Chapter 397: Chapter 395: Seven-Colored Tree Bubble
Faye Yardley sent the message and didn’t bother waiting for a reaction. She took out a large stainless steel bucket, jumped off the raft with it, and with a SNAP, opened an umbrella.
She had the others pour all the rainwater they had collected into this large bucket.
The already pitted and uneven ice surface now had an added layer of color.
Faye Yardley extended her right hand from under the umbrella, letting the rain fall directly into her palm. The fine, hair-like drizzle soon enveloped her right hand, but it had no effect on her.
After the bucket was about a quarter full of water, Faye Yardley thought for a moment, tossed in a few ice chunks, then took out a Magic Seed and dropped it right in.
Sure enough, in a world that defied science, there were no scientific laws to speak of. The Magic Seed actually began to sprout and take root almost immediately.
Faye Yardley simply set up a chair, propped up a large umbrella with a stick, and then sat there, continuously making trades and pouring the proceeds into the bucket.
Even the rainwater collected by Cole Kensington and Eamon had to pass through her hands before being poured into the bucket.
As more and more rainwater was added, the Magic Seed in the bucket began to grow, transforming from a thin little sapling into a tree as tall as a person.
The only thing was, the tree consisted entirely of bare, slippery, seven-colored branches.
’It seems different energy sources really do grow different plants.’
Faye Yardley reached out and touched a branch. It didn’t shy away; instead, it wrapped a smaller twig around her hand. After playing with it for a moment, she asked, "Should I take you out of the bucket? If you grow directly on the ice, you might be able to absorb things faster."
The little branch WHOOSHED back, then bobbed up and down. It had agreed.
Faye Yardley didn’t even have to lift a finger. It climbed out of the bucket on its own roots. The moment it touched the ice, Faye saw its roots begin to grow wildly, a dense mat of fine, white rootlets quickly spreading across the ice in front of her.
One long rootlet remained in the bucket, and Faye Yardley continued her non-stop trading, pouring the rainwater in.
The bare Seven-Colored Tree grew larger and larger.
By noon, the Seven-Colored Tree was already taller than the highest structure on the raft.
But it still looked the same—not a single leaf had sprouted.
Bramble looked at its own height, then at the tree’s, and suddenly felt a bit of plant-like sorrow.
Meanwhile, the vines plunged into the Flower Dew and began to absorb it with all their might.
She had Cole Kensington and the others pour the collected rainwater into another large stainless steel bucket, and handed over the trading duties to Willow Yardley. Faye planned to enter the training room again; she couldn’t afford to waste time.
When she came out of the training room, the Seven-Colored Tree had astonishingly grown into a colossal, sky-high tree.
Its branches blotted out the sky above the raft, completely obscuring even the Energy Protection Shield.
Lucy White and the others no longer needed to collect extra rainwater for it; its roots were now proactively absorbing all the water from the trades.
"Sister, should we keep trading?"
Willow Yardley asked uncertainly, looking at the ever-thickening Seven-Colored Tree before them.
Faye Yardley was also a bit incredulous. ’Did I mess up raising the first Magic Seed? It’s barely grown at all, yet both Bramble and now this Seven-Colored Tree have grown at speeds far beyond my imagination.’
"Lower our purchase price. If people are still willing to sell, keep buying."
"Okay."
After speaking, Faye Yardley leaped a few times and landed on the Seven-Colored Tree, making her way step by step to its very treetop.
Sure enough, the higher you stand, the farther you see.
Gazing into the distance, she saw that the ice below was a vast expanse of white. Only in the far distance could she still see a seven-colored reflection.
From the moonlit hours of early morning to the current sunshine, the seven-colored rain showed no sign of stopping.
Suddenly, a rainbow bubble enveloped Faye Yardley completely. She didn’t feel any discomfort, it was just...
"Seven-Colored Tree, is this rainbow bubble your fruit? Is it to help me block the rain? Thank you."
In truth, the fine drizzle didn’t harm her at all, but she had to accept the Seven-Colored Tree’s kind gesture.
There was no difficulty breathing inside the rainbow bubble. ’If these can be mass-produced, then...’
"Seven-Colored Tree, do these bubbles consume a lot of energy?"
A seven-colored branch swayed, and then, one after another, rainbow bubbles began to emerge continuously from all over the tree.
Uh...
Faye Yardley reached out and touched one of the small bubbles outside, and she received a system notification.
[Seven-Colored Tree Bubble: A bubble expelled by the Seven-Colored Tree. It can block corrosive damage. It can also allow you to float on water.]
Looking at this system description, Faye Yardley had the strange feeling that these bubbles were actually the Seven-Colored Tree’s farts.
She quickly shook her head to banish the absurd thought. ’The idea of being inside a fart... that’s just too horrible.’
Still, looking at the rainbow bubbles glowing softly in the sunlight, she couldn’t help but feel like she was in a fantastical, fairy-tale world.
She collected all the bubbles, and the count reached over a thousand.
Faye Yardley gave a large portion to her brother, then sent a few to Zephyr Sterling and her other acquaintances.
Back on the raft, she received a call from Zachary Pierce. "Yardley, do you have any more of those bubbles? We’d like to trade for some."
"I can trade you two hundred. Let’s trade for that seven-colored rainwater."
’After all, if I only trade for supplies, I won’t be able to handle the enthusiasm of the entire country by myself.’
"Okay."
Faye Yardley thought for a moment then said, "Mr. Pierce, if any of your people want to attempt Dungeon 5, I can give one person a blessing each day. It might increase their chances of clearing it."
Zachary Pierce didn’t think she was lying for a second and replied directly, "Okay, thank you."
She gave Eamon and the others a bubble each, making it much more convenient for them if they wanted to venture farther out.
Even Bella could use one of these bubbles, as they adjusted their size based on the user’s body.
She had just hung up with Zachary Pierce when, unexpectedly, Master Veridian called.
"Master, what’s up?"
"Yardley, these bubbles of yours... heheh, could you tell this old Daoist where they came from?"
Faye Yardley hummed in acknowledgment and adjusted her video camera. Soon, she heard Master Veridian’s cry of astonishment. "Yardley, you really... run into all sorts of things, don’t you? Can you break off a few branches for me?"
"No, it’s mine."
Master Veridian said hastily, "Don’t be so quick to refuse! We can trade for them. This old Daoist isn’t the type to take advantage of people."
Faye Yardley still shook her head. "I can’t, Master. It’s still just a baby."
Looking at the tree that blotted out the sun, Master Veridian couldn’t for the life of him figure out what part of it was "a baby."
"I want to use its bark to make talismans. This kind of bark should be an excellent material for Talisman Paper."
Faye Yardley refused again. She knew Master Veridian all too well. Ever since he came to this world and discovered he could draw talismans and set up Arrays, his heart, once devoted to the Mystic Four Arts, had been completely rekindled.
