Cultivating as a Puppet Master

Chapter 111 - 110: Killing Qian Yuan

Chapter 111: Chapter 110: Killing Qian Yuan

His only answer was the bone-chilling cold in Lu Zhao’s eyes and the Life-taking Water Blade poised above the Hundred Waters Magic Disc—a deep blue blade condensed from what looked like the waters of an abyss, ready to strike.

The hope on Qian Yuan’s face froze, then was drowned by boundless venom and madness.

"Fine! Fine! So you won’t let me live, is that it?!" The pleading vanished from his face, replaced by utter insanity. His eyes turned blood-red as if possessed. "Then I’ll drag you to hell with me!"

Before his voice had faded, he viciously slammed the Jade Scroll he’d used as bait onto the ground. His other hand shot like lightning toward another bulging Storage Bag at his waist—from the gap at its opening, a heart-stopping, dark red, malevolent light was already visible!

The very instant Qian Yuan shattered the Jade Scroll, his fingertips barely brushing the dangerous Storage Bag, a warning exploded in Lu Zhao’s mind like a clap of thunder! Without hesitation, he aborted the Thousand-Layered Wave Skill he was charging. His hand seals changed in a flash, and the Little Spirit Rain Technique within him surged to its absolute limit! "Ice Cone Technique! Seven in a row!"

The Ice Cone Technique was the Magic he could cast with the greatest skill and speed!

As he shouted, a cold light flashed from Lu Zhao’s fingertips! Seven crystalline blue Ice Cones, each about a foot long, tore through the air, wrapped in a bone-chilling current. They let out a sharp, terrifying shriek, like seven soul-reaping bolts of cold lightning from the Nine Netherworld. Moving far faster than Qian Yuan could react, they crossed the short distance between them in an instant!

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

Seven dull thuds of something sharp piercing flesh rang out, almost overlapping into a single sound.

Qian Yuan’s hand had barely touched the dangerous Storage Bag when his body went rigid. He lowered his head in disbelief and stared at his chest—where seven bloody, fist-sized holes had been blown wide open!

The holes went clean through! A lethal Cold Qi instantly spread from the wounds, freezing his gushing blood and extinguishing his last shred of Vitality. The madness, venom, and defiance in his eyes finally solidified into a dead, blank stare. A meaningless "gurgle... gurgle..." sounded from his throat. His body swayed and then collapsed to the ground like a boneless sack of flesh, his breathing ceasing entirely.

The Tribulation Cultivator Qian Yuan was slain!

As Qian Yuan’s Vitality vanished, the two Zombies entangled with the Puppets suddenly froze. The ghostly green Ghost Fire in their eyes pulsed violently, and then they burst forth with an even more rabid, chaotic, and primal ferocity!

They completely abandoned all combat skill, left with only the instinct to destroy. They began to madly attack any moving target in sight, their strength seemingly enhanced out of thin air. Under their assault, the besieging Puppets were forced to retreat again and again. Amidst heavy "BANG! BANG!" impacts, horrifying cracks and dents were smashed into the thick Back Armor of the Water Spirit Turtle Puppet!

"Hmph!" Lu Zhao snorted, the killing intent in his eyes intensifying. He did not recall his Hundred Waters Magic Disc; instead, his icy gaze locked onto the two rampaging Zombies.

His figure moved like a phantom, cutting into the chaotic fray. The Spirit Light of the Hundred Waters Magic Disc flared, and a stream of exceptionally precise Ice Cones tore through the dense Corpse Qi, aiming straight for the Zombies’ eye sockets, joints, and other vital weaknesses.

At the same time, his mind raced to control the Puppets. The Water Spirit Turtle Puppet let out a low roar as surging Water Light erupted from its body, holding firm against the Zombies’ ferocious frontal assault with mountain-shaking force. Meanwhile, the Ice Wind Wolf Puppets, like two biting white hurricanes wreathed in bone-chilling frost, coordinated with Lu Zhao’s Magic from the flanks and rear, launching vicious attacks with fang and claw.

Under Lu Zhao’s precise tactical command, the tide of battle turned in an instant. Though the uncontrolled Zombies were fearless, their reliance on pure instinct left them riddled with openings.

CRACK! The sickening sound of splintering bone echoed. Lu Zhao directed an Ice Wind Wolf Puppet to seize the opportunity when the Qi Cultivation Seventh Layer Zombie staggered from a powerful blow by the Water Spirit Turtle Puppet. Like a flash of lightning, it lunged forward and shattered the Zombie’s fragile neck joint with a single bite!

The other Zombie, a livid-faced one at the Qi Cultivation Eighth Layer, was even more ferocious. The wind from its swinging arms whistled through the air, barely managing to push back the encircling wolf puppets. But Lu Zhao’s gaze was electric, and he instantly seized the tiny opening as its attack fell short—

SHINK!

A powerful Ice Cone, which he had been charging for some time, transformed into a deadly ray of cold light and shot with perfect accuracy into its empty, twisted eye socket! A deep blue, bone-chilling cold instantly erupted within its rotten skull!

"RAAAGGHH—!" The livid-faced Zombie let out a soul-tearing howl, its frenzied movements freezing in an instant. Then, like a falling mountain, it crashed to the ground. After a few violent convulsions, it fell completely silent. The dense Corpse Qi visibly and rapidly dissipated from its corpse, vanishing into nothing.

A quarter of an hour later, the mountain forest returned to a dead silence. Only the lingering stench of burnt flesh and the biting cold air remained, mingling as they slowly dispersed.

Lu Zhao’s breathing was slightly ragged. His gaze swept over Qian Yuan’s stiff corpse and the shattered remains of the two Zombies. There was no trace of joy on his face; on the contrary, his expression grew even more solemn.

He strode forward, his movements quick and efficient:

First, he carefully wrapped the dangerous Storage Bag from Qian Yuan’s waist with his Spiritual Power and put it away. It was the one bulging as if about to burst, a faint, dark red, bloody light still swirling at its opening.

Next came the pitch-black Beast Hide Bag that had held the Zombies, which now felt inert.

Then, he took Qian Yuan’s own Storage Bag.

Finally, his gaze settled on the ancient, mottled Jade Scroll Qian Yuan had thrown to the ground—the *Blood Shadow Corpse Refining Skill*. He took that as well. After securing the Cultivation Technique, Lu Zhao stuffed Qian Yuan’s body, which had reverted to its original appearance, into a Storage Bag.

Having done all this, he unhesitatingly slapped several Fireball Talismans onto the ground and activated them with a jolt of Magical Power!

FWOOSH! FWOOSH! FWOOSH!

The blazing Fireballs landed precisely on the two Zombie carcasses, which instantly erupted into a raging inferno. The scorching heat distorted the air, and a pungent, acrid stench filled the clearing. The dancing flames cast shifting light and shadows across Lu Zhao’s expressionless face.

Only when every trace of the Zombies had been reduced to two piles of smoldering, blackened ash, leaving nothing but scorched earth, did he indifferently turn and walk to a nearby ancient tree. Under it, Old Wu was leaning against the trunk, gasping for breath. His face was pale as paper, his aura weak.

Lu Zhao said nothing, simply tossing him another ten Lower Grade Spirit Stones.

As the man stammered his thanks, his voice a mixture of awe and gratitude, Lu Zhao’s figure flickered. Like ink bleeding into the night, he vanished after a few faint shimmers into the depths of the dark, gloomy forest, leaving no trace behind.

「One day later.」

Lu Zhao was already more than two hundred li from the Yuan Family’s territory.

Figuring he was now far enough away, Lu Zhao finally decided to take stock of his spoils.

He found a sheltered cave on a secluded mountainside and set up a simple Sound Insulation Restriction at the entrance.

He went deeper inside, took out a Luminous Bead whose soft glow dispelled the darkness, and sat down cross-legged. Before him, six Storage Bags were neatly arranged.

The first three belonged to the unlucky Tribulation Cultivators who had tried to ambush him.

The other three were from Qian Yuan.
