News that a monk had a breakthrough while drinking milk tea spread like wildfire. The customers who had scrambled to climb up the mountain heard the news but acted as if it was only natural.
“What’s the big deal? Boss Lu has even more amazing things in store.”
“It’s not the first time this has happened. Why are you making such a fuss? So unworldly.”
“Boss Lu is just getting bigger and better, creating new miracles. This is nothing.”
The customers blindly believed Lu Wu could create more miracles, but this was limited to the old-timers.
Many new customers’ first reaction upon hearing the news was skepticism.
Take Fang Xian and Qian Bao, for example. It was hard for them to imagine that after so many years of Ascetic cultivation with no progress, someone could have a breakthrough in an instant just by drinking a cup of milk tea.
If word of this got out, wouldn’t it make the two of them look like total newbs?
“It’s true.”
A passing monk spoke up after overhearing Fang Xian and Qian Bao’s discussion. His serene expression reminded Fang Xian of those high-ranking monks.
“And how would you know it’s real and not just a gimmick, Master?”
Qian Bao scoffed.
He admitted the milk tea was delicious. To get a taste, he had even set aside his grudge with Fang Xian to work together and climb the mountain today.
But something like this was completely unheard of.
“I know because I am that monk who had the breakthrough.”
The green-hatted monk, Chan Hua, dropped this bombshell right in their faces. After saying his piece, Chan Hua smiled, nodded at the two, and walked toward the temple.
He’d finished his milk tea. He had to go back and ask his master.
‘Don’t be fooled by my calm exterior; I’m actually terrified inside. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me, after all.’
‘My heart’s pounding.’
‘When in doubt, find Master. That’s always the right move.’
Watching Chan Hua’s retreating figure, Fang Xian’s jaw dropped in astonishment.
“Actually, your skepticism is justified. This sort of thing does sound like utter nonsense.”
A customer passing by must have overheard their conversation and chimed in. He had no intention of discussing it further with Fang Xian, however, and walked straight past him.
“Brother, I know how you feel. It’s good to be skeptical. After all, we can’t just blindly follow the crowd. A man needs to have his own opinions.”
Another passing customer expressed his agreement, also continuing on his way without stopping.
“Right, right, I support you, brother. Take your time thinking it over. Hope you reach enlightenment soon.”
One after another, the customers seemed to have super-hearing.
So many people were supporting him, yet Fang Xian just frowned and thought carefully.
“Something’s not right.”
‘These customers all say they support me, but they’re all smiling happily, as if something wonderful has happened. Their attention isn’t on me at all.’
‘This baffling feeling was making Fang Xian’s hair stand on end. A conspiracy! This is a conspiracy!’
“You support me, too?”
Just then, another customer came by, and Fang Xian casually asked.
“Huh?”
The customer was confused at first, his eyes filled with doubt, but then, as if he’d seen some kind of signal, he nodded emphatically.
“Right, right, I support you.”
Leaving him with those words, the customer quickened his pace and walked past Fang Xian and his companion toward a spot not far away.
And that spot was where Boss Lu had set up her stall.
“I get it now.”
Fang Xian’s gaze followed, and upon seeing the crowd of customers already gathered in front of the stall, he shouted as inspiration struck.
“You’re all just trying to make me fall to the back of the line!”
‘There are bad guys in this crowd! These villains are trying to mess with my head so I’d forget about queuing!’
‘But the brilliant me saw through their plot.’
“Baobao, let’s hurry up and get in line.”
‘I can’t fall too far behind!’
As he said this, Fang Xian reached out to his side, intending to grab Qian Bao and pull him along.
He grabbed, but only caught air.
Fang Xian turned around, only to find that Qian Bao was long gone. Looking again, he saw—well, what do you know—there was Qian Bao in the queue, chatting warmly with the other customers.
‘There’s a traitor right by my side!’
“Baobao, how could you do this to me?”
He shouted and rushed over, but he was a step too slow. Several customers now stood between them, and Fang Xian craned his neck to condemn Qian Bao’s heartlessness.
‘Brought in the door yesterday, betraying the master today.’
Qian Bao’s actions deeply wounded Fang Xian’s heart.
‘Just as I thought, I never should have forgiven him!’
‘I swear, I’ll tell the whole world about the Dog-Pee Flower incident to get revenge for this betrayal!’
Seeing Fang Xian’s tantrum, the customers burst into roaring laughter.
“You’ll get used to it, brother.”
This was nothing. There were plenty of actual blood brothers who would come to blows over a single serving of food.
The customers were in high spirits.
Boss Lu had a new drink out, so they could get their milk tea and enjoy a good show. As long as they weren’t the butt of the joke, why not stir the pot a little?
When the three brothers arrived on the mountain, they were greeted by the sight of the boisterous customers.
Through the crowded throng, they also saw a busy Lu Wu.
“Her disguise is really good.”
Third remarked with feeling.
‘She’s clearly here to cause destruction, just like us, yet her stall is this popular.’
‘From what people around are saying, she’s the Boss Lu that crowd was waiting for. So my partner is this incredible.’
His fervent gaze traveled across the distance to Lu Wu, and it just so happened to be caught by her.
Looking up, Lu Wu saw it was the three kneeling brothers. She found a spare moment to wave at them in greeting.
“She’s telling us to go over. It must be time for the official rendezvous.”
Third said with absolute certainty.
“A great hermit hides in the bustling city. We still have much to learn from this mindset.”
Second Brother felt a surge of admiration.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”
Their leader led the other two toward the line.
Although they didn’t know why she was disguised as a stall owner, judging by the situation, blending into the crowd as customers was the most natural and least risky way to make contact.
The crowd pushed forward.
“Boss Lu, are yesterday’s milk tea flavors really not coming back?”
A regular customer asked sadly as she waited for her milk tea.
Her words caught the attention of many other customers, and the scene instantly fell silent.
“That’s right. For this stall, I plan to sell different kinds of milk tea every day.”
Lu Wu wished she could bring every variety of milk tea to the Green Origin Realm and let these Cultivators be properly awed by the milk tea empire.
‘This is the first step of Blue Star’s invasion of the Green Origin Realm.’
“Boss Lu~”
The customer’s voice instantly turned soft and pleading. She lifted her pretty face and looked pitifully at Lu Wu, trying to make her go soft.
“Your milk tea is ready.”
‘Perhaps it was from seeing so many handsome monks these past two days, but my resistance to beautiful faces has increased.’
‘Don’t act cute. It won’t work.’
“Hmph!”
The female customer stomped her foot, but her hands holding the milk tea were exceptionally careful.
She moved to the side, cradling her milk tea.
‘After I finish this milk tea, I’ll team up with the other customers to launch a beauty offensive against Boss Lu.’
‘As long as there are enough of us, I refuse to believe Boss Lu won’t be swayed.’
‘I’ve noticed quite a few familiar faces among the customers. They usually dress so casually, but as soon as they come to see Boss Lu, they’re all cleaned up and looking sharp.’
‘And I have to admit, some of them are quite attractive.’
‘As if I don’t know what little schemes they’re all plotting.’
The customers hoping to use their looks to charm her were getting restless, but Lu Wu’s heart was like iron, and she remained completely unmoved.
