in the capital, and seems to be quite wealthy."

The person on the other end was about to explode: "I really don’t know how you made it to being a secretary. Don’t you follow the news? This woman has been on national news and was personally received by the head of state. Do you understand what that means?"

"A big celebrity, you must have lost your mind. Which domestic celebrity can compare with her? Let me give you some insider info, though I don’t know if it’s true. But when there’s smoke, there’s fire; there must be some basis for it."

"I heard this Huo Sining is the head of state’s god-granddaughter—a real god-granddaughter. What kind of status is that? Let’s not even talk about you, even if old Wu went to meet her in person, it’d be justified. But it’s probably because that individual wants to keep it low-profile to avoid a big fuss, hence why you were sent."

"This is royalty and family. If you serve her well, isn’t a minor promotion a small thing? This is your opportunity, do you understand?"

Du Wenfeng was already bewildered. Bomb after bomb from Gao had completely stunned him, leaving him somewhat unresponsive, only instinctively asking back:

"Are you serious? You’re not pulling my leg, are you?"

The person on the other side was truly outraged: "Why would I pull your leg? What would I gain from that? Damn, I’m furious. Why would old Wu send someone as clueless as you for such an important matter, and not call me up?"

Soon after, the person on the other end, filled with resentment, abruptly hung up the phone.

Listening to the beeping from the other side, Du Wenfeng regained a bit of his senses, sitting up straight and looking seriously at Secretary Fan beside him:

"Just now, you mentioned that Miss Huo... where is she?"

The car was quiet, so the conversation on the phone during Du Wenfeng’s call still drifted to Fan Yueran’s ears intermittently. She caught the words "head of state’s god-granddaughter" very clearly, so this secretary was also a bit dumbfounded. Hearing Du Wenfeng’s question, she responded a little late.

"Uh? In... in Xiakan Village, Luohua County."
