Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 830: Always Here

Chapter 830: Chapter 830: Always Here

"No, don’t, don’t watch the fight here, or I’ll get shy."

There wasn’t any expression on the Xiao Lan Zombie’s face, yet she said she’d get shy, which no matter how you looked at it didn’t sound very believable.

But it was very, very real.

The relationship between the Xiao Lan Zombie and Bai Xiqin was just too close, like best girlfriends among humans.

Of course she couldn’t expose her true face right in front of Xiao Qunqun.

What if Xiao Qunqun started to dislike her?

It was the same reason why Zhang Yiming never slaughtered anyone in front of Bai Xiqin.

"Go, go, go! I’ll be done in a bit."

The Xiao Lan Zombie saw Bai Xiqin still standing there, not moving, and even reached out to push Xiao Niu’s arm.

As a lady Zombie, the Xiao Lan Zombie really did care about her image in Xiao Qunqun’s heart.

This was probably the only confidence all female creatures had in their natural body scent.

At home you can pick your feet; outside you have to be refined.

"Alright then!"

Bai Xiqin glanced at Captain Zhu, who had already become violent to the extreme, then looked again at the Xiao Lan Zombie who was still "coaxing" her to go rest, and could only nod.

If she stayed here, she’d probably affect the Xiao Lan Zombie’s performance.

"Captain Zhu, if you turn back now, it’s still not too late."

Just as Bai Xiqin turned away, a terrifying aura suddenly erupted from the Xiao Lan Zombie’s body.

The surroundings fell abruptly silent; even the Zombies’ roars disappeared.

All the ordinary Zombies stood where they were, motionless, waiting for the duel between the two Zombie Kings.

Only a very small number of relatively powerful High Rank Zombies could still control their own actions and quickly fled the area.

When immortals fight, little Zombies like them have no business getting involved.

Captain Zhu pressed his thin lips together; even though Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai had already gone far, he could still clearly smell the scent of flesh and blood emanating from them.

This kind of smell was really hard to quit.

He’d met so many survivors, yet never again did he encounter anyone whose scent was stronger than that of the Bai Family.

Even though back then, in order to find Xiao Song, he’d had a fleeting thought of letting the Bai Family go.

But his nose wouldn’t lie, and the scent of flesh and blood wouldn’t disappear.

The bloodthirsty impulse carved into his bones could never be completely hidden away.

"Zhang Yiming is indeed strong enough, strong enough to perfectly restrain his own instincts. But Zombies are born to devour flesh and blood. If one day he can no longer control his instincts, I’m afraid he’ll be more bloodthirsty and berserk than any Zombie."

Captain Zhu spoke calmly,

"Zombies can’t deceive each other. If I lie, you’ll notice, so you should know what I really think."

The Xiao Lan Zombie wasn’t surprised at all by Captain Zhu’s refusal to compromise.

The scent on Xiao Qunqun’s body was truly wonderful; no Zombie with memory would ever forget her smell.

The slices of meat inside the flesh could never be cut loose.

Probably even Xiao Qunqun herself didn’t know how good she smelled, nor did she understand why no High Rank Zombie kept hunting the Bai Family.

Because all the High Rank Zombies who coveted their flesh and blood had either already submitted, or were already dead.

This time, the one who had to be eliminated was Captain Zhu.

The Xiao Lan Zombie knew that no matter what she said, she couldn’t change Captain Zhu’s mind. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that the two of them really had entered that abandoned beauty salon, and then she charged straight toward Captain Zhu.

A cold, sharp aura wrapped around her body; the Xiao Lan Zombie looked like a stunningly beautiful Asura.

Powerful and merciless.

Captain Zhu pushed away the Xiao Song Zombie that kept trying to gnaw on him, and also lunged toward the Xiao Lan Zombie.

The duel between Zombie Kings wasn’t particularly visually spectacular.

Their contest was a battle of brainwaves; the Zombie horde didn’t even dare to come near anymore.

The Xiao Lan Zombie held a small, exquisite dagger in her hand, a dagger given to her by the Bai Family, very handy to use.

Captain Zhu had no weapon. Purple lightning crackled over his body, and the storm of energy rolling off him made the whole world dim a few shades.

...

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai were inside the house, ears constantly tuned to the sounds outside.

The noise of buildings collapsing was endless; gusts of wind blew over and slammed bits of rubble against the walls with heavy thuds.

With her eyes closed, Bai Xiqin could sense two powerful brainwaves clearly separated, relentlessly attacking each other.

Bai Xiqin only tried to touch them a little, and those berserk, bloodthirsty factors immediately flooded her mind.

She hurriedly pulled her own brainwaves back and stopped peeping.

"You okay?"

Leng Yebai reached out and gently patted Bai Xiqin’s back; Bai Xiqin’s face was still a little pale.

Bai Xiqin shook her head lightly and continued listening to the commotion outside.

Zombies fought among themselves.

Humans also fought among themselves.

Between Zombies and humans, they were even more inherently incompatible existences.

Trying to achieve coexistence between Zombies and humans like in Taovillage was harder than just a little bit.

"What kind of future did Captain Zhang see, to choose this path?"

Bai Xiqin’s fingers tapped lightly on the tabletop as she recalled the events before her rebirth.

She hadn’t lived very long in the apocalypse; she’d thought what she saw back then was already the end of the world, but it actually wasn’t.

Humans at that time were weak, yet hadn’t compromised on a large scale, nor truly bowed their heads to Zombies.

The future Captain Zhang saw was definitely a future far, far, far ahead; by then, would humans still exist?

Probably only Captain Zhang himself knew.

Leng Yebai saw Bai Xiqin lost in thought and didn’t disturb her, simply stayed quietly by her side.

He understood that with or without him, the Bai Family could live well in the apocalypse, their days just as carefree and unrestrained.

But he would always be there.

No matter when, no matter where, as long as Xiao Niu needed him, he’d be there.

When she wanted a drink of water, he could hand her a cup of hot tea.

When they encountered a strong enemy, even if he wasn’t a match, he would still be the first to charge.

What he could offer was companionship.

That was his everything, and also his life.

...

"Yaya, yaya, as expected of your trusted general, the burst power is pretty strong. Even though she evolved later, she’s still stronger than those guys who turned into Zombie Kings right after infection."

Captain Zhang stood on the top floor of a tall building, squinting as he watched the battle between the two Zombie Kings in the distance.

The two figures flew back and forth, occasionally crashing into nearby buildings, then quickly climbing back up to charge at each other again.

Zombies had no sense of pain; their combat output was always stronger than a Superpower User of the same Rank.

"That’s Xiao Niu’s credit."

A cool, indifferent voice sounded by Captain Zhang’s ear.

Captain Zhang rolled his eyes and stretched out his hand. "Where’s the stuff?"

Zhang Yiming gave Captain Zhang a meaningful look and didn’t straightforwardly hand the thing over.

There was a hint of scrutiny in his eyes.

This wasn’t a deal between him and Captain Zhang as two individuals, but a deal between humans and Zombies.

In Zhang Yiming’s view, Captain Zhang’s deal was for the good of humanity, and the Zombie side was relatively at a loss.

But Zhang Yiming never cared about that; the Zombies’ interests weren’t his interests.

Yet Captain Zhang’s actions were very unfriendly—to Captain Zhang himself.

Had he really managed to go this far?

Asking himself honestly, if he had a choice, Zhang Yiming wouldn’t make the same decision as Captain Zhang.

"I won’t regret the decision I’ve made. Give me the thing. Those creatures in the sea won’t be easy to deal with in the future."

Captain Zhang’s eyes didn’t waver; his tone was firm.
