Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 212: Escaped

‘He’s a walking bomb,’ Lin Jingjing thought.

The original three-on-two had now become a two-on-two. After Yun Yiyou revealed his power, the man and woman on the opposing side grew timid.

Once fear took root, they lost the courage they’d had at the start to kill Lin Jingjing.

They exchanged a glance, turned, and fled without hesitation.

Lin Jingjing watched their retreating figures, momentarily speechless.

‘So desperate to save their lives they’d abandoned all honor.’

‘No backbone!’

That was what Lin Jingjing thought, but she looked around and noticed that their allies didn’t react at all when they saw the two flee.

They just kept charging forward.

‘Something’s not right. We’re powerful opponents. Why aren’t they running when they see their own comrades flee?’

‘How strange.’

“Hmph. And I thought they were supposed to be tough. Is this all they’ve got?” Yun Yiyou snorted dismissively, his words dripping with scorn.

“Actually, they were pretty strong,” Lin Jingjing didn’t belittle them, acknowledging their skills. “It’s just that we’re too strong.”

Hearing Lin Jingjing praise them, Yun Yiyou shot her a look, then said, “Are you defending them?”

“I’m just stating the facts,” Lin Jingjing replied with a shrug.

“‘Stating the facts,’ are we?” Yun Yiyou’s sarcastic tirade continued. “They’re the enemy. What do you call it when you acknowledge the strength of your enemy?”

Before Yun Yiyou could continue, Lin Jingjing cut in, finishing for him, “You call it mutual appreciation between adversaries.”

“Heh…” Yun Yiyou couldn’t be bothered to argue with her, tossing out, “Always have to have the last word.”

With that, he took off, chasing after the two who had fled.

Lin Jingjing watched his retreating back and shouted, “I’ll leave those two to you! I’m going to go see Huang Bo Lin!”

Without another word, she charged toward Huang Bo Lin’s position without looking back.

At that moment, Huang Bo Lin was sitting in a chair. Beside him was a large table, upon which sat a bottle of red wine and a stemmed glass.

He was far removed from the battlefield, as if everything happening there had nothing to do with him.

As if he, Huang Bo Lin, were merely a passing spectator.

Huang Bo Lin held the stemmed glass, swirling the red liquid within again and again, his gaze fixed on the distance with the corners of his mouth slightly turned up.

It was clear he was enjoying this war.

When Lin Jingjing saw this, a profound sense of unease washed over her.

So many people had died here because of him, yet Huang Bo Lin was leisurely sipping red wine and enjoying the show.

‘He doesn’t have a shred of conscience.’

In a flash, Lin Jingjing appeared before Huang Bo Lin, but her arrival didn’t frighten him in the slightest.

Instead, he looked at her calmly, raised his glass, and asked with a smile, “Care for a glass?”

They eyed each other through the stemmed glass—one face stern, the other beaming.

From behind Lin Jingjing came countless screams, wails, pleas for mercy, and curses…

Mixed in with these sounds were the noises of tearing, gnawing, chewing, and roaring.

The contrast between the two scenes was too great. In an instant, Lin Jingjing couldn’t bear it any longer.

Lin Jingjing raised her hand and slapped the glass from his grasp. She pointed at him, and a dagger materialized, aimed right at him.

Her eyes filled with fury, Lin Jingjing’s voice was frigid as she demanded, “Do you have any idea what you’re doing?”

Seeing the dagger pointed at him and hearing Lin Jingjing’s question, Huang Bo Lin just smiled.

He then raised his hand and gently pushed the dagger aside with two fingers, a faint smile on his face. “Why so angry?”

“Of course, I know what I’m doing.”

Huang Bo Lin stood up, his gaze sweeping over the scene in the distance. He took it all in.

“Don’t you think what I’m doing is magnificent?”

Hearing this, Lin Jingjing felt the urge to slice open his head and see if it was filled with water or brains.

‘Fucking magnificent?’

‘Huang Bo Lin has killed so many people, and now he’s telling me his actions are magnificent.’

‘Fucking moron!’

‘Isn’t he just a complete psycho?’

‘An enemy to all humanity, standing here and calling his work magnificent.’

‘What a fucking joke.’

“What’s so magnificent about it?” Lin Jingjing asked, suppressing her rage.

“I’ve eliminated all the vermin. Not only that, but I’ve ensured that people like them will not appear in the Empire for the next few hundred years.”

Huang Bo Lin spread his arms wide, his eyes filled with madness.

“The Empire of the future will be a beautiful one. No one will be bullied, no one will be crushed by the powerful.”

“What about the common people?” Lin Jingjing demanded. “You’ve captured so many for your human experiments. Have you thought about their parents and families?”

“You’re nothing but an executioner!”

“You just killed all those people! They begged you like that, why couldn’t you spare them!”

The madness on Huang Bo Lin’s face slowly faded, replaced by a growing impatience.

“Those are the people I killed, and they deserved to die!” Huang Bo Lin turned, sat back in his chair, grabbed his wine glass, and took a large gulp of red wine.

“Who told them to nearly kill my wife?” At this, Huang Bo Lin sneered. “They thought they could trample on the lives of others just because they were rich and powerful. Don’t you think they deserved to die?”

With a soft chuckle, Huang Bo Lin looked her straight in the eye and said, “If your friends had been killed by them, I imagine you’d be even more crazed than I am.”

The thought of her friends being toyed with by that crowd, possibly even losing their lives…

Lin Jingjing’s expression soured. For a moment, she found herself at a loss for words, unable to voice her accusations.

Having never experienced his pain, Lin Jingjing couldn’t understand why he had gone this far. But she knew that no matter how much he suffered or how much he hated the world, it didn’t give him the right to cause so many violent deaths.

“But why did you have to let so many people die?” Lin Jingjing took a deep breath and asked, “The ordinary people living in the Empire, what did they ever do to you?”

“Nothing,” Huang Bo Lin replied. “But revolution always requires sacrifice.”

“Their deaths will lead the Empire toward a brighter future!”

After hearing this, Lin Jingjing let out a heavy scoff of disdain.

“You’re full of excuses.” Lin Jingjing decided not to waste any more words on him. He was clearly beyond reasoning.

From the looks of him, he wasn’t afraid to die at all.

‘In that case, for the sake of all those who died, Huang Bo Lin must die here today!’

She raised her hand, dagger in hand, and lunged at him.

But Huang Bo Lin remained motionless, and the dagger stabbing toward him also stopped dead.

A faint green protective layer had suddenly appeared around Huang Bo Lin, and Lin Jingjing’s dagger was pressed against his chest, completely unable to break through.
