Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Everyone Else Leave, I Will Only Speak to Yun Sheng
Si Jin acutely sensed Bai Ye’s vigilance and apprehension, but he paid it no mind. As if completely blind to the other man’s reaction, he kept his full attention firmly fixed on Yun Sheng by his side.
Looking at her with gentle eyes, he softly explained, "I just wanted to find something for Lin Zhenye to do, so he wouldn’t have the energy and time to cause you trouble."
Hearing this, Yun Sheng immediately recalled the call Lin Zhenye had made to her the night before. His tone had been overbearing, every word laced with accusation. After she hung up, she had been furious, and it was Si Jin who had comforted her.
She hadn’t expected Si Jin to take action against the Lin family on her behalf afterward, simply to cut off Lin Zhenye’s chance of harassing her again. At this moment, Yun Sheng felt a complex mix of emotions. She was touched by what Si Jin had quietly done for her, yet shocked that he wielded such immense energy behind the scenes.
As if seeing through her thoughts, Si Jin gently rubbed the back of her hand with his fingertips, his tone remaining understated. "Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. I won’t actually bankrupt the Lin family; I’m just temporarily disrupting his plans, keeping him so overwhelmed that he won’t have the energy to pester you anymore."
His simple words were delivered lightly, yet they exuded absolute control power. From start to finish, Si Jin’s goal had never been to destroy the Lin family, but to protect Yun Sheng. Her heart warmed, and all her tangled, complicated feelings vanished into thin air.
Looking up at the gentle-eyed man beside her, she said softly, "I know."
DING. The elevator arrived at their floor, and the doors slowly slid open. A chilling, solemn atmosphere rushed out to meet them, completely different from the bustling noise downstairs.
The entire corridor was empty and desolate, devoid of any unnecessary personnel. High-level Sentinels stood ramrod straight on guard along both sides. Each wore a stern expression and exuded a frigid aura, their postures radiating tense vigilance. Every corner was tightly monitored, the security exceptionally strict.
Bai Ye quickly restrained all unnecessary emotions and pointed to a room at the end of the hall. "The isolation room where Lin Yueyao is being held is right at the end. Let’s head straight there."
With that, he took the lead, and Si Jin and Yun Sheng quickly followed. As the three walked straight down the long, narrow corridor, their footsteps echoed clearly in the vacant passageway.
As they neared the isolation room, they could faintly sense the lingering, erratic spiritual power of a guide in the air, carrying an intense restlessness and agitation. Upon reaching the door at the very end, two Sentinel guards immediately stepped forward to verify their identities. Only after confirming their clearance did they unlock the heavy alloy door.
"She’s been inside the whole time. Her mood is relatively stable, and there have been no further signs of a violent outburst," a Sentinel reported in a low voice.
Bai Ye gave a slight nod and turned to Yun Sheng. "Are you ready?"
Yun Sheng took a deep breath and nodded. "Yes, let’s go in."
The heavy alloy isolation door slowly slid open at her words.
The scene inside was quite different from what Yun Sheng had expected. There was no complex equipment; the layout was exceptionally simple. A single, lonely bed sat in the middle of a room painted entirely in stark white. The empty, monotonous space gave off a cold, oppressive feeling.
A faint, strange odor lingered in the air. It wasn’t pungent, but it inexplicably made one’s body feel heavy and lethargic, bringing on a sense of grogginess. Yun Sheng’s nose twitched slightly, and she instantly deduced the cause.
This had to be a specialized Spirit Suppressor used by the Tower to subdue erratic and restless spiritual power.
When the door opened, Lin Yueyao, who had been lying on the bed with her eyes closed, suddenly opened them and snapped her head toward the entrance. Upon seeing that the visitor was Yun Sheng, her previously dull, lifeless eyes instantly filled with hostility and resentment.
"It’s you, Yun Sheng!"
Overcome with agitation, she tried to sit up, but her limbs were firmly secured to the bed by specialized restraint straps, leaving her unable to break free in the slightest. Her violent struggling pulled the straps taut, causing the bed frame to emit a faint CREAK, which only accentuated her pathetic and crazed state.
"Why! Yun Sheng, why do you get all the good things!" Lin Yueyao’s eyes were bloodshot, her face contorted. Her shrill curses tore from her throat, echoing harshly in the cold, empty isolation room. She looked absolutely nothing like her former self.
"Why did you have to come back? Why couldn’t you just die on the Garbage Star? Why did you have to come back and steal everything from me!
"I liked Bai Ye so much that to be worthy of him, I didn’t even hesitate to use the induction agent provided by the Dark Nest... I was tortured by its side effects every single month. If I didn’t listen to them, they would cut off my supply...
"Do you know how much pain I was in? What about you? What did you sacrifice? What right do you have to compete with me! Yun Sheng, damn you, damn you!"
She twisted her body frantically, her face a mask of distorted jealousy and resentment. Her emotions completely spiraled out of control as she plunged into a state of madness. Yun Sheng stood quietly in place. Watching the hysterical Lin Yueyao, she offered no rebuttal, nor did she show any emotion.
Her heart was a jumble of mixed feelings, giving rise to a strong sense of dissonance. This distorted, hysterical woman before her completely failed to overlap with the always-glamorous Lin Yueyao in her memory. The former Lin Yueyao was the golden girl, the center of everyone’s universe—composed, confident, and the object of countless people’s envy.
Yet in just two short days, she had devolved into this paranoid, deranged state.
As Lin Yueyao’s piercing curses continued to ring out, Bai Ye frowned deeply and immediately called out in a low voice, "Someone come and give her a sedative."
Almost simultaneously, Si Jin gently grasped Yun Sheng’s hand. His thumb softly stroked the back of her hand, his eyes reflecting subtle traces of concern. Yun Sheng gave his hand a light squeeze in return, her tone calm and relaxed. "I’m fine, don’t worry."
She hadn’t taken Lin Yueyao’s mad ravings to heart at all. It was just a few insults; they couldn’t hurt her in the slightest. The one who was currently trapped here, looking pathetic and losing her mind, was Lin Yueyao, not her. There was absolutely no need to get angry over a few weightless curses.
Soon, two medical personnel entered the isolation room with vials and instruments, skillfully injecting a sedative into the endlessly struggling Lin Yueyao. The medication took effect remarkably fast. In just a few dozen seconds, Lin Yueyao’s violent thrashing slowly ground to a halt, the hostility and madness quickly fading from her face.
Her body relaxed, and she lay back on the bed with vacant eyes. Her mood gradually stabilized, though the coldness and resentment in the depths of her gaze remained unyielding. After a moment of silence, Lin Yueyao slowly turned her head, locking her eyes straight onto Yun Sheng at the door. Her face was expressionless, her voice bone-chillingly cold and tinged with a paranoid stubbornness.
"Didn’t you want me to confess who else from the Dark Nest is on the Capital Star, and what the follow-up plans are? Everyone else, get out. I will only speak to Yun Sheng!"
