Chapter 557: Chapter 246: Discovery

Upon hearing Fang Shuwen’s words, Suhe Chen’s expression relaxed considerably.

But after a glance at Luo Shuqing, he said:

"Brother Fang, Miss Luo has been running around with us all morning. Compared to us, her constitution is, after all, a bit frail. I’m afraid she won’t be able to keep this up."

"Why not let her go back and rest?"

"She’ll be safe here in Tingtiao Pavilion; there’s no need to worry."

Fang Shuwen raised an eyebrow. ’How does this guy have the nerve to say that?’ he thought.

’Your own sister is missing, and now you’re telling me not to worry about Luo Shuqing’s safety here?’

He glanced at Luo Shuqing, then smiled and said to Suhe Chen:

"No need. She may look frail, but she’s actually quite tough."

Luo Shuqing’s fingers twitched instinctively. The hand gripping Fang Shuwen’s sleeve suddenly shifted upward, as if she wanted to pinch him.

But in the end, she resisted the urge.

Suhe Chen gave a dry laugh.

"You jest, Brother Fang."

"Miss Luo is of noble birth... This..."

"Why don’t you let her speak for herself?"

Fang Shuwen looked at Luo Shuqing.

"Can you handle it?"

"I... I can handle it!"

It seemed to take a great deal of willpower for Luo Shuqing to nod firmly.

Seeing this, Suhe Chen smiled.

"Well, if you find you can’t go on, Miss Luo, feel free to go back and rest."

"Y-Young Pavilion Master, I think you’d best worry about your sister. Y-you don’t need to concern yourself with my affairs."

Luo Shuqing’s voice trembled as she spoke, her tone less than polite.

Fang Shuwen was inwardly amused, while Suhe Chen was momentarily taken aback before finally nodding.

After the meal, the group resumed their search for Suhe Lan.

As they were searching, a tremendous BOOM suddenly echoed from another part of the island.

Suhe Chen looked toward the source of the sound, his face paling in an instant.

"That sounded like it came from the direction of Bolan Hall!"

"Could it be those Assassins from last night? Are they making their move?"

For a moment, he was caught in a fierce internal struggle.

After a long moment, he took a deep breath, made his decision, and turned to say:

"Brother Fang, my fath—is over at Bolan Hall... Brother Fang? Miss Luo!?"

As far as he could see, there was no trace of Fang Shuwen or Luo Shuqing.

He stood there, dumbfounded.

"What’s going on? How could two people just vanish in the time it took me to turn my head?"

He looked at the Tingtiao Pavilion disciples beside him, but they all just stared at each other in bewilderment.

A moment ago, they had all been distracted by the sound of the explosion; not a single one of them had been looking at Fang Shuwen and Luo Shuqing.

No one knew what had happened in that brief instant.

How could two living, breathing people just disappear like that!?

Suhe Chen was suddenly frantic. Fang Shuwen’s disappearance wasn’t important—Luo Shuqing was!

She was connected to the Profound Celestial Iron Mirror.

If anything happened to her, wouldn’t all hope of getting the Profound Celestial Iron Mirror be lost?

"What are you all gawking at? Find them!"

Seething with uncontrollable rage, Suhe Chen roared, and the Tingtiao Pavilion disciples scrambled to begin the search.

The only problem was, they had originally been searching for just Suhe Lan; now, two more names had been added to the list of the missing.

For a moment, they were all shocked and uncertain.

The Second Miss had suddenly disappeared; perhaps there was foul play involved.

After all, while the Second Miss’s Martial Arts were formidable, there were still experts who could overpower her. But the person who had just vanished was the Human World Demon God himself.

For such a powerful figure to suddenly disappear... it couldn’t be a ghost, could it?

Before, they had thought searching for someone wasn’t so difficult. At worst, it would just be tiring, and the worst-case scenario was simply not finding the person.

But now, many of them felt their legs begin to tremble.

Suhe Chen led his men in the search for another full afternoon. But every so often, he would run back to Tingtiao Pavilion to look for Suhe Zhen.

But Suhe Zhen was even busier than he was today...

And so, Suhe Chen’s search continued for the rest of the afternoon.

It wasn’t until nightfall that he returned to Tingtiao Pavilion, utterly dejected.

He had barely taken two steps inside when Zuo Xuan, Zuo Hong, and Zhou Zhengze came up to greet him.

Fang Shuwen hadn’t taken them along to search for Suhe Lan, telling them to rest in their rooms instead.

They had been obedient, resting dutifully in their rooms all day. Only when they heard Suhe Chen had returned did they come out, intending to greet Fang Shuwen and Miss Luo and have dinner with them.

But a quick glance revealed that the two were nowhere to be seen.

Zuo Xuan froze, then hurriedly asked Suhe Chen:

"Young Pavilion Master, where are Hero Fang and Miss Luo?"

Suhe Chen looked dazed for a moment, unsure of how to answer.

’I can’t just tell them I took them out to search for someone, only to fail and lose them in the process, can I?’ he thought.

But there was no alternative now but to tell the truth, so he had to confess.

At this point, however, Suhe Chen couldn’t be bothered to put on an act for Zuo Xuan and the others.

’If these people have a problem with it...’ Before Fang Shuwen, he, Suhe Chen, might have to act meek, but that didn’t mean he’d let these three treat him like a pushover.

Sure enough, upon hearing his explanation, the expressions of Zuo Xuan and his two companions changed.

However, their reaction wasn’t what Suhe Chen had expected.

Zuo Xuan simply asked:

"The two of them disappeared together?"

Suhe Chen nodded.

"So?"

"It’s nothing."

Zuo Xuan shook his head.

"Young Pavilion Master, we’re going to go look for them. Would that be all right?"

"Do as you wish."

Suhe Chen waved a dismissive hand. ’I’ve searched all day without a single clue. What could the three of them possibly find?’ he thought.

After thanking him, Zuo Xuan led Zuo Hong and Zhou Zhengze straight out the door.

Once they had left Tingtiao Pavilion and were out on the island, they made sure no one was around before the three of them finally exchanged a look.
