Chapter 2509: Chapter 2411: The Winds of Change
Tan Minghui swore and hit, still not feeling satisfied. He turned his head and saw a belt hanging on a nearby chair, not knowing whose it was. Without thinking, he grabbed it and fiercely whipped it at Ye Yuhai:
"Damn it, you mingle with those thugs! If you’re so capable, why don’t you just join the underworld directly? You’re so good, why be a cop?"
The few on-duty officers were already stunned, especially seeing Bureau Chief Tan losing his temper and hitting people while their Director Xu Zehua just watched, without stopping him.
The remaining colleagues were watching with cold indifference, as if watching a play. No one spoke, but their eyes clearly showed that Ye Yuhai deserved it!
What was happening? Wasn’t it just a trip to Xiakan Village? Why did coming back, the whole scenario change completely? The city director arrived, cuffed their deputy director, and started a brawl. This isn’t right.
The officers exchanged glances, flashes of confusion and gossip in their eyes, regretting not being there:
Looks like missing out on the Xiakan Village trip meant missing a major show.
While everyone silently watched the farce unfold with different thoughts, a few more people entered from outside.
The on-duty officers looked up and were instantly startled to the point of standing up.
The newcomers weren’t anybody else but Du Wenfeng, Fan Yueran, and the instructor from the city’s armed police squad.
Though normally, these officers rarely saw Du Wenfeng or the instructor, during important work meetings and video lectures they did.
So, they naturally recognized Du Wenfeng and the others.
However, the unfolding scenario left them increasingly baffled.
It’s one thing for Bureau Chief Tan to be here in Luohua County, but why are Secretary Du and Instructor Liu here too? Has something major happened?
Du Wenfeng was internally burning too; Huo Sining gave him some reassurance, but Governor Wu hadn’t been briefed yet. Reporting back, who knows if he’d lose his temper.
If he does, Du Wenfeng would be the first to bear the brunt of Governor Wu’s anger.
So, Du Wenfeng wasn’t fond of Ye Yuhai and watched Tan Minghui beat him with pleasure, almost clapping in approval.
He let Tan Minghui beat him up soundly until Ye Yuhai was thoroughly battered before intervening:
"Enough, that’s enough. Take him to the interrogation room and figure out the story clearly."
Tan Minghui’s expression turned serious; he recalled there was real business to attend to. He quickly retracted his kicking foot, grabbed the limp Ye Yuhai, and started to the interrogation room.
But after a few steps, Du Wenfeng seemed to remember something and called Tan Minghui:
"Wait!"
Du Wenfeng’s gaze scanned the faces of the unimpressive officers, then he looked at Tan Minghui with emphasis:
"We need to quickly investigate the murder case against Lei De, see if Ye Yuhai was involved, and find out what role he played. Anyone involved must be thoroughly investigated. Don’t leave anyone with issues out; report them all!"
Upon hearing this, Tan Minghui’s heart clenched, and he immediately understood Du Wenfeng’s intent.
Lei De had been rampant in Luohua County for years clearly due to Ye Yuhai’s protection, but there must have been others assisting.
Some might have sheltered or aided Lei De out of fear or favor for Ye Yuhai, but no matter the reason, they were accomplices aiding evil.
Du Wenfeng meant to perform a comprehensive purge of Luohua County’s police force; anyone with ties to Ye Yuhai or Lei De must be dealt with, leaving none unpunished!
This signaled a major upheaval; Tan Minghui sighed inwardly, but understood Du Wenfeng’s rationale.
Given such events, Miss Huo would not let this slide easily; without a satisfactory resolution, she’d definitely confront them.
If provoked to anger, it wouldn’t just mean rectifying Luohua County’s atmosphere. It might impact the whole city or even the province.
Du Wenfeng had much work ahead, leaving interrogations to Tan Minghui and Instructor Liu to oversee. But upon returning to the city, he immediately coordinated something important.
That afternoon, a secret memo arrived from the city, initiating a rapid anti-crime operation throughout the county.
However, back to Xiakan Village, back to the tea garden, the dramatic events of the morning left lingering unease. But as personnel dispersed and the entrance to the garden stood empty, everything returned to its original tranquility.
The gatekeeper, who once looked down on Wu Jun, Huo Sining, and Huo Si, sat back in the guard room. But recalling past events left him dazed still.
The rapid changes were simply too much to process.
Previously, a seemingly inconspicuous girl, like a little wife, pulled out a gun, fired at people, remained calm, injuring a person like it was no big deal.
That was enough, but then she brought both the city secretary and the city bureau director.
More astonishing was how they, nearly divine figures to the gatekeeper, bowed and scraped before the gun-wielding girl, repeatedly calling her "Chief." Such sighting almost made his jaw drop.
God, who was that girl, that even the city secretary feared her!
Recalling his past offensive words, unsure if he had slighted the girl, the gatekeeper’s face turned pale, fretting with mounting anxiety.
But one thing was clear; with Boss De’s downfall certain after today’s events, Luohua County was bound for major change starting today.
