Chapter 323: Chapter 296: A Really, Really Thick Thigh
Romance’s sudden words left the Dogman girl stunned and at a loss.
Her knowledge of the Silver Moon Race was actually very limited.
Her branch of the Dogman Race originally lived on the Frost Ridge Plateau, a great distance from the Eldron Plain, so they knew little of the powers in this land.
She only knew that the Silver Moon Race was the most powerful force in this region, ruling over both the Eldron Plain and the Green Highlands.
She knew that the Fallen Dragon Sword Saint was the Clan Leader of the Silver Moon Race and the true master of this land.
But beyond that, she had no further knowledge of the Silver Moon Race.
As for the young Elf Sister before her...
From the respectful actions of the Elf soldiers and the awestruck gazes of the onlookers, Una vaguely sensed that this person was a big shot.
Becoming the apprentice of such an important person was, without a doubt, an incredible stroke of luck.
So, after a moment’s hesitation, the Dogman girl quickly agreed.
"I am willing."
Romance laughed and reached out to ruffle the Dogman girl’s hair.
"What’s your name?"
"Una."
"Una... A good name." Romance withdrew her hand, smiling at her. "From this day forward, you are my apprentice."
"Yes, Ma... Master!" Una quickly replied, her voice filled with irrepressible joy.
It was only then that she finally noticed the strange atmosphere around her.
Whether it was the Elf soldiers, the surrounding City Guard Army, or the merchants, their gazes were all filled with unconcealed shock and envy.
Even the Elf captain’s eyes held a trace of envy as he looked at her.
A realization suddenly dawned on Una.
’This master of mine... her status might be far greater than I imagined.’
Romance turned to the Elf captain and ordered, "The Cloud-Surging Flying Ship is parked three kilometers away. Take everyone there now. We will board the Flying Ship and return to the Taichu Spirit Realm. There’s no need to enter the city to rest. That includes the Half-Elves and the Slave Hunting Team."
The Cloud-Surging Flying Ship she was traveling on had been modified, sacrificing some of its comfort to enhance its transport capacity.
It could carry several hundred people with room to spare.
"Yes, Lord Romance." The Elf captain immediately turned to rally his subordinates.
At the same time, Una had learned Romance’s true identity from her Clan Leader, and her head was spinning.
A Legendary Powerhouse... Deputy Commander of the Silver Moon Legion...
To her Dogman Race, this was without a doubt an unimaginably high and mighty figure.
And now, she had become Una’s master.
It made Una feel as if a jackpot had just fallen from the sky into her lap, leaving her so pleasantly surprised she was in a daze.
’I’ve just latched onto an incredibly powerful backer.’
"Una."
Romance’s voice pulled Una from her trance.
"Come with me."
"Yes, Master." Una hurriedly followed.
The group turned and departed in a great procession toward the place where the Cloud-Surging Flying Ship was moored.
Only after the procession had completely vanished at the far end of the official road did the crowd at the city gate snap out of their daze, as if waking from a dream.
"That Dogman girl sure got lucky... To actually be taken as an apprentice by Lord Romance?"
"I’m so jealous I could die. Her luck is just too good."
"She’s soared to the heavens in a single step."
Gasps of amazement rose one after another.
The faces of many were filled with envy and jealousy.
The weight of the title "apprentice of a Legendary Powerhouse" was self-evident.
Not to mention, the apprentice of the Deputy Commander of the Silver Moon Legion.
From now on, that Dogman girl’s life would undergo an earth-shattering transformation.
Not far away, Jonah and Field exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness in each other’s eyes.
"This matter... should we report it up the chain?"
"Of course we have to report it. You think we could hide it?"
"...True. The news will probably spread throughout all of Bilin City before tomorrow even comes."
The two of them sighed in unison.
Two minor City Guard Officers like them had absolutely no right to interfere with the actions of Lord Romance.
A single word from her could make them lose their footing in Bilin City.
Forget them—even if the upper echelons of the Bilin Clan arrived, they could only greet Lord Romance with smiles.
"Forget it. Let the higher-ups deal with the headache."
...
After walking west along the official road for three kilometers, the group soon arrived at the mooring place of the Cloud-Surging Flying Ship.
Staring at the behemoth before her, Una’s eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape without her even realizing it.
She had never seen an airship, let alone a flying vehicle like this one that could almost be called a work of art.
"So big..."
Aron, following beside his sister, was also dumbstruck and couldn’t help but murmur under his breath.
Romance chuckled. "This isn’t considered big. The Feiyao Tower is dozens of times larger than the Cloud-Surging Flying Ship."
Hearing this, Una and Aron both wore expressions of disbelief.
’Dozens of times bigger than this?’
They simply couldn’t imagine such a sight.
"Let’s go up."
Romance didn’t explain further, taking the lead up the gangway onto the deck.
Una pulled Aron along behind her, unconsciously treading lightly for fear of damaging such a precious object.
On the deck, several disciples from Taichu City were busy at work. Seeing Romance, they quickly stopped what they were doing and bowed in greeting.
"Lord Romance."
Romance gave a slight nod in acknowledgment and led Una across the deck into the first floor of the ship’s superstructure.
Pushing open the door, an extremely spacious hall appeared before Una’s eyes.
The dome hung high above, visually at least seven or eight stories tall, with thick beams crisscrossing at the top.
The floor was paved with dark wood, polished as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the warm yellow light from above.
Several vermilion wooden pillars stood on either side, and between them hung ink-wash screens painted with distant mountains and flying birds.
Una froze, her gaze shifting from the screens to the palace lanterns, momentarily forgetting to move.
She had never seen this style of architecture before.
The houses on the Frost Ridge Plateau were mostly crude stone buildings with thick walls and narrow windows, their only function being to keep out the cold wind and wild beasts.
Even the stone buildings she had occasionally seen in Human Race towns were nowhere near as exquisite as the hall before her.
"It’s so beautiful," Aron murmured.
Una nodded in deep agreement.
"Don’t just stand there gawking. Keep up."
Romance’s voice came from ahead.
Una snapped back to her senses and saw that Romance had already reached the entrance to a corridor on the right side of the hall and was looking back at her.
She quickly pulled Aron along and followed Romance into the corridor and up the stairs.
Stepping onto the second floor, the view opened up dramatically.
A long corridor stretched out to both sides. On one side was a row of neat wooden doors with bronze nameplates embedded in their frames, engraved with designations like "Jia Zi," "Yi Chou," and so on.
On the other side were latticed windows, their frames joined by mortise and tenon, forming intricate yet orderly patterns.
Sunlight filtered in from outside, casting intersecting patterns of light and shadow on the floor.
Una couldn’t help but approach one of the latticed windows and look out.
Outside was a churning sea of clouds. The afterglow of the sunset dyed the clouds a golden red, like a bolt of brocade unfurling to the very edge of the horizon.
The clouds that had once seemed so unreachable when she looked up from the ground were now flowing slowly by, just within her reach.
Only then did Una realize the Flying Ship had already taken off.
She hadn’t felt the slightest vibration.
"The second floor is the living quarters. There are many rooms, so you can pick any one to rest in," Romance said casually. "We’re not far from the Taichu Spirit Realm. We should arrive in half an hour at most."
"Yes, Master," Una replied.
Romance smiled, said no more, and turned to leave.
After the door closed, Aron relaxed and immediately rushed to the window, leaning on the sill to stare outside.
"Sister, we’re really flying in the sky!"
"Mhm." Una also sat down beside him.
Aron was quiet for a moment, then spoke again. "Sister, is that Lord Romance very powerful?"
Una thought for a moment, then nodded. "Very powerful."
"More powerful than the Clan Leader?"
"It’s a different kind of powerful." Una reached out and ruffled her brother’s hair. "In any case, we won’t have to run around anymore."
Aron let out an "oh" of vague understanding and turned back to look at the sea of clouds outside the window.
The orange-red light streamed through the latticed window, casting a warm glow on his small face.
The Flying Ship was as steady as if it were standing still; even the sound of the wind was sealed outside.
Una leaned back in her chair, her eyelids gradually growing heavy.
After an unknown amount of time, the girl suddenly woke up.
She groggily rubbed her eyes, glanced at her brother who had fallen asleep beside her at some point, and then looked outside to see the clouds rapidly receding, revealing emerald-green vegetation below.
As far as the eye could see, there was a boundless ocean of green.
The trees towered into the clouds, their canopies layered so densely that they completely obscured the ground. From high above, almost no bare earth was visible.
Occasionally, birds would be startled from the treetops, circle once above the forest, and then disappear back into the green leaves.
"This is... the Taichu Spirit Realm?"
Una couldn’t help but murmur, her gaze lingering on the giant trees.
The Frost Ridge Plateau had no such vast forests.
It was a place of grayish-brown rocks, low shrubs, and sparse coniferous forests.
When winter came, the entire world was nothing but vast white snow and a bleak gray sky.
The Flying Ship continued its descent, passing through a nearly transparent, pale cyan light barrier.
In an instant, Una felt a gentle, moist aura wash over her, as if she had stepped from a dry wilderness into a mountain forest after a rain.
The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of plants and flowers mixed with the refreshing aroma of soil.
Every breath was like drinking a mouthful of sweet spring water.
Aron woke up at that moment. He took a deep breath instinctively, and a look of contentment immediately spread across his little face.
"Sister, what’s that smell? It’s so fragrant."
Una didn’t answer. The surge of Magic Power within her body left her too shocked to speak.
It was as if an invisible stream was rushing through her body. Her magic circuits felt like they had been infused with some kind of nutrient, and her previously stagnant Magic Power began to grow at a speed she had never experienced before.
She quickly realized this was the effect of the incredibly high concentration of energy in the air.
"The energy concentration here is actually this high..."
Una’s eyes were filled with amazement.
’So the Elves of the Silver Moon Race all live in an environment like this.’
’No wonder they’re all so powerful!’
After the shock, joy quickly welled up in Una’s heart.
’From now on, I’ll get to live in a place like this too!’
