Chapter 2528: Chapter 2430: Unexpected Visitor
Wu Jun and his group had originally planned to stay in town for another couple of days, waiting for news from Du Wenfeng. But unexpectedly, the first to arrive wasn’t Du Wenfeng, but another unforeseen visitor.
After dinner, Huo Sining and the others were bored, so they called the hotel owner down and started a game of poker. But before they played a few rounds, two people emerged outside the hotel, wandering around but reluctant to enter.
Huo Sining and the group noticed them but didn’t think much, assuming they were looking for the hotel owner, and gestured at him to go out and check.
The owner was puzzled as well and went outside, only to discover an old man and a young man in his twenties squatting at the hotel’s side entrance.
The owner immediately found it peculiar, considering the significant people residing at his place currently, he couldn’t help but become a bit cautious, subconsciously asking:
"Who are you looking for?"
The old man and the young man, startled by the voice behind them, jumped up. The young man appeared flustered and uneasy, while the old man’s face flushed red, unable to lift his head.
Noticing the peculiar behavior of these two, the owner grew more alert, casting suspicious eyes over the two, trying to discern their motives.
The old man opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to say something, but hesitated. The young man, seeing this, tugged the old man aside and said boldly:
"Oh, if you don’t ask, then I will!"
The young man stepped in front of the owner, nervously asking:
"We’ve been asking around along the way. The town received two women and one man among today’s newcomers. Are they staying here?"
Indeed, these two were seeking Miss Huo and her companions. The hotel owner frowned; he was aware of the incident at the Xiakan Village Tea Garden today and recognized that though Miss Huo appeared calm and confident, until everything was resolved, he couldn’t help worrying about potential issues.
Now seeing these two directly at the hotel, he worried they might trouble Huo Sining and the others. So, when he lied, he did so flawlessly, intending to send them away:
"I’ve seen no strangers. You must have the wrong place."
However, these two had confirmed Huo Sining and her group were indeed lodged there. The hotel owner couldn’t deceive them, and the young man said:
"Don’t lie to us. We know they’re here. Don’t worry, we’re not here to cause trouble; we’re looking for Wu Jun, the man."
"Owner, could you inform them that Liao Agong from Xiakan Village wants to see him? If he comes out upon hearing the name, we’ll wait outside. If he doesn’t want to meet, you can tell us, and we’ll leave immediately without pestering."
The owner suspected the young man might be playing some trick, but seeing his earnest expression, he felt the man wasn’t here to cause trouble.
Hesitating a moment, he nodded: "Alright, you wait here."
Then, the owner went back inside, crossed the bar, and entered the small lounge. Huo Sining and Wu Jun were still holding cards. Seeing the owner enter, they curiously asked:
"Who is it, a guest?"
The owner shook his head: "It’s an old man and a young guy, named Liao Agong, here to see you."
Wu Jun froze, reflexively questioning: "Liao Agong? Looking for me? How did he find me here?"
Wu Jun frowned, exchanged a glance with his sister Yaya, who was engrossed in watching the cards, both finding Liao Agong’s sudden visit strange.
In fact, after the day’s scene at the tea garden, Wu Jun had anticipated that folks from the village would seek to cozy up with him upon hearing of his successful adventures.
Yet, Wu Jun hadn’t expected the first to show up would be Liao Agong, not Wu Kai’s family.
But considering Liao Agong’s longstanding friendship with his father and the help he’d extended in rescuing his sister from Liu Chunhua’s clutches, regardless of his reason for visiting, Wu Jun felt obliged to see him.
Thus, without hesitating, he stood up and walked outside.
Wu Ya saw this and hurriedly followed.
The siblings opened the hotel’s door and found two people outside braving the cold, it was indeed Liao Agong and his son Liao Hong.
Seeing Wu Jun emerge, Liao Hong’s dark expression eased a bit, while Liao Agong hesitated, unsure of what to say.
It was a cold winter night outside. Wu Jun saw their demeanor and knew they had something to discuss, so he hurried them inside:
"It’s too cold outside, Uncle Liao. Let’s discuss inside."
"This..." Liao Agong looked embarrassed, unsure of how to proceed.
His son Liao Hong wordlessly bypassed Wu Jun, drawing open the hotel door and entering. Seeing his son go inside, Liao Agong had no choice but to follow.
Inside, Wu Jun led them to his room, and by that time, Huo Sining had already fetched tea leaves and cups from the hotel owner, courteously serving the visitors hot tea.
The faces of the two were glowing red from the cold, clearly showing they had been outside for a while. As they received the steaming tea from Huo Sining, they shivered uncontrollably.
After warming themselves with tea and their faces returned to normalcy, Wu Jun asked:
"Uncle Liao, what brings you here?"
Liao Agong instinctively glanced at his son, but Liao Hong was more straightforward, speaking to his father:
"What’s there to be coy about? If you’re hesitant, then I’ll speak!"
Liao Hong raised his head, eyes fixed on Wu Jun:
"I returned this evening and immediately heard neighbors discussing your big act at the tea garden today, dealing with Lei De! Is this true?"
