My 100th Rebirth a day before the Apocalypse

Chapter 1013 - 1011 Mutated Animals Acquired 2

Chapter 1013: Chapter 1011 Mutated Animals Acquired 2

A faint cloud of powder drifted through the air, settling over the wolf’s snout and the porcupine’s quills. Kisha didn’t hold back either; she deliberately used a generous amount to ensure the sedative would last longer, especially considering the two were high-level mutated animals with stronger resistance than normal beasts.

Once done, she immediately stepped back and maintained her telekinetic hold.

All that was left now was to wait for the drug to take effect.

However, as expected, it wasn’t instantaneous.

Their bodies tensed almost immediately, instincts flaring as they sensed something was wrong. The mutated black wolf growled weakly and began to struggle again, twisting its body in midair, while the porcupine squealed and wiggled frantically as if trying to shake the powder off.

To them, the unfamiliar scent and sensation of the substance felt suspicious, almost like an attack, which only made them resist harder at first.

But their exhaustion worked against them.

Gradually, their movements began to slow.

The wolf’s growls turned sluggish, its limbs losing strength as its head dipped slightly. The porcupine’s frantic squeals weakened into low, drowsy sounds, its quills trembling less and less as its resistance faded. Their earlier struggle soon turned into uneven, delayed motions, as if their bodies were no longer responding properly to their instincts.

Then, one after the other—

Their bodies went limp.

The wolf’s head drooped first, followed by the porcupine’s round body sagging heavily in the air. Within moments, both mutated animals lost consciousness entirely, their earlier hostility and tension replaced by complete stillness as the knockout drops finally took full effect.

Kisha lightly clapped her hands together, brushing off any residue from the knockout drops to make sure not a single trace remained on her skin. Only then did she reach into her storage and pull out a length of thick rope, so heavy and coarse it was nearly as wide as her arm.

It was the same industrial rope Sparrow had taken from Port City, the kind used to secure massive shipping vessels against the docks.

She had no intention of underestimating the two mutated animals. An ordinary rope would be useless the moment they regained consciousness; they would snap it apart in seconds. So she worked efficiently, wrapping the rope tightly around their limbs and torsos, binding them layer after layer until even their massive bodies were thoroughly restrained.

Every knot was pulled firm, leaving no slack, her movements precise and cautious as she ensured they wouldn’t be able to break free easily once they woke up.

Only after confirming they were securely tied did she straighten, preparing to toss them into her territory space for safekeeping.

But just as she was about to do so, she paused.

Her gaze shifted slightly, her brows furrowing as she remembered Ethan was still right there with her. If she casually threw the mutated animals into her territory space in front of him, it would be no different from openly exposing the existence of her space, one that could even store living beings.

And that kind of secret was far too dangerous to reveal so casually.

If word of such an ability ever spread, it would undoubtedly ignite boundless greed in countless people. Powerful factions, opportunists, and even allies might begin to covet it, and once that happened, the trouble that followed would be endless.

If it were merely an ordinary storage space, it wouldn’t have mattered much. But a space capable of storing living beings was a completely different matter. Once people realized that, it wouldn’t take long for them to start speculating about everything else she could possibly do with it, conceal troops, hide supplies, smuggle assets, or even imprison targets. And the moment such thoughts took root, so would greed.

Powerful factions would covet her. Opportunists would target her. Even so-called allies might begin to look at her differently.

That was a risk she absolutely couldn’t afford.

So what should she do now? She couldn’t possibly drag two massive, mutated beasts around while continuing her hunt for more. It would slow her down, drain her energy, and attract unnecessary attention.

On the other hand, there was also a clear advantage to securing them as soon as possible. While they were still unconscious, their resistance would be at its lowest, their instincts dulled, and their mental defenses weakened. If she handed them over to Mike during this window, he would have a far better chance at taming them compared to when they were fully awake and at peak ferocity.

Kisha rubbed her chin slowly, her brows slightly furrowed as she fell into deep contemplation, weighing secrecy against efficiency and risk against opportunity.

Sensing that Kisha was hesitating and holding something back from him, Ethan couldn’t help but feel a faint sting of disappointment. Still, he understood the situation clearly. He hadn’t earned her full trust yet. And because of that, she wasn’t obligated to explain herself or consider his feelings over her own secrets.

He could also tell that his presence was putting her in a difficult position, limiting what she could do.

So instead of pressing her or asking questions, he casually glanced around as if something had caught his attention.

"While you deal with these mutated animals," he said lightly, "I’ll scout around and see if there are more nearby. If I can handle them, I’ll help you capture them. If not..." he shrugged with a boyish grin, "I’ll just shout for you."

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked off, giving her space without making it obvious that he was doing so on purpose.

Watching his retreating figure, Kisha felt a flicker of amusement. He was self-aware enough to recognize her hesitation, yet mature enough not to pry. An unconscious smile curved onto her lips.

Once he was far enough away, she raised her hand without hesitation and stored the two tightly bound mutated animals into her territory space in a swift motion.

After that, she opened her chat interface and sent a message to Mike.

...

[Kisha: I’ve just sent a Mutated Black Wolf and a Mutated Porcupine into the territory. They’re both strong specimens with good potential. See if you can try taming them.]

[Kisha: But don’t rush it. Take your time and work at your own pace. If they wake up and try to break free, I’ll subdue them again so you can continue safely.]

[Kisha: And if it turns out they’re too difficult to tame, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I have other methods to handle them if necessary. Even then, I’ll still leave them in your care afterward.]

[Kisha: So don’t feel burdened. Do your best, that’s enough.]

Almost immediately, a reply popped up.

[Mike: Understood, Young Madam. Leave it to me!]

[Mike: ૮₍´。ᵔ ꈊ ᵔ。`₎ა]

A second later, another message followed.

[Mike: And... thank you!]

...

Seeing Mike’s message of thanks made Kisha smile unconsciously. It was a small thing, but it meant a lot to her. She could tell that Mike wasn’t the type to take her help for granted or treat everything she did as something he was simply entitled to receive. His humility and good upbringing were evident even in something as simple as a message of gratitude.

That sincerity only strengthened her resolve to continue the project they were working on together.

After storing the two mutated animals in her territory space, Kisha headed in the direction Ethan had gone. She walked at a steady pace, expecting to catch up to him quickly.

But after about three minutes, her brows slowly furrowed.

Ethan was nowhere in sight.

She didn’t believe he would have gone too far. From the way he left earlier, it seemed obvious he had only made an excuse to give her some privacy so she could handle whatever she didn’t want him to see.

Yet now, even after a few minutes of walking, she still couldn’t find him.

That could only mean one thing, Ethan might have actually started scouting for mutated animals as he said he would.

Frowning slightly, Kisha summoned Bell’s drone and sent it ahead to scan the surrounding area, instructing it to locate Ethan’s position as quickly as possible.

"Sis!"

Kisha suddenly heard Ethan’s shout echo through the trees.

A moment later, she saw him sprinting back toward her at full speed. His movements were frantic, his breathing rough, as if he had just run straight through danger without stopping.

But before she could even ask what had happened, Ethan shouted again, louder this time.

"Run! Run quickly!"

The urgency on his face, combined with the way he was charging toward her like his life depended on it, immediately made Kisha chuckle. For a split second, she thought he might have stirred up something trivial, perhaps a nest of aggressive hornets or a pack of smaller beasts.

But the amusement didn’t last long.

Her smile froze.

Behind Ethan, a massive rhinoceros-like animal burst through the trees. Its enormous body shook the ground with every step, easily the size of an elephant. Two terrifying tusks jutted forward from its head, long, sharp, and gleaming like oversized blades aimed directly at Ethan’s back.
