Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 343: First Time Providing Guidance to an Ordinary Sentinel

Chapter 343: Chapter 343: First Time Providing Guidance to an Ordinary Sentinel

[Okay, I’ll take you there after you get off work. But you still need to eat lunch. Have you thought about what you want?]

Yun Sheng pursed her lower lip. Her fingertips continued to swipe across the Star Network page, browsing the food recommendations around the Tower once more.

After scrolling through several pages, a highly-rated antique-style Chinese restaurant caught her eye. She took a quick screenshot and sent it to Si Jin.

[Let’s go to this one. We can stop by and check it out later.]

After sending the message, Yun Sheng rested her wrist casually on the desk, her terminal screen still lit. A faint sound of footsteps approached from her side.

Vice Captain Zhou Yi walked slowly to her workstation, holding an electronic file board.

He looked down at Yun Sheng with a polite tone. "Yun Sheng, sorry to take up a couple of minutes. New members need to register their basic information upon joining the team. Just fill this out accordingly."

"No problem."

Yun Sheng took the file board, her fingertips gliding quickly across the hovering light screen. Name, Level, area of expertise, and compatible Sentinel type—she filled out all the information in one go and handed it back to Zhou Yi shortly after.

Zhou Yi took the file board back. His fingertips unconsciously rubbed its edges while his gaze fell on Yun Sheng. He looked hesitant, as if he wanted to say something, his expression slightly conflicted.

Catching his unusual demeanor, Yun Sheng curled her lips into a faint smile and asked directly.

"Captain Zhou, is there something else?"

Having been seen through so easily, Zhou Yi stopped hiding his thoughts. He let out a slightly awkward cough and softened his tone, afraid of putting too much pressure on her.

"It’s like this. According to the Tower’s onboarding process, after a new guide joins the team, they need to perform a simple internal spiritual soothing session. It’s meant to help them adapt to the field team’s pace in advance.

"However, we won’t force you. You don’t have to soothe everyone at once; you can just pick any team member for a simple channeling session. If you feel uncomfortable with it, it’s completely fine to refuse."

Zhou Yi was especially cautious when saying this.

After all, everyone had openly mocked Yun Sheng just a moment ago. Anyone else would hold a grudge, and he had absolutely no confidence that she would agree.

Hearing this, the other Sentinels in the office subconsciously looked up. The atmosphere instantly quieted down.

Yun Sheng’s expression remained calm. She shrugged indifferently. "It’s a small matter. Nothing to be uncomfortable about."

The outside world was already questioning her abilities. Rather than passively letting others look down on her, it would be better to use her true strength to shut everyone up.

Her gaze swept over everyone in the office before finally landing on the burly Sentinel in the corner.

The robust man had been secretly glancing at her. Caught off guard by Yun Sheng’s gaze, he stiffened. Heat instantly flushed his cheeks again, and he awkwardly averted his eyes, completely at a loss for what to do with his hands.

A faint smile graced Yun Sheng’s lips as she spoke calmly to Zhou Yi.

"I’ll choose him, then."

As soon as she spoke, everyone in the office froze. They all turned their heads in unison to look at the burly man, making the scene awkwardly comical.

The singled-out burly man was completely dumbfounded. Blood rushed to his rugged face, turning it red and stiff.

He stood up in a panic. With his massive frame, he somehow gave off an inexplicably foolish yet endearing sense of awkwardness, and he even stuttered a little when he spoke.

"Y-You chose me?"

He couldn’t be any more embarrassed right now.

Just earlier, he had called her a useless piece of trash guide in front of everyone. Yet in the blink of an eye, the very person he had insulted singled him out to personally give him a spiritual channeling session.

The surrounding team members held back their laughter, their eyes full of amusement as they clearly waited to see him make a fool of himself.

Zhou Yi was also stunned for two seconds before recovering. He glanced at the flustered team member, then back at Yun Sheng.

"Are you sure? If you feel it’s inconvenient, you can choose someone else."

"No need." Yun Sheng stood up from her workstation, her tone calm and composed. "It’s all the same. I’ll just go with him."

Seeing this, Zhou Yi didn’t try to persuade her further. He pointed to a private room at the inner side of the office.

"Then you two can go to the exclusive soothing room next door. It has full soundproofing and protective facilities, making it much more suitable for spiritual channeling than out here."

The offices of the Tower’s field teams were generally equipped with independent soothing rooms. They featured professional buffer barriers designed specifically to handle sudden spiritual riots during a Sentinel’s channeling session, offering much higher security than the outside workstations.

"Alright."

Yun Sheng nodded and took the lead, walking toward the soothing room.

The singled-out burly man, with his stomach in knots, braced himself and followed behind her.

His massive, towering frame made Yun Sheng appear even more slender and fragile. Judging purely by appearances, no one would believe that such a new guide—one without even a spiritual body—could perform a channeling session on him.

As the two reached the door of the soothing room, Yun Sheng raised her hand to close it. Zhou Yi, who had been silently watching them, immediately stepped half a pace forward, his tone laced with obvious worry.

"Yun Sheng, how about you don’t close the door all the way? Just leave a crack open?"

He was deeply concerned.

This particular team member naturally had a fiery temper, and his mental state had been unstable recently, making him highly prone to losing control. During previous channeling sessions, he had nearly accidentally injured his former guides several times.

Yun Sheng looked quite young and was a newcomer completely lacking a spiritual body. If a riot broke out inside, she wouldn’t even have the time to protect herself.

The other team members around them also chimed in in agreement, their eyes full of worry.

No one believed Yun Sheng could steadily suppress the burly man.

Yun Sheng understood everyone’s thoughts. She curled her lips into a faint smile, her tone firm yet relaxed.

"It’s fine, Captain Zhou. Don’t worry, I can handle it."

Her confidence was straightforward and commanding; her calm tone was inexplicably convincing.

Zhou Yi hesitated for a few seconds before finally giving in. He nodded. "Then please be absolutely careful. The moment anything feels off, call out to us immediately."

"Mhm."

Having given her answer, Yun Sheng closed the door straight away, completely isolating the room from all outside sights and sounds.

Outside the door, Zhou Yi and the rest of the Sentinels all gathered around the outer corridor. No one returned to their workstations.

Everyone subconsciously stared at the tightly shut door, their hearts filled with mixed feelings.

Some secretly clenched their fists, filled with anxiety, terrified that an accident might happen inside. Others held a wait-and-see attitude, wanting to find out if this newcomer actually had real skills.

Time slowly ticked by, second by second. The soothing room remained perfectly quiet, without the slightest sound coming from within.

Those few long minutes felt especially agonizing for the crowd outside, the atmosphere heavy and fraught with tension.

Inside the soothing room, the enclosed space was peaceful and soft.

The robust man sat awkwardly on the specialized soothing chair, every muscle in his body taut, and even his breathing highly unnatural.

Whenever he thought about how he had publicly mocked and belittled Yun Sheng earlier, he felt incredibly embarrassed, unable to sit or stand comfortably.

"Relax. Just clear your mind," Yun Sheng reminded softly as she walked up to him.

With that, she raised her slender fingertip and pressed it gently against the center of the man’s forehead.

The moment her fingertip made contact, the Sentinel’s deeply ingrained instincts kicked in. The robust man subconsciously tensed his nerves. His spiritual power instantly erected a defensive barrier, instinctively resisting the invasion of foreign spiritual power.

But in the next second, a gentle, pure, and incredibly accommodating spiritual power slowly seeped in.

It carried no aggression whatsoever, yet it was incomparably domineering. It effortlessly shattered the defenses he had built, sweeping straight in and pouring steadily into his restless, chaotic spiritual sea.

It was an indescribable sense of comfort.

The exhaustion accumulated from consecutive days of missions, the anxiety repeatedly acting up in his mind, and the spiritual agitation that sporadically stung his nerves—all of it was smoothly ironed out and melted away by this gentle force, one by one.

His long-tense nerves abruptly relaxed. Heavy weariness washed over his entire body, and a profound drowsiness suddenly surged into his mind.

The robust man’s tightly wound body loosened completely. His eyelids grew heavier and heavier until, completely devoid of his guard, his head drooped, and he fell into a deep, sound sleep.
