"But when we were halfway there, Bureau Chief Ye said Secretary Du and Bureau Chief Tan had gotten the news and were heading to the river, telling us not to rush and wait for Secretary Du."

"We didn’t know the situation at all, thinking that Secretary Du and Bureau Chief Tan, coming from the city, would take over an hour to arrive. So we drove around the county before coming."

"You really can’t blame us for this. Bureau Chief Ye instructed us, and when we tried calling him, he didn’t pick up. We still have no idea what’s going on."

After the officers finished, Tan Minghui and Xu Zehua’s faces darkened completely.

"What are you saying, Ye Yuhai told you to wait for Secretary Du before responding? Is he out of his mind, not knowing that in a riot, the quicker the response, the better to control the situation when it’s small?"

Xu Zehua almost chuckled in anger, finally realizing what was wrong:

"What, a woman with a gun causing injury? Where did he hear that from, and why did our directive say a group of thugs were attacking the big star Huo Sining, yet he turned it into a woman with a gun causing injury?"

Not all these officers were loyal to Ye Yuhai; some were Xu Zehua’s confidants. One of them quickly whispered a reminder:

"Deputy Director Xu, I saw earlier that Boss De was also arrested. The relationship between Bureau Chief Ye and Boss De is not usual. You think perhaps..."

The officer’s words were discreet, but Tan Minghui wasn’t foolish. Learning that earlier arrested Lei De actually had an unusual relationship with Ye Yuhai, he instantly connected the dots and squinted his eyes.

What side is Ye Yuhai’s allegiance really on?

Xu Zehua’s face turned ashen, and he immediately took out his phone to call Ye Yuhai.

But he clearly underestimated the city bureau SWAT team’s resolve. Since they’re here to clear the scene, and with direct orders from Du Wenfeng and Tan Minghui, there couldn’t be any escapees.

So, the vehicles parked in the lot couldn’t go unchecked.

Thus, Ye Yuhai couldn’t remain hidden in his car for long; within a few minutes, SWAT officers dragged him out.

"Ye Yuhai, why are you hiding in your car?! When did you arrive?!"

Seeing SWAT drag Ye Yuhai out, Xu Zehua was furious, unable to hold back his shout.

Over there, Lei De, who had already lost hope after being put into the police car, suddenly brightened at the sight of Ye Yuhai, clinging to him like the last straw and shouted:
