Doctor Reborn as a Peasant Girl? Time to Get Rich

Chapter 224: Never Able to Get Married

Chapter 224 -216: Never Able to Get Married

‘Revenge. This is definitely revenge.’

She could only pretend she hadn’t heard him.

“Time for your acupuncture,” she said gently.

He gave a soft grunt of acknowledgment, maintaining his straight posture as he closed his eyes.

He was incredibly tall. Even with him sitting down, it was a strain for her to stand behind him and administer the needles; she had to stand on her tiptoes.

‘He must be at least six feet tall.’

While genetics were important in determining a person’s height, nutrition during their formative years was just as crucial. How many children from poor families could grow this tall unless they were born into wealth?

Take Meng Nan, for example. He was about the same height as Hu Feng, and their mannerisms were quite similar. In fact, Hu Feng sometimes seemed even more refined than Meng Nan. He never spoke during meals, and his every move revealed just how different he was from the other villagers.

She was also very curious about what kind of person Hu Feng truly was.

What kind of life had he lived before his amnesia? And why had no family come looking for him after all this time?

She was lost in a daze, needle pinched between her fingers, but she hadn’t started the treatment.

Hu Feng finally opened his eyes, his gaze sweeping over to the dazed Bai Zhi standing beside him. “What’s wrong? Thinking about what you’ll wear when you meet the village chief’s grandson?”

Bai Zhi snapped back to reality. “What nonsense are you spouting? Of course not!”

She inserted a needle into the Fengchi point behind his ear. “Don’t move.” Then she took another needle and inserted it into the Tianchong point above his ear.

Hu Feng didn’t move, but his mouth didn’t stay idle. “So, when do you plan on marrying him?”

Bai Zhi ignored him and continued inserting the needles.

Hu Feng continued, “I hear there’s an auspicious day for weddings next month. Is that when it’s scheduled?”

Bai Zhi still ignored him.

“Not next month? Don’t tell me it’s this month? You’re getting married this month? Isn’t that a bit rushed?”

“Ah, I get it. Someone’s finally willing to marry you, so you’re probably afraid he’ll change his mind.”

‘That was the last straw. There was no need to endure it any longer.’

She decisively jabbed the needle in her hand into a particular spot—the body’s most useless, and also most painful, acupoint.

It wouldn’t cause any side effects, but it would hurt. His entire body would ache.

“What did you do?” Even someone with Hu Feng’s high pain tolerance couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

“That’s what you get for spouting nonsense! If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll really think I’m a pushover, won’t you?”

Hu Feng snorted coldly. “How was I spouting nonsense? You’re the one who said the village chief wants you as his grandson’s wife.”

Bai Zhi said, “Are you an idiot? The village chief’s grandson is only sixteen! Why would I marry a kid who’s barely a teenager?”

Hu Feng paused, slightly stunned, then asked, “So, you didn’t agree?”

Bai Zhi rolled her eyes, exasperated. “Isn’t that obvious? Of course I didn’t agree. Besides, you know what my reputation in Huangtuo Village is like. Everyone thinks I’m a ‘barren hen’ who can’t have children. Why would he actually want me as his grandson’s wife? He just forgot about it for a moment. I already reminded him. It’s never going to happen, not in a million years.”

The tension finally eased from Hu Feng’s face, and the corners of his tightly pressed lips curved up slightly. “That’s true. ‘There are three ways to be unfilial, and having no heir is the greatest.’ The fact that you can’t have children might really mean you’ll never get married.”

Bai Zhi scoffed. “As if I’m dying to get married. My mother and I do just fine on our own. Isn’t that better than marrying into another family just to work like a slave?”
