Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2522 - 2424: The Answer Revealed

Chapter 2522: Chapter 2424: The Answer Revealed

Everyone looked at each other, all feeling pretty damn stunned.

They all knew him—doesn’t that mean this guy is from the village? But when did their village ever have such a badass around, someone who can call in city SWAT and big leaders? That’s not something just anyone can pull off! If there really was such a person, how come they’ve never heard of him?

Everyone immediately turned suspicious eyes on Chen Sigong, then all together looked over at Uncle Ding, hoping to get a different answer out of him.

But what surprised everyone was that this time Uncle Ding actually nodded again, agreeing with what Chen Sigong had said.

Now, shock showed up on everyone’s faces.

So it’s true, this person really is from their Xiakan Village!? Then who the hell is he?!

Everyone had been completely hooked by Chen Sigong and were all waiting for him to reveal the mystery.

"Hurry up and say it, hurry, who is this guy?"

Not just the villagers—even Liu Chunhua and Wu Kai in the yard were drawn in at this point. Both of them pricked up their ears in unison, wanting to hear who this person actually was.

Nobody noticed that while Chen Sigong was teasing the villagers and keeping them in suspense, the faces of the Wu Jun siblings had already started to look off.

Especially Wu Jun, whose expression was awkward, clearly feeling very uncomfortable.

Wu Ya, on the other hand, was over there fighting to hold back her laughter, and kept secretly turning her head to look at the jeep parked at the gate, winking like crazy at Huo Sining in the passenger seat.

Chen Sigong cleared his throat twice, then raised his voice: "This person is—cough, cough, damn, my craving’s hitting me. Who can give me a cigarette first?"

Everyone was waiting for him to finally spill the name, and just when no one expected it, halfway through, the guy suddenly veered off and stuck out his hand asking for a smoke.

The hearts they’d been holding up all dropped right back down. Someone already started cursing:

"Chen Si, you wanna die or what? Halfway through you string us along till we’re dying of curiosity, and now you’re asking for a cigarette? Would saying his name kill you?!"

Even though everyone was looking properly pissed, seeing that rascal look on Chen Si’s face, it was obvious he wouldn’t say a damn thing without a cigarette. The crowd felt helpless; pretty soon a man fished a cigarette out of his pocket and handed one to Chen Si, even leaning in to light it for him.

Chen Si took a hard drag, finally feeling comfortable all over. He narrowed his eyes and grinned:

"You all know this guy, he’s even kin to this Second Wu Family. Remember that Wu Family that got wiped out? The broken-down house at the end of the village, that one. Their eldest boy, the one who was a soldier—Jun Zi."

"That kid, he came back this morning with his little sister. They went to Boss De’s tea plantation, probably looking for his parents’ graves. But you all know what happened with that tea plantation—over the past few years, how the hell are you supposed to find the Wu Family’s tombs anymore?"

"When that kid saw his parents’ graves were gone, he grabbed a hoe and started digging up the tea trees in the plantation. He’d barely dug out a few when the security team showed up. That kid alone took out five or six guards, beat that security captain so bad the guy didn’t even dare fart."

"We figured things were about to turn ugly and didn’t dare hang around in that tea plantation, so me and Old Ding hurried off and hid."

"We didn’t see what happened afterward and can’t figure out how that Wu Family kid managed to get the city leaders to come down. But if you’re saying the ones who took Boss De away were called in by the guy who stirred up trouble in the tea plantation today, then that person, it’s gotta be that Wu Family boy, no doubt about it."

Hearing this, everyone was stunned. Their mouths fell open in that weird way, and they all turned around by reflex to look at the Wu Family Siblings standing in the yard.

Chen Si took a few more drags, savoring it and waiting for the villagers’ reaction, but what he didn’t expect was that after four or five seconds, he still hadn’t heard a sound.

He found it strange, and reflexively opened his eyes to see what was going on.

He hadn’t expected that the moment he opened his eyes and looked ahead, he’d get one hell of a fright. The smoke he’d just inhaled slipped the wrong way and shot straight down his windpipe, making him choke so hard his eyes nearly watered. He didn’t even care that the half-smoked cigarette fell to the ground; he just coughed and hacked while staring toward the open gate of the Second Wu Family’s yard.

Sure enough, in just those few seconds, the villagers had automatically cleared a path. So when Chen Si looked up, he could see straight into the Second Wu Family’s yard and the people standing there.

Including Wu Jun and Wu Ya, both looking at him with those half-smiling, half-not expressions.

Chen Si coughed and fumbled, utterly mortified. His face flushed the color of pig liver, and he wished he could dig a hole and crawl in.

He’d still been putting on airs, trying to brag and show off in front of the villagers, and who would’ve thought that while he was talking behind someone’s back, the main character would be standing less than ten meters away.

Now that was seriously embarrassing.

All around, it was dead quiet, the atmosphere weird beyond words.

The villagers were looking at Wu Jun like they were watching some Western Ocean spectacle, as if they wanted to find a flower blooming on him.

Nobody had thought that the fierce guy who sent Boss De to prison would turn out to be Jun Zi from the Big Wu Family. The kid hadn’t been back in years, and there’d been all kinds of rumors in the village.

Some said he was drifting around outside, some said he was doing hard labor somewhere, others said he’d offended someone and already died out there—every kind of guess you could imagine.

But no one imagined that after a few years gone, this kid would make an entrance like this.

In just one morning, he’d brought in city leaders; even the municipal Party secretary and the Public Security Bureau director had come. And he’d effortlessly taken down Luohua County’s local tyrant, Lei De.

With that kind of maneuvering, that kind of ability, what ordinary person could pull it off?

Right now, everyone’s mind held only one thought:

That kid from the Big Wu Family has made it. Now the Big Wu Family is really gonna stage a comeback!

But as soon as they thought of Doctor Wu and his wife, who’d been killed without warning in their sleep, everyone couldn’t help letting out a long sigh in their hearts. So what if they’d staged a comeback, so what if they’d made it? They’re gone. Doctor Wu and his wife aren’t around to enjoy their son’s good fortune.

Of course, there were also quick thinkers who, realizing this Wu Family kid could get in with the city leaders, immediately decided they needed to cozy up to Wu Jun and build some ties.

Plenty of people were having those thoughts. In their eyes, if Wu Jun could talk directly to people in the city, he must be very capable. Just asking him to help them or their children find a post in the county or the city wouldn’t be any big deal.
