The Cultivation Food Stall: Sold Out Every Night

Chapter 202: Isn’t This Also a Kind of Instant Kill?

Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Isn’t This Also a Kind of Instant Kill?

GLUG GLUG GLUG!

As the ghost squeezed out of the Ghost Gate, the water of the Cold Pond was the first thing to flood into its body, causing it to make an overwhelmed sound.

The mortal realm was clearly within reach, yet their bodies sank into the Cold Pond.

The first ghost to emerge barely struggled in the Cold Pond before it hit the bottom, with no bounce.

"Er..."

For a moment, the disciples who had been ready for a life-or-death battle felt their emotions go on a wild roller coaster ride.

’Is that it?’

’What happened to the promised Night Parade of Hundred Demons and endless slaughter?’

’Hah!’

"I didn’t expect Boss Lu to be so knowledgeable about these things."

Elder Dan sighed in admiration. "The younger generation is truly formidable."

Who could have guessed that the opening of the Ghost Gate would be over before it even began?

"Aha."

Lu Wu spread her hands. She really didn’t know anything; it was just a wild guess.

’Who knew these impressive-looking ghosts were all non-swimmers?’

Bubbles rose from the bottom of the pond to the surface. The ghosts were sleeping so peacefully that Lu Wu didn’t have the heart to disturb them.

’It’s great to be young. They fall asleep the moment their heads hit the pillow.’

"Is it over?"

The Divine Spear Sect disciples were having a strange experience. They had expected a huge battle.

But in the end, it was resolved without a fight.

"I guess so."

The disciples were filled with self-doubt, but the fact remained that after the Bronze Gate opened, not a single ghost from inside had managed to crawl ashore.

They all just blew some bubbles and then were gone.

A goldfish has a seven-second memory, but these ghosts’ lives only lasted a second.

’Isn’t this, in its own way, an instant kill?’

The Divine Spear Sect disciples began hauling out the ghosts’ corpses. Though the creatures were pitch-black, the essence condensed from them could be used for smithing and Alchemy, making them a type of rare material.

The main principle was to let nothing go to waste.

On one side, ghosts were continuously drowning; on the other, people were continuously casting nets.

As a bystander, Lu Wu was about to doze off.

As evening approached, Lu Wu rubbed her eyes and set up a fire. The salvage operation showed no signs of ending, so she figured she might as well roast some rabbits.

Lu Wu had saved the bodies of the rabbits from before.

She skinned and washed them clean.

The marinade had to be carefully prepared. Nothing could be skipped, from the ingredients that removed the gamey taste to those that enhanced the flavor.

With the members of the Divine Spear Sect plus the demon beasts, there were quite a few mouths to feed, so Lu Wu prepared rabbits in several different flavors.

Spicy, five-spice, original honey-glazed...

Just hearing Lu Wu’s descriptions, they knew a feast fit for a Taotie awaited them.

The rabbit heads had been so addicting; the roasted rabbit was bound to be just as good, if not better.

Lu Wu used a knife to make several cuts along the rabbits’ backs to allow the marinade to penetrate deeper for more flavor. She then poked some small holes to prevent the meat from shrinking too much during roasting.

Lu Wu’s technique was excellent. She gave the rabbits a full-body massage, ensuring every inch was taken care of.

The prepared marinade exuded a rich, savory aroma, and the progress of the people salvaging by the Cold Pond slowed down considerably. They were completely distracted.

After using a Spell to chill the rabbit meat, Lu Wu spread the rabbits out, spread-eagled, and then propped them up next to the fire.

The Glazed Fire, following its master’s will, constantly adjusted the size of its flames.

Night fell. The pale golden flames dispersed the cold air around the Cold Pond as Lu Wu brushed a layer of a honey-and-oil mixture onto the surface of the rabbit meat.

In the high heat, the sweet fragrance of honey made everyone’s noses twitch.

The demon beasts grew restless. They were getting hungry.

Amidst the swirling smoke, the charred fragrance of the charcoal fire enveloped everyone like silken threads.

A disciple put down his fishing net. "Have you guys noticed that the number of ghosts down there has decreased significantly?"

The Ghost Gate was still open, but fewer ghosts were emerging.

This also meant they could call it a day.

As they cast their last large net, behind them, Lu Wu gave the rabbit meat one final turn.

Then, Lu Wu sprinkled different seasonings onto the meat, allowing them to merge with its natural fats.

Catalyzed by the flames, the dripping fat released a fragrant aroma.

The honey-oil mixture trickled over the surface of the meat. The well-marbled rabbit seemed to stretch its limbs, showing off its deliciousness to everyone.

GULP!

A beast was swallowing its saliva.

Lu Wu turned her head and saw it was the squirrel.

The squirrel was clinging to Lu Wu, refusing to leave. Noticing her gaze, it tilted its head and then took out a Spirit Fruit, offering it to her.

"You want me to add this?"

The little squirrel nodded emphatically.

’Tasty. Fragrant.’

Lu Wu crushed the Spirit Fruit and spread it evenly on the inside of the rabbit.

The caramel-like, reddish-brown exterior captivated everyone’s attention. Elder Jiang shuffled over, plopped himself down, and refused to move.

"An old man gets tired easily. Can’t fight old age, you know. I’ll just rest here for a bit, just for a bit."

While saying this, Elder Jiang’s eyes were glued to the rabbit, wishing he could devour it on the spot.

The others were not to be outdone.

They surrounded Lu Wu like a pack of wolves.

To prevent any squabbling, Lu Wu thoughtfully divided the roasted rabbits by the number of people and beasts.

Lu Wu took a cumin-flavored roasted rabbit for herself.

The crispy skin was covered in fine particles of cumin and chili flakes. The meat had shrunk slightly in the high heat, making the outline of the bones more distinct.

Lu Wu took a rabbit leg and bit down.

The charcoal smoke had left irregular charred spots on the surface of the meat.

As her teeth gently pressed down on the crispy outer layer, it made a "CRUNCH" sound.

It was slightly sticky to the teeth.

A hint of sweetness activated her taste buds, followed immediately by the heat of the chili and the piquant fragrance of the cumin.

They collided and merged in her mouth, blending with the natural, fatty aroma of the rabbit meat itself.

When she bit through to the plump meat, savory juices seeped out. The flesh was firm yet not tough, tender and springy to the bite.

The smoky charcoal flavor was soul-stirring.

Juices trickled down their fingers, and the diners licked them clean one by one.

They didn’t care about eating elegantly; they only cared about how to eat in a way that wouldn’t disrespect this culinary masterpiece.

The cartilage and joints were roasted to a charred fragrance.

In the end, the diners didn’t even spare the bones, which were satisfyingly crunchy in their mouths.

The demon beasts clutched the rabbit meat and tore at it with their sharp fangs, their manners coarse. The Cultivators, for their part, were no better, carelessly wiping grease from their cheeks, completely focused on chowing down.

"Oh my god, this meat is so tender! Woo hoo hoo, it’s so numbing and spicy, my tongue is going numb!"

One disciple had tears welling in his eyes.

He held the roasted rabbit with a devout expression.

"I like the honey-glazed one. It’s sweet, and even the nooks between the bones are filled with sweetness. It has a light, fruity aroma too. It’s so refreshing, not greasy at all."

The Female Cultivator’s palate was a bit lighter.

As her tongue swept over the specks of sauce left on her lips and she closed her eyes to savor the aftertaste, a five-spice rabbit leg was extended toward her from the side.

"Honey, I’m sorry. I was wrong yesterday. Please accept this as an apology."

The male cultivator who got beaten up yesterday had finally mustered the courage to apologize.

His sincerity was measured in one whole, large rabbit leg.

He had figured it out. He wanted the rabbit, but he also wanted his woman.

’Since he could have both, why choose only one?’

"Please forgive me, okay?"

The male cultivator held up his hands in surrender, giving the Female Cultivator puppy-dog eyes. She blinked uncomfortably, gave a tsundere-like huff, and then tore the rabbit leg in half.

’There was nothing wrong with the older woman in the relationship doting on the younger man a little.’

"You eat some too."

She wasn’t the type to hog all the food for herself.

"I was also in the wrong yesterday. I shouldn’t have been so rough."

The Female Cultivator apologized with her head lowered, a hint of shyness coloring her beautiful face.

"It’s okay, Honey! It didn’t hurt. Next time, you can hit me even harder."

The male cultivator quickly replied, wiping one hand clean before wrapping it around the Female Cultivator’s waist, and the two of them started getting all lovey-dovey.
